Elias Sorensen was able to get his first appearance for Carlisle United this weekend as he came on as a substitute in the 55th minute.
McKirdy replaced by Sorensen for us #cufc
— Carlisle United FC (@officialcufc) August 17, 2019
Sorensen didn’t make much of an impact in this initial appearance, but he had just joined the League Two club the previous day.
This is a significant loan move for Elias as it has been well-chronicled what happened at Blackpool. In his appearance for Carlisle on Saturday, Elias already has more minutes on the pitch than at Blackpool.
There is, however, no agreement between Carlisle and Newcastle mandating that Elias play a specified amount of time.
The News and Star have the following comments from Carlisle manager Steven Pressley about the loan agreement with Newcastle.
“It’s entirely in our hands,
“It’s like every loan player – they [the parent clubs] want them here, and they want them to play, but they respect us managers have to make these decisions.
It will be up to young Elias to prove that he is ready for first-team football. We would imagine, however, that if this spell starts to go the way of Blackpool that Newcastle will similarly pull the plug and terminate the loan.
However, we do have faith that this move will work out well for Sorensen. We know he has the quality to score goals, and he just needs to get the confidence to do that while on loan.
Steven Pressley went on to express his confidence in Sorensen’s ability and his hope that he will score goals while at Carlisle.
“I hope he will bring goals, and he’ll bring a movement in behind. I think he’s very effective.
“Unfortunately [on Saturday] with the way Mansfield set up, they tried to kill the space in behind so we didn’t manage to quite utilise him in behind.
“It was good to get him on, and we hoped he could provide us with the impact we wanted.
“It wasn’t the case, but I’m sure we’ll see a lot more of him in the coming weeks.
“I think he’ll bring a real threat behind and he’s a real goalscorer.”
We will continue to monitor Sorensen’s progress during his loan spell. That will resume tomorrow when Carlisle travel to Cheltenham for their next fixture in the league.
Cheltenham Town manager Michael Duff is very aware of Elias Sorensen and what he could deliver for Carlisle tomorrow. This is what he has said about young Elias in Gloucestershire Live:
“They have brought in the young lad Sorensen from Newcastle, a very good player and someone we were interested in both last January and in the summer.
“He went away with the first team. I think he might come into the team and he’ll give them good legs and a real goal threat.”

I totally agree, you have to wonder what ashLIE is doing, he said he doesn’t have a clue about football – but charmless who is Russell Cushing’s ex assistant, well you could say he has some idea.
Sadly he doesn’t, the owner and his md are way, way out of their depth. Can you imagine a guy on £150k a year trying to negotiate a £4m salary deal? Where’s the respect?

Comment #6My guess is they’ll go for Allardyce who in his day was good at keeping teams up, or Hughton who will unite the fans, or Ranieri.

Comment #7Read on previous page we should park bus v spurs
I thought Bruce was here to play expansive attacking football now people asking to park bus like Rafa would but then the Rafa haters would slag him off
So we have downgraded a manager but want him to play the way a far superior manager would strange comments
Then Dwight Gayle is our big hope is this the same player shipped out on loan then squad number 9 taking off him again after rondon left can’t see him being very committed

Comment #8Let’s face it, the club is a shambles from top to bottom, 3 number 9s in the last 4 months? Rondon (left), Gayle (pushed down the pecking order), Joelinton (Current).
I’m still not getting why we paid so much for Joe mind you, convinced there’s a reason for it (someone got a large brown envelope).

Comment #9The moment I heard Ashley was willing to pay half towards Joelinton I started to worry that maybe that deal was a way of legally paying people or clubs. Or a way of transferring money to one club for something else while they can still call it, paying for a player. As they can put any price they want on it, and the buying club can pay any amount they want, I.e it’s a great way of transferring money legally. If you owe a club or person money, then tag on extra and say it was the price we had to pay.
It just strikes me as soo odd that Ashley wanted this deal done so badly that he was willing to give Benitez 20m of his own money when Benitez was reluctant to buy him, almost like he started to get worried Rafa would screw it up.
The only thing that eases my mind is the fact that somehow he was already valued at over 30M on transfermarkt(which Is normally very accurate) as he would never get that price tag on transfermarkt playing for a relatively small club unless he has class.
I didnt say anything about it until now because I didnt want to sound paranoid, but hearing about the Kenyon connection is starting to confirm my suspicions.

It adds to what mindshaft says that is he paying kenyon so he can buy the club, will then kenyon allow for SD to put its clauses to keep merch and advertising at NUFC like hes shafted rangers and the irish fa with.

Comment #14On Saturday the team which was selected represented the costly ever fielded by NUFC. It was also the worst Premiership display ever. We all know the the owner is the constant underlying factor who has brought in a 13th + choice as manager because all the others didn’t want the poison chalice. Regretablly Bruce is past his sale by date and not fit for purpose.
However the forgotten people in all this are the players. They have tried to be professional throughout all the fakeover speculation but I think the fans with all their boycott issues has finally began to take it’s toll on them. I am not blaming those fans as everyone is entitled to their views.
BUT The time has come for true fans to get behind the team especially at SJP as the travelling fans remain loyal, extremely vocal and still appear to back the team in large numbers despite the poor start to the season.
Come on as the only way is up.

