Striker Has A Lot Of Competition At Loan Club

Recently, Carlisle United manager Steven Pressley made the following statement about the loan agreement for Elias Sorensen:

“It’s entirely in our hands,

“It’s like every loan player – they [the parent clubs] want them here, and they want them to play, but they respect us managers have to make these decisions.”

Elias came on against Mansfield in the 55th minute to make his debut against Mansfield. However, he was an unused substitute on Tuesday in Carlisle’s 0-2 defeat at Cheltenham Town.

Pressley preferred to bring on two other forwards off the bench in the Cheltenham game as Carlisle desperately tried to fight back from two goals down. Striker Hallam Hope was brought on for forward Harry McKirdy. While another loan player in Olufela Olomola was brought on for striker Ryan Loft, who is also on loan from Leicester City.

Elias Sorensen– making debut for Carlisle

Carlisle are not short of options upfront, so it is very important that Elias Sorensen impresses his new manager in training. They also line up in a 4-3-3 where they only deploy the one striker centrally. There will be competition for places which should keep Sorensen sharp and determined to impress.

We are slightly concerned that Carlisle have loaned in two other forwards in addition to Sorensen. Though with playing three upfront, that may not necessarily be a concern.

Sorensen absolutely must get time on the pitch at Carlisle though, after the debacle with Blackpool in which he only played 32 minutes of football.

The Chronicle have published the following comment from Steve Bruce about Sorensen’s loan at Carlisle:

“He can benefit from it.

“I have spoke to Shola and the people in the U23s.”

It appears that Steve is not going to be too involved with the players out on loan. He has much bigger worries on his mind right now with the first team.

He will leave the loan situations to Shola Ameobi. This is fine as it is why Shola was brought into the club. We hope that Shola Ameobi is keeping close tabs on Elias to make sure it is working out at Carlisle.

He has only been there a week, so there is nothing to fret about at the moment. Carlisle play Salford City at home on Saturday. We hope that Elias will feature in that game.

This post below from Bobbbybee is one of the best, if not THE best, I’ve read on here in years.

It completely nails it in telling exactly what a true supporter is.

IMO it’s up there with the great SBR’s comments on what a football club is.

    Take a bow Bobbybee..

The irony of this blog. Some of those complaining about Bruce also whined constantly about Rafa’s tactics. Now they reckon he was amazing. Very strange….
Anyway, we all know this is an international blog, but those from abroad don’t get to demand anything from match going fans. You chose to support a team thousands of miles away, not us. Your choice. You made it, nobody else.
We are NUFC. The best thing about NUFC has always been the fans because the team has generally been shit. By fans, I mean those who go to games regardless of results. Those fans attracted Keegan here, both as player and manager. These are facts you don’t get to change. Those same fans brought Rafa here and kept him here, regardless of results. Those on here who whined constantly about the results made match day on here a disgrace.
Here’s one thing you need to get into your heads. Newcastle fans turn up regardless of results. If you don’t like it, watch somebody else.
Supporting Newcastle isn’t just about football. If you live in a different country you won’t understand this. We’re a forgotten people by the government. It’s only recently that they finally gave us three lanes on the motorway from Leeds ffs. We all support Newcastle because we’re proud of the city and region. We are Newcastle… United.
Let’s be honest, most of you started following us under Keegan. Exciting football. You thought you’d get some glory, like those abroad who latch onto Manure, City, Chelsea, Liverpool. We hoped so too. Sadly, we were all disappointed. That’s life.
So, fans who turned up after decades of watching shite, are always going to turn up. THIS IS NOTHING NEW.
Now I welcome overseas fans, but this is our club that you started to follow. This is how we are. This is how we roll as they say in America. Don’t like it? Tough shit. I’m not changing for you. Nobody is. Get over yourselves ffs.
There’s a reason 47k turned up v Arsenal but that wasn’t reflected on here. This is not representive of NUFC.
See that C in NUFC? It stands for CLUB. So, you don’t go to games. Fair enough. I get that. Are you members? Why not? Try going to any club, anywhere in the world and start demanding and see what happens. We pay for that honour. You could too, but you don’t.
This is why Posada gets angry. You don’t understand us. Newcastle till I die means that to most match going fans. Respect that, its what makes us what we are whether you like it or not. It always has.
Anybody who starts ‘boycotting’ now isn’t really. They’ve stopped because we’re shite. As many others have in reality. But the hard core fans will never stop going. Accept that. It’s life. If I wanted to be really horrible I’d say its a club, if you’re not a member f**k off, like they’d say in any other club in the world, but I won’t, I’m just trying to make you understand why Posada is how he is. Get off his back. He speaks in general for over 40k people.
I’ll tell you now for nothing, and this isn’t meant as an insult, but where I sit, the fans could not give a toss what none match going fans, think. They honestly could not possibly care less. And that’s why over 40K still turn up.
Why aren’t they singing much? Maybe because of the doom and gloom around the club. We hate Ashley more than you, but having a crappy owner is part and parcel of supporting any club. We’re a club in crisis, you expect us to be happy?
For those like cockney mafia who claim to know why people support Newcastle, he doesn’t. Not a clue.
This is us. Like it, don’t like it, we don’t care. Get over it.
Sorry it dragged on, but that’s life too.

So we now saying your not a fan if you don’ have a ST or you don’t live in the UK,
bearing in mind the platform being used to make these ridiculous statements is a US based blog set up to try and keep NUFC fans around the world in touch with the club they love,
and now the bird brains on here are telling them there not fans,

SO WHEN IS A FAN NOT A FAN AND WHO DECIDES ?????????????

