Allardyce At It Again With Benitez Relegation Claim

Newcastle United fans deserve so much better than this. While the football on the pitch this week has been disappointing, the turmoil off it is reaching a fever pitch.

Earlier on TalkSPORT, Michael Chopra spoke of player discontent with Steve Bruce’s training methods. He claimed that some players have told him they have no idea what they are supposed to do. While we don’t know if what Chopra says is correct, we felt he was a little harsh on the ability of our players.

We have also had some more comments from Rafa Benitez about why he left Newcastle. We are holding out hope that Lee Charnley does not respond to these latest comments or the back and forth may never end.

It seems that it is impossible at the moment for Newcastle to move on from Rafa Benitez. With Chopra’s comments comparing training methods as well as Rafa issuing another defense for leaving Newcastle, Rafa Benitez seems a looming presence hovering about the club right now.

TalkSPORT has done an interview with Sam Allardyce this morning, and guess whose name came up. It was inevitable, we suppose.

This is what Sam Allardyce has said about Rafa Benitez and Steve Bruce at Newcastle:

“[Benitez] played a very, very good PR game shifting it all onto Mike Ashley. That’s what the Newcastle fans took up: Rafa got no stick but Mike Ashley took it all.

“And now just two games in Steve Bruce is getting it as much as Mike, and that’s quite sad for somebody who is a Newcastle supporter and has had his dream move to Newcastle United.

“I think the supporters need to give him a bit more time.

“At the end of the day it’s a really difficult job; you have to remember Rafa couldn’t save Newcastle.

“He got them relegated, and every manager that’s been relegated at Newcastle since I left has always bounced back the next season and got into the Premier League.

“Rafa jumped ship for the first job that came available to him.

“He did do a good job keeping them up and getting them out of trouble for a couple of years, and he did a very, very good job getting them back up again, and he is a very, very good manager.

“But Steve Bruce has got really good credentials about looking after teams in the Premier League, getting teams to the Premier League, keeping them in the Premier League, and I think he should be given time to get his own team available.

“But he needs a few results to get himself that time.”

Needless to say, we wholeheartedly disagree with the assertion that Rafa Benitez got Newcastle relegated. That is a disingenuous statement and a clear indication of Sam harboring ill-will towards Benitez.

While we do agree that Steve Bruce needs more games, Allardyce’s comparison between the two managers is not going to be helpful to Steve Bruce. Bruce needs success on the pitch, and that is all that will matter. He has not had any yet, and yes it is only two games in, so he will be given some more time to get it right.

At some point, Rafa Benitez needs to be purged from the system. He is no longer at the club and while we wish he was, he just isn’t.

You know who our next manager is going to be on £8M a year and we’re going to be so desperate at the time it’s going to be seen as a good move.

Was it Bobby there who said who could Ashley turn to manager wise.
He could turn to loads of people, even now, if he was not a complete and utter knacker of epic proportions.
All in the game know him as such and don’t want to work for him.

When you slated Rafa for his integrity, his tactics and his football, then called for his head, who the foot were you expecting to come here?

Who would want a interview off that dodgy twat, gets the England job and still wants kick backs.

How has he got any credibility?

What next a interview with Nick Leeson on our finances?

I wasn’t ever Benitez biggest fan but was settled in to the job he was about to do with our new owners, the dirty stinking Arabs, mugged us off in a humungous smokescreen with Mike.

What an absolute top notch git. No surprises from the crooked blaggard sacked after ten minutes from the England job.

Anyone with half a brain could see Rafa was plunged into a sinking ship with a few washing up bowls and told to start baling out – but allardyce knows there are certain “fans” who lap up this claptrap not realising he’s trying to ingratiate himself with prospective future employers if his current plan A goes south.

If ever that slobbering hippo came here I think boycotting would be the least of our problems.

When many comment that Bruce has the worst record in the Premiership other than Bryan Robson it’s not so much that he was appointed as to why ?

    and by who ?

It has nothing to do with sentiment and the fact that he’s a Geordie and that the Toon is his boyhood club nor that he’s a competent coach and by all accounts good company.

Beat Bobbies don’t suddenly become Chief Constables.
Student Nurses don’t suddenly become Charge Nurses.
Joggers don’t win the Olympic Marathon.

This goes back to lack of ambition, poor planning and poor decision making by those trying to run a potentially very successful football club .

    Backstop Ashley.
    Escape goat Charnley.

Anyone who listens to of what the likes of Munster, Bills son, jib & Robleenio is lost. Bruce is going to bring us to the championship and that is guaranteed
The signings are already failing and after losing our two most important players the season is already over.

    Ashley Out!
    Bruce Out!
    Joelinton Out!

We are using stats to kill Bruce v win ratio.
If you take his points ratio in the premier league up to this season It is 1.12.
    Enough to keep us up.
Good old stats they never let you down.
If you pick the right one.

Fat Sam must have been drunk giving that interview..
There is NOTHING true in that crap he speaks of.
Rafa got us relegated?.. NO, MCLAREN GOT US RELEGATED, and Rafa was brought in too late. You fcuking c.unt!
This time it is Brucie boy, who is getting us relegated, because he has no fcuking clue how to coach.

    REGARDING THE CHOPRA COMENTS..
I dont care if he is lying or not, the things he claims are what everybody thinks.
The players, with few exceptions, are NOT PREMIER LEAGUE players, but championship players, and thanks to Rafa and his guidance, they have over achieved for two seasons.. Finishing 10th and 13th with that squad is a FAR BETTER JOB DONE, than Pep “guiding” his players to the title.

The only players at premier league level:
    Dubravka
    Schar
    Lejuene
    Dummett
    Longstaff
    Almiron

The rest are championship level.. (including the lazy Hayden, whom many of you think plays superbly)

Not sure how anyone can say that Benitez got us relegated, he significantly improved Newcastle both in points gained , goals scored and goals conceded – unfortunately the damage had already been done under McClarens 28 games

    In McClarens 28 games

    28 games = 24 points = 0.85 points per game = 32 points per season

Conceded 53, scored 28 – average over season works out at 72 goals conceded 38 goals scored

    In Benitez 10 games

    10 games = 13 points = 49 points over season

Conceded 12 , scored 16 average over season works out 46 goals conceded 61 goals scored

The ‘big’ in Big Sam obviously doesn’t apply to his brain, does it? Rafa got us relegated? Utter stupidity. When given a full season of games Rafa has kept us up, which Sam even alludes to later in his assessment. So why say something daft like it was Rafa’s fault for McClaren’s failings as a manager?

And to defend Ashley is to completely lack any understanding of what he’s done to our club for more than a decade. Rafa didn’t get any stick from us because we were able to see the miracles he was working with the resources he had. Is Bruce working any miracles? No, he isn’t, and isn’t likely to do so any time soon, hence the negativity from the fans.

It’s a surprise that someone with a head as big as Big Sam’s is able to have it so far up his own backside.

Bills son. I don’t remember Rotunda saying he compares to Bruce or is a better manager/coach, so forgive me if I’m wrong. He was simply stating that like myself and others who have either played or coached at professional levels that perhaps we look at the game differently than your average fan because of the training we’ve received and our own experiences and pick up on different things.

Bills Son, not sure what the debate with Rotunda is about but the simple question with Bruce should be is he the right man to manage NUFC at this moment for me the answer is a massive no! just as it was with Mcclaren, the outcome could be very similar at the end of this season, Steve Bruce is not a good manager, Mclaren was out of his depth here and his record of winning the league cup, getting into a Eufa cup final, winning the Dutch league is far better than Bruce’s