Never take tv advice from toon22.
Is was the biggest pile of poop ive ever seen.
It just made me angry.
The original Ashleyout campaign, the first one against hull 11 years ago, where all the sale lies started, and he stated “you dont have to demonstrate against me, i get the message i will leave”
The one thing he doesnt want is a protest, demonstrations against him.
Thats how he keeps mirage going.
He wants us to be relegated every so many years it keeps us in his cycle.

Comment #21Lots of talk about joelinton
It’s not his fault he got caught up in this deal but cannot fathom how we paid 40 million
We have lost player after player for sake of a couple of million under Ashley ( deli Ali being the worst example ) miggy took months as they haggled and dicked around .
Now this ?
The Kenyon link is interesting ,and I am certain Rafa knew what was going on when Ashley was offering half to get a deal through .
Rondon for 15 mil job done guaranteed goals and a player who can hold the ball and works his bits off.
Maybe no sell on but would have left 25 mil towards a proper number 10 .
A young lad pulled from a foreign league and told its his goals that will have to keep us up ? What can possibly go wrong ?
Mitro all over again .

Comment #24Makes sense to get relegated after a spending spree if you are in cahoots with agents.
As Henry Hill says… “Paulie (Ashley) could do anything. Especially run up bills on the joint’s credit. And why not? Nobody’s gonna pay for it anyway. And as soon as the deliveries are made in the front door, you move the stuff out the back and sell it at a discount. You take a two hundred dollar case of booze and you sell it for a hundred. It doesn’t matter. It’s all profit. And then finally, when there’s nothing left, when you can’t borrow another buck from the bank or buy another case of booze, you bust the joint out. You light a match.

Rondon could and should of still be bought, it would of took massive pressure off joelinton.
The only hope ive got this year is andy carroll having geordie spirit and a na im not letting the toon go down on my watch attitude.
Are we screwed?
Time will tell.
Rafa got rid of that heads drop give up attitude.
We were always in the game and you knew the players felt that.
3 relegations under Ashley in 13 years, will show the premier league up as there fit and proper test clearly works.
To put it into prospective we had only be relegated 4 times in our history before ashley.

Yeah I remember hating even watching us pre Rafa as it was just inevitable unless we scored first we were knackered under the colocinis .Wasnt even the losing games I hated it was the acceptance of some players that 13th was about our level and they never appeared to give a shit ( I had that exact pain watching the Norwich game ) zero fight and going through the motions .
Sick of the shit about last season and ten games too .
Yes it was a horrible start but we were in every game and it was the odd goal and some ordinary decisions …
As for carol I don’t doubt his will ..just not sure the body can cope hope I am wrong .

Comment #28They are all in it together every one of them, for one reason or another they are all scratching each others backs. I dont believe for one second Bzg are innocent and wanted to buy the club.
It’s very suspicious how the 8 potential buyers over the past few years have come out and said nothing once the deals fell through. You would imagine if they were being fúked around by Ashley some of them would come out and say how hes a joke and only wasting their time.
Very suspicious that not one person has even opened their mouths ONCE especially considering each and everyone of them have been played by Ashley for muppets.
UNLESS THEY ARE ALL WORKING IN TANDUM FOR ASHLY AND THEMSELVES. But of course noo people just want to say BZG have honor and they would never do a thing like that.
I have a feeling that’s why Rafa left, hes smart enough and realised how deep it’s going and how sketchy it all is, and he ran. Smart man!

Apparently ashley likes being “one of the lads”.
He goes to his favourite pub and first thing hell say is. “Go on then ill get the round” when nee ones even said out.
When the players went on strike last year over bonus.
Lascelles went to see charnley and was told.
“Be nice to mike”
Well the players wernt happy, so he went back to see charnley.
He was told “your a millionaire your boss is a billionaire, be good to him and hell be good to you”
Then pizza gate happens. The lads take him out, invite him to the training ground.
Everything good in the NUFC world. Nothing to see here the owner isnt shafting an entire region.

Comment #32yes and pre Rafa I do recall players making noises in the press after some awful performances ,actualy trying to say it was the fans at home affecting them ?
Fans who were only voicing how much they were seeing as a lack of pride in the shirt and we’re seeing through the cliche sound bites coming from the players back then.
Rafa changed all that . We saw players running there guts out or they were hooked ,none of this purple nonsense ” don’t worry as long as your fit your on the team sheet” .The biggest link in all this is charnley ,a guy so arrogantly blind to how out of his depth he is .
A guy who hailed a season where we aren’t relegated as abreast success ?
He is the one slowly steering us to the champo and I don’t understand why he isn’t getting a mouthful whenever he sets foot in the street .
