Steve Bruce Hopeful This Player Can Provide Options For Newcastle

One of Steve Bruce’s strengths is that he is a very good man-manager. He has come into Newcastle and been able to handle the players very well.

We do give Bruce a lot of the credit for keeping players like Isaac Hayden and Martin Dubravka at the club. Both Isaac and Martin have been our standout performers in the two opening games this season.

Another player that Steve Bruce wanted to keep at Newcastle is striker Dwight Gayle. Dwight is a very different player to both Joelinton and Miguel Almiron in that he is a poacher who will find space in the box and pounce at chances that come his way.

He will stay high and not drop as deep as Joelinton has in his two appearances. He could possibly do a decent job for Newcastle this season. However, he is untested in the Premier League and has yet to prove he can consistently score goals in England’s top flight.

Dwight Gayle– can bring something different to the attack

Granted Gayle has never had a run of games to prove himself in the Premier League. He likely won’t get that opportunity this season either but could serve as a late-game substitute. Gayle could even prove useful if Bruce decides to deploy a more conventional target man/poacher partnership with Andy Carroll.

However, Dwight Gayle is most likely not going to be the answer to Newcastle’s scoring problems this season. He can definitely help out, but it is looking like goals are going to have to come from a collection of players this season.

If Joelinton is isolated up top and unable to link up play at 6’2″, what chance is Dwight Gayle going to have in this Newcastle team. We really feel Steve Bruce should have a rethink about the 3-5-2 formation he has been using so far.

Steve has made some comments about Gayle in the Chronicle and it looks like he may be available soon.

“On the last day in China we thought he was going to be OK. Then he had a setback.

“I hope he can get fit again.

“When I analysed the squad I know he’s capable of scoring a goal.

“If you are a Championship manager you’d take Dwight Gayle because he’s the best striker in the Championship.

“He must be able to contribute to the Premier League too.

“I hope he will be back before Andy Carroll.

“I said to the lad when all the talk of him moving was whirring away, that I’d tried to buy him.

“I’d never been able to afford him.

“But I tried to take him wherever I have gone in the Championship.”

The problem we have with these comments about Gayle is that they lack the awareness of the situation Steve Bruce finds himself in at the moment. He has tried to compliment Dwight Gayle, which is commendable but has basically described him as a Championship player. A Championship player who he can’t wait to finally get to work with.

He does provide the caveat that Gayle has to “contribute to the Premier League too.” However, Bruce really needs to be more mindful in choosing his words. While we agree that Dwight Gayle may be able to help Newcastle this season, the words Bruce has chosen to get his point across could draw unnecessary criticism his way.

We feel a bit for Steve at the moment as he is already being tipped to be one of the first managers sacked, while Newcastle have become one of the favorites for relegation. This is after just two games into the season.

Every decision he makes, every word he utters will be under scrutiny. We sympathize with him, but that is the job he has signed up for.

    4 things
    /1.Bruce’s very presence demoralizes me
Makes me ashamed to call myself a supporter of this club

/2. The signing of Kraft makes zero sense since we already have two right backs

/3. Joelington is a downgrade on Rondon

/4. Perez was our best player.
Without him 50% of our goals and 90% of our creativity is gone
Its a shame NUFC fans did not appreciate him while he was with us

The best line up we can put forward is this

    …….Dubs

    Manq..Lascelles..Dummett…Willems
    ………………Longstaff
    ……….Hayden……….Shelvey
    Atsu/Max………..Joelington………Alimiron

we need to abandon this ridiculous 5 man defence ASAP

Almiron’s lack of goals or assists is a big worry for us if Bruce is gonna play 2 up top.

We’d be better going 442, with Almiron and St Max as wingers, competing with Ritchie and Atsu. Joelinton, Carroll, Muto and Gayle competing up top.

My preference is 343, but a front 3 of Joelinton, Almiron and St-Max looks a bit callow. Almiron, Carroll and Joelinton or St- Max looks better.

I definitely think Bruce needs to ditch this impotent 352.

Still appalled by the decision to drop Manquillo for Krafth, who might be a solid pro, but has shown nothing in his career to warrant coming in and being a walk up start, particularly for a player who has been progressing so well.

Heard that Peter Kenyon’s Quality Sports Agency owned a big portion of Joelinton’s 3rd party ownership and that kenyon brokered the deal with Mike Ashley directly for the Joelinton. If Mike Ashley paid 40million for Joelinton you can be sure that Peter Kenyon got a big cut out of the deal and payback for his diligent work last year being a willing accomplice in the whole fakeover of nufc story.

Good team toon brother. The only one I’m not sure about is Willems. He seems to be 5 years past his best. What about Ritchie at left back?

I fail to see how Bruce is a good man manager, where’s the proof of that. The man has the 2nd worst record in Premier League history.Go figure! The shits hit the fan simple as that.Hes a fcuking loser and he proves it time and again. We are going down and it’s for the best, hopefully for a couple of year and the parasite will fcuk off.

Kraths a strange one. He’s of similar quality to Yedlin and Manquillo. All on the lower side of average for our league. I’m guessing he is more of a conventional fullback and has been brought in so we can play 4 at the back if necessary. I think benitez would have argued yedlin and manquillo forced him into only being able to play with wing backs.

Manquillo is better than that TnMW. I’ll have a little gentleman’s wager with you that of the 3 Manquillo will be the one to find another level, probably at another club.

6 sh** fullbacks is a waste of squad places, especially when you could say we still need to buy 2 fullbacks! Especially if we want this system to work. Instead of 6 mediocre ones, we should get two great ones and have two youths as backup.

I do agree on Perez though. Leicester have acquired a top player there for far less than his actual worth, very much at our expense. We need him more than they do.

I’ll not take that Nicky. Hevseems the best ofvthe lot. Yedlin is all about pace and that will wane so he’s not going to improve. And I’m not sure about Krath. Willems peaked as a teenager. Dummets too limited. And Ritchie’s doing OK. I’d swap all six for phillip Max or either of Norwich’s young wingbacks.

You’d play Dummett left back in a back four surely, and probably Lascelles and Fernandez in the middle, probably Krafth on the other side.

Back 3 of Schar, Lascelles and Lejeune worked so well because of those pinged cross field balls by Lejeune and Schar for the advancing wingbacks hugging the touchline. Not sure Bruce is even aware of how well that worked for us. Dummett really can’t do that for us, and haven’t seen Schar ping one for Ritchie since last term.

Lejuene will make a difference, but hes not going to fill that 30 goal gap I see in this team. I’m not even sure we have any promising goal scoring or creative youths to come through. I’d probably have Matty on the bench now. He could fill the Perez hole.

We’ve gone from aiming for the top 8 to praying for 17th with roughly the same squad. And the only way that’s possible is if Bruce goes quickly and Charnley uses his vast knowledge of football managers to find the next Farke from Germany.

Charnley should just quit, and leave the area. He’s forever tainted now for his part in the loss of Rafa, and beside that he’s hopeless in the job anyway. I’ll be amazed if the crowd doesn’t start going for him.

We need to play a higher line too, looking to constantly win the ball back in their half, with Dubravka being a proper sweeper keeper. A nice tight compressed compact unit with and without the ball. We tend to play too deep and invite the opposition on. Win the ball, and play in their half. We’ll get beat, but we’ll win too, and it’ll more enjoyable to watch.
