Isaac Hayden had another excellent performance in the midfield for Newcastle United yesterday. What a battler Isaac is in the center of the pitch. He has become one of the core members of this team in such a short period of time.
Yesterday’s match represented Isaac’s 24th straight start in the Premier League for Newcastle dating back to December of last year. Since he got into the side, he has become one of our star performers and is now one of the first names on the team sheet.
The match also was his 100th appearance for the club. It is a shame that the occasion could not have been marked with a victory for Isaac.
Hayden gave an interview to the Newcastle United website after yesterday’s match. These are some of his thoughts about the outcome:
“It’s hard to tell at the minute if it’s two points dropped. We’ve had a lot of chances. I thought it was a good game with a lot of chances at both ends of the pitch. I thought we had the better of them, and if we were more clinical, we could have taken the three points.
“They’re a good side. Their position in the table is a bit false, and they’ve just had a bad start. A point can’t be knocked at this stage of the season. Every aspect is important.
“Obviously, we were going for the three points, and you could see that on the pitch, giving everything to go forward and to press and score that goal but sometimes in these games you look back and think it’s a good point.”
At this moment, it does feel like two points lost from yesterday. Newcastle were the better side. Like Isaac said, if they were just that little bit more clinical in front of goal, it might have been three points taken yesterday. However, it didn’t happen, and they get just the one point to take four points from four games.
It’s not a bad start under the circumstances. Though a win was a real possibility and it feels like the lads just didn’t quite do enough to get the victory.
They did well to recover from a horrendous start as Watford were up within the first two minutes. The goal was very fortuitous for Watford as a deflection landed right in the path of Will Hughes who slotted it past Dubravka.
The lads didn’t drop their heads and came right back with a chance at the other end. They kept the pressure on, and Fabian Schar was able to tie the score with his great finish in the box.
Isaac himself had a wonderful shot in the game as well that was well saved by Ben Foster, who was very good for Watford.
So unlucky, @IsaacHayden65!

Isaac talked about the Watford goal, his shot on goal, and also what it means to get his 100th appearance for the club:
“It was a bit of a fluke much like the goal we conceded midweek. There’s been a deflection, fallen to the player and he’s taken the chance from six yards out.
“I thought it was a credit to the lads for rallying round and produce the goal before half-time to put the tie level and give us the platform to go in the second half. I thought we came out and we started with more intensity and played a lot better.
“Ben Foster came to me after the game and told me he didn’t know how he managed to save it! The ball was moving all over the place, and it was a very good save. It wasn’t meant to be, but you could see every single player was giving everything.
“To play 100 games for this club is no mean feat. I’m proud of that, and I hope I can continue to make an impact on the team, progressing in my own personal performances which can, in turn, helps the team to progress.”

Comment #5Lots of players who come to the club fall for the area.
Hayden sounds like one of those.
