Emil Krafth seems to have missed today’s training session due to the thigh strain he suffered on Wednesday against Leicester City. However, both Miguel Almiron and Jetro Willems have taken part. Almiron and Willems were said to be doubts for Watford in Bruce’s press conference this morning.
Steve Bruce admitted this morning that he has concerns about whether several of his players will be fit for tomorrow's match, but @JetroWillems_15, Joelinton and Miguel Almirón all took part in today's session.
And it was great to see @yedlinny, too.https://t.co/xXQTqe9MuU pic.twitter.com/K3PItRyt1h

It may be that Emil Krafth does not take part in tomorrow’s match at Watford. We did see a smiling Javier Manquillo in some of the images the club has released. He can come into the side tomorrow if need be and hopefully blend back into the team.
Manquillo played well against Arsenal in the first match this season. He also played some of his best football for Newcastle when he replaced DeAndre Yedlin towards the end of last season. We noticed that DeAndre participated in the session so he must be getting really close to a return.
We are very hopeful that Jetro Willems can start on Saturday. He played exceptionally well on Wednesday and is a natural left-back. If he can take part against Watford that would be a nice boost for Steve Bruce.
It also looks like a pretty good bet that Miguel Almiron will start tomorrow. He had a tremendous performance against Tottenham where he ran himself into the ground.
From these images, it looks like a relaxed group as they prepare for Watford. This is a great opportunity for the lads to pick up three points and climb the table before the international break.

Comment #2Off topic i know but does anyone know whats going on with Callum Roberts? Hes just signed for Blyth Spartans after an unsuccessful trial at Boro. Surely hes better than that. Is there something else about him that nobody seems to want him?

Making such a big thing of having high attendances at SJP, fans supporting a team that’s run on a relative shoestring, a squad that’s barely adequate and doesn’t provide quality back up options, I wonder whether you’re missing something?
Yes, to you you’re supporting Newcastle United and hoping to compete to win trophies, rub shoulders with the top eight but sadly you’re supporting Newcastle United as resourced and structured by Ashley.
So, where does NUFC fit into things, why did Ashley buy the club?
He bought NUFC to promote his brand – SD ans so
He plastered his ads into every spot he could, ensuring maximum exposure – even from the air! SD pays £2m a year for having that exposure provided to an international audience of TV viewers.
Oh, and in the meantime, he’s diverted revenue away from the club to other companies in the MASH/ SD family and sold off land to have student accommodation built on it, blocking any expansion potential for SJP.
So, he wonders how he can be sure his advertising gets maximum exposure and bingo, he decides that the club needs to be in the Prem and on TV as often as possible. But he doesn’t really want to take the risk that NUFC might be too successful and have to compete in cup competitions and heaven forbid, Europe. That’d mean spending money!
So, he makes sure that NUFC is run as cheaply as possible, not win anything but not be relegated – fit for purpose. He refuses to share the vision of a well respected football man and forces Rafa out of the door and to be replaced by an average head coach giving him a threadbare squad to ensure the club avoiding relegation which would leave SD underexposed on the worldwide stage that the Prem provides. The less exposure, the less benefit NUFC gives him and SD.
So, Bills son, what exactly are you supporting? What are you really supporting? Could it be Ashley and his first love, Sports Direct?
Think about it.

Comment #4Dexter53 – Whilst I couldn’t say for sure as I obviously don’t know the lad. Given that he had a trial at Middlesbrough first and now settled at Blyth, it’s perhaps in part down to wanting to stay in the area but I think a big part of it could be having Lee Clark as manager again. I’ve no doubt he’ll have had offers at a higher level but he’d still be close to family and friends and the fact Lee’s gone back for him again will show a lot of trust in him.

Comment #7When steve said last week that he thought it was ridiculous that people were saying he couldn’t even do a warm up properly I kinda agreed with him. But the other part of me is saying the one biggest sign players have not had proper warms is a lot of injuries at once.
Over the past month we must have had 10 mild to moderate injuries to various players.
The one thing ppl dont realise about Newcastle and the reason why we suffer a lot of injuries is because we are up north where it’s cold, hard pitches, icy days etc are a recipe for injury. But we cant use that excuse just yet, not for another few months.

