Defender To Give Up International Football To Concentrate On Newcastle

Paul Dummett has told Welsh International manager Ryan Giggs that he will forego playing for Wales to concentrate on playing for Newcastle.

The 27-year-old defender has had a rough time with injuries recently. He was injured playing for Wales last November in a game against Denmark.

Paul made a similar decision in 2017 when he made himself unavailable for international selection. Then Welsh manager Chris Coleman made some stern comments about Dummett’s decision at the time. This is what Chris Coleman said at the time:

“Paul Dummett doesn’t want to play international football, which is a disappointment from our point of view.

“But he has made that decision, and we have to abide by that.

“We will get on with the squad of players, the squad who want to play and represent Wales.

“There’s nothing we can do with Paul who’s decided that international football is not the path he wants to go down.

“Sometimes you have to be patient, especially because the team we have at the moment has been hugely successful.

“It is a shame because he’s a good player.

“I haven’t spoken to Paul. His agent rang me up to give me the news.

“I was disappointed, but if he doesn’t want to persevere with it, then that’s his choice. We’ve got to look after the players who want to play for us”.

Ryan Giggs seems to have taken the news a little bit better than his predecessor.

Here are some of the comments Ryan Giggs has made about Paul as published in the Chronicle:

“I spoke to Paul, and he really wanted to concentrate on club football. I think that will be it.

“He felt that he’s had a lot of hamstring problems, so he just felt he wanted to make sure he was fit for Newcastle.

“That was it really.

“I’ve got centre-halves who are playing, and I was considering him for that centre-half position, but it’s not a problem.

“Obviously he’s playing in the Premier League, and he’s a good defender, but I’ve got options, so it’s not a problem.”

Though born and bred in Newcastle, Dummett qualifies to play for Wales through one of his grandfathers. Paul has always been committed to Newcastle, and he will be so proud to be such an integral member of the squad. He has started the first two matches this season and been one of our better players.

Why on earth did we not loan Aarons and Lazaar to Sheff Wed when they asked? They were doing well last season and now Sheff Wed are flying after upgrading their manager the pair would have excelled and we could have sold them.

Dummets the type of player that needs to be drilled. I fear hell go back to being a championship quality player without Rafa. Rafa made all our defenders what they are. All played to their full potential.

I wish Ashley and Charnley would find a manager who didn’t want to buy all their players from the same agent or two.

If Bruce wants to save his career and what little reputation he has, he should walk now and attempt to shift the blame on the fans and the scout for leaving him with a supersub and an untested non goalscoring forward etc. He would be rightly hated in Newcastle but it is better than dragging out this car crash.

Ticket sales for Watford seem to be going ok.
Sold out bar 6 single seats in my section at £48 a pop.
    Gallowgate Corner likewise.
Gallowgate behind the goal 15 or so tickets left.
Still a week and a half to go. 3pm KO and not live on TV.

When the going gets tough the tough get going.

If he walks now and shifts the blame, he can get a mid table championship outfit and continue much as he has done. People will forget this stint if he walks. If he’d sacked after six games, his already poor rep is ruined.

Lazaar was a Rafa buy, but he was bought from necessity rather than choice. Essentially, he was brought in as cover when we didn’t have any and was the only player that the club would provide the funds for.

As such, even if Rafa oked the purchase, it was born of desperation rather than good sense and it therefore remains the club’s responsibility that we’re burdened with him, rather than Rafa’s.

While the trouble with our short term survival is Bruce, the long term trouble lies with Ashley.

If we sack Bruce we will get someone even further down Charnleys list, Mark Hughes or Pulis.
If we sack Charnley we will get Wise or Kinnear as DoF.
If we replace Joelinton we will get Jorgensen or worse.
Only if Ashley goes will we get a good DoF who will choose a good manager who will get the best out of the players and we will provide entertainment on the pitch.

Lazaar May have been Rafa’s choice but when you have to pick from the bargain shelf you are gonna get duds now and again! One thing is certain; Joelinton is not a Rafa buy and he is on a 6 year contract so why are you trying to justify the fckin regime again?

Ashley has a history of not selling his businesses (and buying duds). He won’t sell the toon whilst it’s making money (lots)!
The best we can hope for is someone buying a share and putting money in whilst Ashley uses it to sponsor SD. Problem is, who would invest with Ashley?

    History being rewritten

    That Summer Rafa bought
    Dwight Gayle
    Matt Ritchie
    Isaac Hayden
    Grant Hanley
    Ciaran Clark
    Mo Diamé
    DeAndre Yedlin
    Daryl Murphy
    Matz Sels
    Achraf Lazaar
    Jesus Gamez
Only the last 3 were flops
but Rafa takes no blame for them
and Ashley gets no credit for the others

The world doesn’t work like that
Lots of twisting and wriggling and bending
of the truth to fit the anti NUFC agenda

Jacob Murphy was a decent buy which we were all excited to see play – from time to time, players don’t make it in the Premier League, Murphy still could, though I think the Champo is likely his level, as with his brother.

I think Rafa wanted Townsend and got Murphy, though, if memory serves. Again, I think you’d have to put the ‘blame’ on the club’s recruitment policy, not that I think there is any blame as he seemed a decent player.

I wonder how much Townsend is worth now, though? £25M? What if he wins the Puskas medal? £30M? £35M? I think if Rafa had got his way, the club would be able to find a willing buyer for Townsend and turned a good profit on him, as opposed to having to loan Murphy out to a Champo club.

One of the larger sections in the North West corner.
50 seats available from about 350 in the section.

Not unusual that with a week and a half to go.

Jib, Gamez was a Rafa buy, for sure – completely fit the Rafa profile, rather than the club’s. He was old, experienced, higher wages and no resale value. I think he was disappointed to not play more often, but I always said I thought Rafa had him in mind to join his coaching team at some point, and stand by that.

He also never let us down when he was asked to do a job and make a rare appearance.

Matz Sels, well, let’s write that one off to an error. He made 36 appearances in Ligue 1 for Strasbourg last season, so evidently isn’t a bad player, just not suited to the Premier League. I guess you can’t tell before you try someone out sometimes.
