Who Was Newcastle’s Man Of The Match In Draw Against Watford?

Make no mistake about it, this is a disappointing result for the lads this afternoon. While the performance was decent, a draw against this Watford side seems like two points lost. Watford were there for the taking. A poor performance in the final third has cost Newcastle two points, and a very high place in the league for the international break.

Joelinton did very well in build-up play but had far too few chances. Miguel Almiron has had another poor display in front of goal. While he played very well making some good runs, his finishing has been disappointing.

There were some good performances individually as Christian Atsu and Jetro Willems were excellent today. After a shaky start at the back, the defenders ended up playing decently. Martin Dubravka also made a few good saves after a first half where he didn’t have much to do.

Watford did fashion a few chances late, and arguments could be made that a draw is a fair result. However, this was at home against a struggling side, and Newcastle just didn’t put it all together this afternoon. They showed glimpses but lacked that little bit extra this afternoon.

However, they have risen up the table out of the relegation zone as they enter the break. The next match is away at Anfield, and we’ll need to see a performance like the one at Spurs against Liverpool.

I go for Andy Caroll because he’s taller and would have reached some of our crosses

    It’s Willems for me.
A good buy for £5 mill.
4 from 4. I’d have taken that before the season began.

Am I the only one wondering how people seemingly can’t spell ‘willems’ correctly?

Watford were awful and easy to see why they’ve lost last 7 before us – if we can’t beat them at home then we’ll be struggling with them in relegation places come end of season …very poor display all round , I’ll give Bruce a 4

Ffs we didn’t beat Cardiff when Kennedy missed a penalty last season, it happens, we dropped two points then.

We didn’t play badly today. If anything, we were weak in the middle of the park. We need two new centre midfielders. The plus points were Jetro Willems and Christian Atsu. Both had great games. Willems hardly gave the ball away. Looks decent. Not sure about Krafth, Looks a battler though. We still need at least a holding midfielder, 1 winger, a box to box midfielder, a playmaker and 2 strikers.

Atsu shades it. Looking fully fit and confident for the first time in a long time.

Showing plenty of creativity and awareness in his play, he can foresee how moves play out and link them up unlike Almiron, good pass selection and and ball control in tight areas again.

If the season ended now, in wish I hope the foot it would, we could look at 14th and see it as a massive success and especially if we got offered 50M for Lascelles.

Thoma @4:14….. what kinda fan am I?? I know what kinda fan you are, the Cúnt type! You can scroll back for years and you will never once see me write about Shelvey, because I dont rate him hes not good enough at everything else. Being able to pass the ball long is not enough.

Now go annoy someone else ya bellend ya!

Watford’s not the worst team. They’ll finish around mid-table. We should’ve played 4-4-2. Need two up front.

4 points after 4 games.. and? Today we played a team at home, who had lost their 3 first games BIG.. (looked shitty in the first 3 games)

Have you guys seen the next 7 games?
If we get more than 4 points in those games, it is a

My guess is 7 points after 11 games.. And we will be 20th in the league.

Mag52 we didnt buy Willems we only got him on loan. Everyone saying Watford looked good in previous games on this showing they are going down. They were by far the poorest team we have played yet.
