Watford have parted ways with Javi Gracia today as he becomes the first manager sacked this season. Gracia was appointed in January 2018 when he replaced Everton’s current manager Marco Silva.
Watford have returned to a familiar face to succeed Gracia in former coach Quique Sanchez Flores.

Sanchez Flores returns to Vicarage Road where he was manager in 2015-16 upon their promotion to the Premier League. The Spaniard was surprisingly sacked following that season despite finishing in 13th position with 45 points.
This is the tenth time in the past eight seasons that Watford have made a coaching change.
The Telegraph had reported in early July that Newcastle were considering Quique Sanchez Flores to replace Rafa Benitez. However, if true, it does not appear that the 54-year-old was high on the list.

Comment #84@NY MAg #57. I agree, surely (shirley), when someone gets sacked for indifferent performance, why would a) The club think it’s a good move to re-hire him and b) Why would the employee go back after being treated so badly?
It can only be for the money – he was unemployed wasn’t he?

Comment #88These managers are on a win win situation. Get sacked big pay off. There’s no loyalty either from owners managers and players. It’s us fans that lose out.

If you think that Parliament’s resistance to Johnson and his cronies’ plans are destroying democracy in the UK, may I suggest you check out BBC 4 (I think) TV and watch ‘The Rise of The Nazis’.
Any reasonable person who’s prepared to exercise their mind would be shocked at the parallels between 1930s Germany and the emergence of Johnson, Reece-Mogg, Farage and other nasties in England today. It’s frightening that people can be so easily duped by vested interests.

Comment #97What are you up against when the likes of “Big Archie” thinks Ashley has done good because we’re not on that list of five or six that have been in financial difficulties, what about the other 86 clubs that haven’t either.

Comment #98And pointing out that he’s had us in the top 20 rich list eight times, considering we were around 13th in the world before he took over I think he’d have been better pointing out that Ashley has managed to take us out of the top twenty four times.

Comment #99DM. – those who ignore the blog rules must be shaking in their boots (NOT).
They can shudder in their boots about the sanction they will receive – Moderation – wow that’ll teach ’em.
An opportunity was missed a couple of days ago to show the miscreants a lesson.
The blog will slowly ramp up again to where it was a couple of weeks ago.
Removing a post has more to do with saving one’s own backside from legal recourse (not removing libellous comment after you are notified of it) than an action to assist those libelled).

Comment #100When it comes to ignoring numerous requests from bloggers and the blog owners not to discuss politics on here then Lesh is the biggest culprit by far.
He is determined to try and convert us all to the loony far left with his constant campaigning as soon as he sniffs an opportunity to pour out his communist rhetoric .
He genuinely believes that we are all misguided fools unless we agree with his extremist left wing views and doesn’t realise what a tool this makes him look.

They jump in as defenders of Blog rules but in reality, they hide behind that and in cases like this, they don’t like to see a view that may expose their own.

Skimmed through last couple of days posts , not much of interest although somebody likened us to Everton and mentioned they made a loss last year and we didn’t …
Everton built a new training ground , sacked 2 managers and staff ( 14 million ) and spent 11 million on initial new ground development.. yet another club pulling way ahead of us – when fatty took over we had half the debt, one of the most modern stadiums in u.k and were on a par if not ahead of the likes of Spurs …. now we have wolves and villa investing more in infrastructure and playing staff but yet still some people in here fattys doing a good job and citing Bury / Bolton as ‘There but for the grace of Ashley’ … Pathetic

Comment #120Well the way you have used Everton to compare the full accounts when the discussion was based on certain aspects of the accounts e.g. the commercial income is very similar now so that was used to show an example of how Ashley isn’t just pocketing every penny from this. Then it was discussed about outsourcing of the commercial activities. The only point on the full accounts was that someone mentioned if they don’t get into Europe they could be in trouble due the their expenditure in which I pointed out they are building a young side for the future.
The main issue with the post is that you say people suggest he’s done a good Job when I don’t know anyone who believes that or have I ever read that on this blog.