You couldn’t be more wrong. I do support NUFC but do not go to matches simply because I’m not able to.
Sadly, Ashley’s using NUFC is nothing more than an advertising platform and by giving their all to it, they are perpetuating the existence of that advertising platform in the guise of a football club that’s effectively subsidising SD.

Comment #11Its ‘Et al.’ The capitalisation and period are very important.
On a serious note when will people realise MA doesn’t do things because he’s worried about how he looks. He wouldn’t be remotely concerned about thinking he’d have to spend money if we got bigger because he just wouldn’t care. He spends what he want’s to spend and wouldn’t be pressured into spending a penny more.
I dont think hes sitting at home trying to control a balancing act, between getting too big OR spending too much money and getting relegated.
We could get massive and he would still tell us all to Pìss off in his own miserible indomitable way if he didnt want to spend more than was required.

Comment #12Hibbit you will see in a few weeks time how wrong you are! Richie is average at best and neither of us really know how the new players are in his position, they dont look like world beaters but I’m willing to guess they will be no different to Richie, and they could even be better given time.
I dont rate Richie accept for his leadership and work rate. But im willing to bet Willems will eventually keep him benched once he gets 2-3 months under his belt at Newcastle.

Then I don’t think you quite grasp how important leadership and work rate is to this squad, it was sadly lacking under Mclaren with players like Lascelles having to scrap with players like Jaanmat!

Comment #23Lesh – So, Bills son, what exactly are you supporting? What are you really supporting? Could it be Ashley and his first love, Sports Direct?
Don’t be daft.
If by going to games I’m actually supporting Ashley and SD then so are c50,000 others.
Support the team and not the regime may be a cliche,
But, what you and your cronies don’t get is that it is TRUE.
If we all stayed away what then?
Zero crowd and zero atmosphere and support for the team…
A real laughing stock throughout the world never mind the UK…
Bruce trampled in the rush of agents banging on his door and players wanting away in January.
I could go on.
Your stupid simpleton opinion that going to a match means we actually support Ashley is an insult to true fans.
And don’t tell me the money we spend on tickets is ‘support’.
That is the last resort of your type of ‘fan’.

Comment #28We could be the first team ever under the innovative Steve Bruce, renowned for his invention of the 3-5-2 in the nineties, which seen him headhunted by the likes of Wigan and Hull to use a 2.5-5.5-2 where the use of a RWB/LWB switches between sides depending on where the attack or defence is needed at the time.

Comment #34Bills, you wont convince these guys. Most are too stupid to realise that its actually Ok to ask questions, as I did from early on about Bnitez, but still respect him hugely and want to do well. Remember I travelled across Ireland to see him. Obviously I despised the man!! So they ALL got that one wrong. And still do, but stuff @em. Similarly if I put up that you are deeply in love with Sports Direct and only go to the games to worship St Michael of Ashley, I will get about 20 stars, like Lesh has above. Remember I got starred for saying Ashley had Chlamydia! 🙂 Ignore them, support your local team because if people dont, they will probably do less well at home and get relegated. And then Ashley will still be here. The only really famous thing about NUFC is its disproportionate support relative to its actual success. Support the team, support NUFC, Howay the lads.

Comment #40Such a bitten miserable bastard Jail. Must have felt odd to cheer for a win under the new manager you clearly hate. Maybe yourself and your lap dog Tsunki can come up with a formula that will allow you to actually support the manager – Winning the prem maybe? Because bitchy Tarquin has already shown his colours by saying that he wont accept this man until he had won him some silver or a Euro place. There are some serious plums on this site but he’s way offline with this one. Why dont we praise and criticise the manager as we see fit? Thus, I criticised him after Norwich and praised him after Spurs. Not that complicated is it. Its called not having an agenda. Try it sometime.
