Sport Witness have an article reporting that Valencia are looking at Javier Manquillo as an answer to their right-back issue. Sport Witness site two Spanish outlets as the source for their report.
Valencia recently lost their starting right-back Cristiano Piccini to a serious knee injury. The Italian suffered a broken kneecap during training on Wednesday and is out for five months.
The Spanish club were hoping to bring Napoli’s Elseid Hysaj in on loan. However, the Serie A side are unwilling to let the player leave on a loan deal. Now, according to the reports in Spain, Valencia may look to bring Javier Manquillo as an option at right-back. The Spanish transfer window is open until Monday.
With the current injury crisis that has befallen Newcastle, we doubt Steve Bruce would allow Manquillo to leave. While the club have three options at right-back, Manquillo is currently the only one who is fit. Emil Krafth is suffering from a thigh strain while DeAndre Yedlin is still coming back from groin surgery.

Comment #5Pleased that Cal Roberts has a new club. It seems he wanted to stay in the North East, given that he was talking with Boro and has signed with Blyth. Surely he could have found a place in a League club, but if Blyth is a stepping stone for him then so be it, I’d hate to see him end up with no career at all.

Comment #6And they can keep their hands off’ve Manquillo, too.
We could see Manquillo cover the left WB slot, with Ritchie and Willems out. Not beyond the realms of possibility, honestly – he has a usable left foot anyway.

Comment #9Couple of Lee Ryders on here that think running about a lot makes you a good footballler?
Ritchie is a top class hard worker with a great attitude to do his best.
Footballing ability is limited to top end Championship at the very best. Yous are deluded if you think Ritchie is a Premier League quality player.

Comment #10We have to keep Manquillo.
I’m surprised he hasn’t had a starting game so far this season.
He’ll now get an opportunity to state his claim for a regular starting place.

Ritchie is a championship quality player playing in the Premier League. I think that qualifies as being out of depth.

Name me more than 3 starting left backs in the league that Matt Ritchie is better than.

Playing 5 at the back isn’t because we have not got 4 good enough defenders. Our squad suits it much better. Amount of good CBs we have compared with CMs or attackers. Shelvey was pesh the other night v Leicester. He doesn’t deserve a place in the team. Our results are better when he doesn’t play.

Comment #14Aye what a brilliant idea, lets sell one of the still fit competent defenders we have.
I’m sure that Mike will sanction the deal.

Comment #16I don’t think Ritchie is out of his depth at all. Fair to say he isn’t the best player in the world in his position, however, he is the best at our club. I’ve certainly seen far worse players start in the Premier League era quite regularly for their clubs whom are far worse.