Yes Genjikai, old age comes to everybody and we all die. Using that as an insult shows how immature you are. With old age comes wisdom. Good luck with that. At least I’ve loved life and enjoyed it, not spent my youth bleating and crying like you. You’ll never understand the likes of me so don’t even try, it’ll mush your brains.
Think what it is you’re saying – and you Hibbett, the dickhead who decided to point me out at the game by pointing out himself; because it wasn’t me pal.
You put up with Ashley for 12 years, but suddenly, because you stop going, we all should? Ha ha ha ha ha ha!!! Dream on. Now you’re upset because we won’t?
I gave up one game to show I wasn’t happy. My choice. Looks like nobody else did. 47k with loads still on holiday? I’m happy with my choices, clearly you’re not. Unlucky. Grow up. You don’t get to make demands of me or other people. Who tf do you think you are? “Listen to me. I’m right. You’re wrong”.
Oh yeah, Genjikai, think of your own insults. Repeating mine back at me only makes you look stupid pal. Get a life eh. I loved my life and will until I die, but that comes to all of us, you included. If you have half as exciting life as me, we’ll done.” Ner Ner Ner Ner, you’ll die soon”. Seriously? 😀 Are you sure you’re over ten years of age? Dick.

I think it’s plain to see what I mean by rants and condescending manner

There’s much less scolding by the boycotters than there are excuses by the matchgoers and plain angry diatribes. Just go and pay up in silence we get it. Nobody is pointing a weapon at you. The more you justify it though, the more frustration you provoke.

It’s a valid point that the old school notion of loyal support through thick and thin doesn’t really translate to the modern age any more than darning socks and bathtubs in the yard do. It is a different age and the focus is on media earnings and what used to be a billboard for scaffolders, scrap merchants and builders yards in the area is now the marketing tool leveraged by corporate brand-blazing institutions worldwide. The cloth capped goalie in woolly jumper with a rollie in the corner of his mouth is no more, the workboot – thumped Casey in the mud has vanished. So has the poor working class man who never travelled out of town his whole life and lived on the breadline, and who was ingrained in the identity of his home town area, who lived for the weekend game to lift him briefly out of the sad drudgery of his pointless life. All gone.

It’s good on the one hand to keep tradition alive. It’s sad on the other to be obviously the last vestige of a bygone age. It’s even sadder to see a voracious money grabber like Ashley prey on that sentiment without really giving back more than he feels obliged to.

Martoon sorry if it made you cross but the reality of it is that the club would be run as always on TV money as it is to king over with atm and anyway I very much doubt any omelettes can be made without breaking eggs. It’s sad to see that age- defeatist attitude has taken over but if what you say is true that nothing can be done there’s worse to come isn’t there?

Just to be clear I’m not in any way saying we shouldn’t if at all possible support our club in whatever way we can, but that unfortunately the corporates have changed the goalposts quotes bit. However it does mean they are more reliant on brand image and publicity that they used to be. Which is why actions that lead to bad publicity can do so much nowadays whereas in the past your local businessman couldn’t give a hoot because he only had so much money and you got what you were given and accepted it.

Contrary to defeatist views, well publicised fan action, especially social media driven which is becoming mainstream if it isn’t already, is actually effective. It might have been futile in the past to stand with a placard outside sjp, but that’s not the case now. Brand image can be hit with very little persuasion and a lot of info. Unfrtunately it’s some of us older ones can’t see that’s what is happening now.

hibbit – So we now saying your not a fan if you don’ have a ST or you don’t live in the UK.

    That isn’t the point.

The real point being made is that the ONLY thing that has in any way made NUFC a ‘great’ club over the years is the level of support that fans have given a club that hasn’t won a domestic trophy in 64 years and no trophy at all for 50 years.

As Bobbybee rightly points out, without that level of home, and away, support we would just be another club without any of the special attraction and media attention we receive because of it.

Would Rafa have approached us without knowing the history and reputation of our support? I doubt it. He certainly didn’t come because of Ashley’s reputation that’s for sure.

Staying in the Prem and maintaining 50,000 crowds is the single biggest reason why we might still attract the cash spending billionaire new owner that we all want and for certain they will also know, like Rafa did, that even winning a League Cup will make them legends.

The international, stay at home and boycotters may be fans of the club… I don’t deny that…

    BUT…

Without the past and present paying supporters of NUFC we wouldn’t be the club that we are today.

    That is a fact.

Bills “Staying in the Prem and maintaining 50,000 crowds is the single biggest reason why we might still attract the cash spending billionaire new owner that we all want”

We have attracted them, but Ashley hasn’t wanted to sell.

We collectively need to make the difference – show him that selling is the only viable option, because if he doesn’t then he’s going to be derided in the press, shown to be a clown and a charlatan and lose any and all respectability he has left.

The protests are not meant to be setting one fan against another, they’re meant to be leveraging Ashley to sell to the next available buyer.

Surely this is something we can all get behind, even if some of us can’t not go to the game. Unity of purpose is what’s required, not one side turning on the other.

Those who go should applaud those who don’t, those who don’t go should encourage those who do to make twice as much noise when in the ground than they otherwise would, to make up for the fact they won’t be there.

This petty bickering is getting us nowhere.

Apologies, I don’t mean to single you out, just thought I could use your words to make a point, no offence meant.
