After an unfair week for local lad Paul Dummett, he had a magnificent performance in Newcastle’s terrific win at Spurs. Here is a little of Paul’s interview after the match in which he was asked about his comment last week regarding the warm-up. He also almost made a mistake but caught himself just in time.

Paul has also won Sky Sports Man of the Match with his performance. Here are some of the stats showing his production against Spurs.
?? Man of the Match, @NUFC’s Paul Dummett

Here is Paul’s instagram post showing off his award.
Fans, and others, have taken to Twitter to give Paul the praise he deserves after his performance at Spurs. It’s nice to see teammate Rob Elliot single him out.
Everyone was tremendous but thought @PaulDummett was outstanding???

Not to overreact or anything but Paul Dummett is the greatest defender to ever grace the game

@PaulDummett put in the best performance I have seen from a Newcastle player for a good few years today, fucking brilliant, put his body on the line , nothing was getting past him

@PaulDummett was absolutely terrific today like, won everything that came his way. Totally deserved his man of the match by far best player on the pitch for me today.

Comment #3Dummett us the classic example of some fans not having a clue about football.
He has taken more more flack and dissing than any player in recent NUFC memory from those who say he is a dinosaur full back, a Chanps player at best and should be shipped out at the earliest opportunity.
He is a magnificent defender who is getting better every season.
Jo and Dummett were top notch today and Almiron with his 100% effort in getting back to help the defence was typical of a fantastic team effort and response to the shambles at Norwich.
Well done to Bruce and the lads.

Comment #4So Bruce has come into heavy slaggings first 2 games but he and the team all deserve praise for today’s game!
He actually showed some bottle to drop Shelvey wonder what kind of performance we will get out of him against Leicester as he’s odds on to start that game I would have thought?
Just wonder how many points we would have had if we had started the 343 in the first 2 games…….. could have been looking at maximum points

Comment #720.2% possession with a Benitez drilled defence. Great result, but some way to go yet.

Comment #9Much easier to stay in a decent shape with a 343 than a 3322, which really just invites the opposition to pass through you. Hope we keep it and just play a slightly higher line at home, and also away against the lesser sides. 343 with Lejeune and Carroll available for the majority of games and I’d back us to finish around tenth.

Comment #11Op I never criticised benitez for playing like that against the top sides. I criticised for other stuff. Thankfully there are far more reasoned and intelligent people on this blog. Otherwise there would be no point engaging. You have little intelligence and zero class. Thats some achievement. Take a bow.

Comment #13Jail, maybe not quite yet. I am hesitant to apportion all glory to Benitez for the win, but the defensive synchronicity running through the side sure looks like good habits Benitez influenced.
Was Bruce “brave” for dropping Shelvey? Not quite sure about that. Seemed like an obvious choice for an away game.
Like most other fans, if Bruce keeps producing against the wall wins, his charm will start working. I am just cautious that the possession stats are a warning sign. Benitez sides could play comfortably without the ball… the transition of styles remains to be seen: yet.

Comment #14Ritchie is a miles better wing back than winger. Willems won’t get in the team unless Ritchie gets injured, which he doesn’t. I used to moan on about Matt Ritchie, but now I’m delighted with him. Should have been there all his career. Krafth on the other side looks solid going both ways. Disappointed for Manquillo, who I like, particularly going forward, but it looks quite obvious that they’ve draughted in Krafth to start. Physically impressive player and good solid pro. Definitely strengthens us defensively.

Comment #15I do hope now that players around Big Joe can see he holds up the ball really well and understand they can benefit from playing closer to him.
Yes he ain’t Ronnie, but Ronnie wasn’t Ronnie until he scored his first league goal in November once he got a lot fitter, Joe needs to work a little on his fitness but scored his first goal for the club in Aug, hope this is the start of something special.
Migs looked good today and ran way more and defended way more that Perez, but Perez scored goals and Migs needs to start doing the same before we forget about Perez, Max still on the fence as he hasn’t really played.
Jonjo sorry but Hay and Sean in the middle is so much better than you and anyone. Both work there arses off which sadly isn’t your game.
The team still needs some real tinkering, yes we won today but only because Spurs didn’t have there shooting boots on, not taking anything from the win but if teams have 80 odd percent possession we will get hammered by most.
Sorry just being realistic, I love the win the players deserved it as did the fans, but we cannot sit that far back all season.
