Our Predicted Starting Eleven At Tottenham – A Return To Arsenal For Bruce?

We think Steve Bruce is going to return to the line-up that started against Arsenal two weeks ago. He has hinted that Sean Longstaff may return in his press conference today. We also think that Javier Manquillo will get back into the squad.

Steve Bruce will not change the formation for the trip to Spurs as stated in his press conference this morning:

“I thought we did very very well against Arsenal for a large part of the game. So I think we can talk about formations, and this, that, and the other. But it’s you you really perform.

“We may tinker a little bit and change one or two things. I think it’s too early to start really radically changing formations. We’ve only played twice.”

We have taken the cue from this statement that Bruce may be thinking of using the same line-up he used against Arsenal. While that may be a simple-minded approach, we just have a feeling that is what he will do.

It also looks like Allan Saint-Maximin will make the trip to London. So the bench will look something like this:

Karl Darlow, Jetro Willems, Federico Fernandez, Ki Sung-yueng, Emil Krafth, Allan Saint-Maximin, and Yoshinori Muto.

Is this the twilight zone or something seriously?? He keeps saying we did well against Arsenal, but we played really quite poorly against an Arsenal side who were playing at about 40% of their level..

He keeps saying it like it’s some kinda bar or level we need to get back to. If that’s our level then relegate us now please!!

    Hmmmm, result against Spurs?
How to put this, Spurs football team is the Proctology Doctor, Newcastle football team is the patient.
Afternoon Newcastle, seems polite from the Spurs football team, drop your pants, wow that was quick no offering of a drink first, Spurs, no that’s at half time your going to need it.

    Starting Eleven,
Dubs, Elliot, Darlow, Jamaal, Fernandez, Dummet, Manny, Yeds, Krafth, Schar with Migs midfielder / attacker.
    Essentially the formation is 10 – 1

You’ve deliberately misled the blog or misled a room full of people, doesn’t matter what else you have to say.

You’ve caught yourself out after deliberately trying to catch others out.

For two weeks you’ve tried every trick to discredit and bad mouth TMG and fans who protest and boycott, apart from possibly Toon22 I doubt theres a regular poster who berates the fans who go the way you berate those who don’t.

Your agenda is there for everyone to see and how you go about it.

You dont speak for me, I dont speak for you, it’s as easy as that, nothing else for us to say to each other.

Enjoy your bank holiday weekend because I certainly will.

All we can ask for against Spurs is an organised, strong, confident performance. The result isn’t so important as us actually competing!

I have no desire to know who they are.
I did ask how many members do they have.
It would appear it’s about 6 or 7 if their meeting is anything to go by.

Misled ? Who and how ?
I did not want to give an account of their meeting.
Only did so when called a liar.

This fella does enough to discredit TMG.
No match goers left on this blog or so it seems at times.
    BB, BSIB and myself.
Should tell folks all they need to know.

TMG probably don’t want to cause this grief for match goers.
However, they need to be careful.

It won’t be much surprise to anybody if Bruce plays 352. But does he really have to announce this a day before the game. This will be of interest to one of the best managers in the PL pochetino. Who now has time to work out all the different tactics he will need to win the game. Nice one Bruce!!

If fit ASM needs to start.

Highest successful dribbles in European leagues last season. You need players who can dribble past 2 or 3 to break a teams defensive shape as one is beaten it draws another out of position making space for teammates.

Almiron needs to be played out wide primarily and drift in behind the lines. Gets buffested and bashed around too easily trying to come deep picking up the ball with his back to goal.

Schar needs dropping. he’s been awful in our opening two. Under Rafa he’d hit 2 or 3 sublime passes a match in the right circumstance. His decision making has been abysmal under Bruce. Every pass he’s elaborating now for the sake of it and gallivanting forward with abandon too, leaving us wide open. Lost all discipline.

Shelvey needs dropping because he has quickly reverted to old habits and isn;t even demanding the ball and doing anything with it to make up for it.

With all that in mind, my team would be (I know Bruce isn;t going to change formation and go with something similar again):

    _______________Dubs
    Manquillo_Fernandez_Lascelles__Dummett
    ________Hayden____Longstaff
    Ritchie________ASM________Almiron
    ____________Joelinton

Stop using Joelinton as a target man and keep it on the ground.

Fernandez in to give us some more defensive know-how and grit.

    Manquillo back in for Krafth.

Dummett back in in best position.

Ritchie back to his RWF role where he can provide a threat cutting in and work with Manquillo on the overlap. Will help the high press too with him and Almiron up there. Two hardwoking widemen who will track back to double up.

    Predicted lineup:

Same as last time except maybe Krafth out for Manquillo and Longstaff for Ki.

The pressure is obviously getting to him so he feels the need to defend himself. He needs to be more composed and motivate his players behind closed doors.

I don’t think a boycott will achieve much as the revenue lost won’t be massive in comparison to what we get from TV revenue. But I wouldn’t say it’s a bad idea and it every little helps to target Ashley.

I think there are a number of things which could be done to make a difference:

    – banners at home and away games
    – work with other clubs who have suffered (sunderland, bury, bolton, etc) to try and get some change from government/the FA to make football clubs have protected status like listed buildings, national parks, heritage sites due to their importance to communities
    – continue with protests
    – target SD with regular blockades at distribution centres
    – target SD online (eg have people make complaints to the store which take up significant admin resource, have people submit freedom of information requests under GDPR legislation which have tight timescales and again impacts his resource)

There needs to be a much more joined up approach. If a fan wants to keep attending, let them, but support them to push for change in other ways. People need to accept that every person won’t do every single form or protest, just get people to do as much as they can and it will add up.

Can people forget about the whole match day revenue not meaning anything to Ashley, Yous are not seeing the bigger picture. Do you think the owners of Inter Milan and these other clubs cared about the ticket sales they missed out on or the massive hit on their reputation and media coverage of their boycotts?

    Bruce bingo lineup:

    Dubravka
    Schar, Lascelles, Dummett
    Manquillo, Hayden, Long-Sean, Ritchie
    Almiron, ASM
    Joelinton

Same formation as used last season. If ASM not able to go, then move Almiron over to left and play Muto in Ayoze’s old spot.
