Goalscorer Disappointed With Just One Point And Gives Injury Clarification

Fabian Schar had another good performance in a Newcastle shirt against Watford this afternoon. The Swiss defender took matters into his own hands late in the first half with a great finish from inside the box.

Fabian gave an interview on NUFC TV after today’s draw and described his goal:

“It was just there in the right space. The ball flicked in front of my foot and I could score. It was important that we could equalize before half time. We thought we could win the game in the second half. We had some chances.”

Here is some video of the 27-year-old’s nice finish.

Schar was replaced by Federico Fernandez late in the game. He was asked what led to his late substitution:

“I felt a little bit dizzy and sick. I could’t see good. I wanted to play, of course, but it was the right decision to come off because I wasn’t able to see everything.”

It’s very good news that Fabian did not suffer an injury today. The last thing Newcastle need is another top player going down with an injury. He should also be available for Switzerland’s EURO Qualifier against Ireland on Thursday.

Ultimately though, Fabian was upset with today’s result. He feels it was two points lost but still thinks the team is in a good place going forward. This is what he said about today’s game:

“The start was quite bad to be honest. Still we played at home, especially after the game at Spurs we wanted to get the three points here, I’m disappointed to only get one point. I think this week we showed we are in a good way, and if we continue working like this we’ll be very positive.”

The performance was not bad in the least. The team worked hard but just couldn’t finish their chances today. Well, with the exception of Fabian who put his away with no problem.

The ashley enablers and facilitators don’t make much noise do they? Quiet as the grave most of the time.

Pleasantly surprised by Willems today and Shar very good too. Longstaff is going to take a little while to get back to where he was.

We made a lot of mistakes which Watford could have capilised on.
At the finish was glad of a point.
Need to see again how atsu missed a chance of a tap in.he can be good but can be eratic takes a canny corner.

Just got back. Wtf is that about a poor atmosphere today? Try being there, it was very good today, singing start to finish. I’d rather have 44k there making that noise tbh. Nowt wrong with the atmosphere today.

Bobby are you fuc*ing serious!? The atmosphere was dire. i’m in the East stand next to Strawberry corner and fair play they make a bit of noise but the rest of the ground is a morgue!!

You’re kidding yourself pal, the atmosphere was pretty dire and the football was even more dire.

Care to comment on the swathes of empty seats?

Ashley is strangling this club to death.

    Query question onVar and offsides
Today Almiron was put through rounde the keeper and scored went to VAR
    Ruled offside
Atsu pu through was onside stopped and they got the free kick
Question is should players ie Atsu have gone on and scored would they have had to go to VAR

In other words should a player that is put through ignore the flag whistle if offside or not and go on and try to score???

Ok jib i know you like to know you get all excited but we’re you at the match as well? I wasn’t, I never heard much outside it as usual so when another poster said it was naff and then it’s 44k lowest crowd i put it forward that the noisier section must be the ones staying away. You’re a grade a cellar snipe aren’t you tell you what get out in the sun and fresh air once ina while and give your mam a break and a chance to vacuum your room. You never know if you lay off the Fanta and wotsits you could get the benifit of not just losing weight but your junk might return to normal colour. Chump.

I’ve no agenda i think the problem is there are a few posters all hyped up expecting one. Obviously they needed to come out guns blazing everything in the park rosy etc seeing as the crowd is 8k short 2nd home game in. Thats not my or anyone’s fault but mike’s.

Strangely enough, the game was being played inside the ground and there was plenty of noise today, whether that fits certain agendas or not.
We won’t be relegated this season, not imo. At least we looked like winning in the second half, and kept attacking. Like I say, not gelled quite yet but early signs are decent.”

Not looking for a row Bobby but how can a regular attender seriously believe that was plenty of noise? Everybody where I sit is sick to the back teeth, attending out of both duty and loyality, and as for won’t be relegated? Yeah maybe not as long as we get rid of Bruce before New Year and fetch Fat Sam in to save us, woeful squad and woeful tactics.
That was both awful and very worrying again today, to say otherwise you’re just kidding yourself to justify keep going.

Highlights? Joelinton, Atsu and Willems played well however that won’t save us from being bottom 3 along with Watford.

Big teams are gonna tear us a new one this season and I expect the atmosphere to be absolutely toxic by Xmas.

Charlie @9 – the trouble is Almiron was yellow carded for doing it so then you always run the risk of a second yellow!

Jail if I’m honest I’m just addicted to the whole match day, the getting ready, the train journey, meeting mates i only see on match days, the strippers, the drink… Newcastle united tends to be the only thing that spoils the day.

The lads i attend with live and breathe the Toon, we’re all as sick as each other, If I thought a boycott would oust Ashley I’d be 100% behind it but I don’t think we could gather enough numbers to actually make a difference, too many people are like me, sheep addicted to the match…

In 35 years I’ve never sensed such a low mood, It’s like we’ve been brainwashed to accept mediocrity.

The empty seats today were very very telling, the Ashley apologists Posada et al can bleat as much as they like but trouble is brewing.

“Tbf it wouldn’t be unusual for us to struggle against these sorts of teams and then roll over some of the top five ha ha in fact that’s virtually the club’s m.o. for the last couple of years isn’t it?”

we beat Man C but apart from that no. lets see about your theory in our next match which is away to Liverpool.

Charlie – In theory and in European leagues and competitions yes, the players should continue and put the ball in the net. The prem have decided to interpret it their own way and the linesmen have still been instructed to flag, even if it’s tight.

    Aye Paully,
Had all day with the kids, would have been nowt better than taking the pair if them up to our seats, OUR, seats and making a day of it, had to tell them we’re not there today because the owner is worse than Boris Johnson, I’ve had to make sacrifices.
