Two Loan Boys See Action In Carabao Cup

Liam Gibson started for Grimsby Town at home against Macclesfield in this evening’s cup match. It was only his second time on the pitch for the Mariners due to some injury trouble to start this season. However, the game only made it to the half-time before being suspended due to rain.

Elias Sorensen made his third appearance for Carlisle United from the bench. Sorensen came on in the 64th minute in Carlisle’s 2-1 loss to away to Rochdale.

I found the convo earlier interesting about the past ‘hard men’ of Newcastle.

Good thing they never met me as I have a rep for being a bit of a hard man myself.

Just give me a keyboard and a computer and I’m good to go.

jane, Northumberland Park is lovely indeed, but crucially, and this is the key point, it’s not in Blyth.

    😉

And the cafe isn’t a patch on Mr Ridley’s – honestly, everyone should go there for lunch, it’s great. If you take your dog they’ll give it a sausage for free, too.

Watford had a nice easy midweek game it seems. Rested some players, record signing got his first goal, ended a run of defeats and pretty much comfortable night with 3-0 win.

I may be sad but decided to look at past threads again like last night. Good old Kets. Bit more chilled and realistic nowadays.

Value would be around 30 million in my eyes if he wanted to go. If he is happy then we should keep him and reject anything up to around 45.

Nicky can the players out of 25 man squad actually play? I didn’t think they could. Thought it’s only 25 man squad and those under 21.

Could play if the rules would allow us then. 🙂

Saivet, Aarons and Colback are decent footballers who should be helping out elsewhere, if we can’t use them, and of course, their wages, and Gayle’s too, would have covered the addition on loan of one really, really good defensive mid for example, or one really good winger that would have made a big difference to us. Still annoys me this.

I think I had a deprived childhood – I didn’t work in the ship yards and didn’t know any hard men! However I do have a claim to fame that Viv Graham bought my wife’s uncle’s house – her uncle was always cagey about it but I got the impression Graham paid cash!!!!

On the subject of hard doormen getting negative press on here earlier I heard a great story from a young lad I worked with a few years back. According to him after a European fixture at SJP a few years bsck against Benfica, him and a mate had a few post match pints. On thier way to Central Station they got some abuse from a red clad bunch of Portugese chaps. After trying to calm the situation down they got attacked by them at the bottom of Grainger Street. Within seconds the lads off the door of what was then Long Bar were pulling the Benfica fans back, after less than a minute the doormen from Sports Bar (Mile Castle now) were there protecting them, and within a few minutes every doorman within a half mile radius was there. It could have easily escalated into a brawl, but all the doormen did was stop two lads getting a severe shoeing, and calming down the Benfica bunch, then forwarding and escorting them to the Jurys Inn where they were staying. The description he gave was incredibly professional, and on the part of the first 2 doormen there, incredibly brave.

Jimmy Scoular was as hard as they come!
He would have given Norman Hunter of Leeds a run for his money!

Jesus Liam, you’ve got a pot belly. Rumor has it that when he went for his medical, Grimsby’s club doctor said open your mouth and say oink.

Or, or, the shading around the bottom of that top of theirs can on occasion lend itself to a somewhat unflattering photo.

    Hard to say. 🙂

It’s a disgrace that these fantastic old clubs are being allowed to go out of the league’s. While the greedy owners get away with miss management and taking the money. The rich clubs look on and do nothing.

So Ronaldo has won blogger of the year 2019, but while we are on the subject of hardmen, who is the blog hardman 2019? Bladey? He seems a bit radge. Jail? Doesn’t take any prisoners. Baloney? Singlehandedly gets in a fight with the entire blog. Jib? Holds his own again an army of critics. OLG? Not someone you want to argue with.

It wouldn’t hurt the premier league to donate half a million or so to all the league 1 & 2 sides, which should keep them going and provide a higher quality league for youths. The parachute payments have helped turn the championship into one of the better leagues in Europe. Most other leagues just have 1-3 teams with a tonne of cash then a bunch of league 1 sides making up the numbers. We have 30+ decent teams in England.

Well done Matt for his decisive reaction to what could have been a bad situation.
