Steve Bruce Says “Signs Are Encouraging” On Player’s Return

We’ve been very impressed with the rapid improvement of Joelinton in playing the number 9 role this season. His past two performances have been outstanding in his hold-up play.

Joelinton is the only option for that role right now. However, that may change in the next few weeks with Andy Carroll edging closer and closer to a return to full training.

There were whispers that next Saturday’s trip to Liverpool was a target date for big Andy’s return. However, he has yet to train with the team so that now seems unlikely.

The Chronicle have published an update from Steve Bruce on the progress of his big Geordie striker:

“I am never going to put an exact time on it.

“The good thing for the supporters is that there’s good work he’s done on the training ground with the rehab and physio people.

“The ankle has had no ill effects. He is not sore and not swollen.

“In the past, that has been the case.

“Let’s hope he can come and train with us for a couple of weeks.

“The early signs are encouraging.”

It is a positive sign that he has suffered no setbacks so far. However, the next step is a return to full training.

We would like to see at least two full weeks of Andy going through training sessions before he is even considered for a place in the matchday squad.

That would make the earliest game for Andy’s return to be at St James Park against Brighton on the 21st of this month. The next fixture is the following Sunday at Leicester City.

However, it’s all going to depend on how Andy fares over the next few weeks when we suspect he will begin training with the lads. If there are no setbacks during these sessions, that would be encouraging signs indeed.

Why would anybody defend him ?

But you see people here doing exactly that like Tonn22 did then.

    Makes you think, don’t it

Remember when , back in the day you would look for when the Liverpool fixture was
As you knew it would be an epic game, it was most years
I can remember when you would follow what the other top teams were doing
Who scored, how they played etc

We are so very far way from that now its hard to believe it even ever happened

On Liverpool it is an utter humiliation that probably the best game in Premier League history where we slugged it out as two heavyweights casts a long shadow over what will be can we just can we keep the score down. People’s expectations have been so lowered that if 0-0 at halftime and then we lose 3-0 in 2nd half as they step up a few gears I guarantee people on here would be making positive noises about it.

trent – in your determination of whether someone has a load of multiples you are certainly not allowed to use as part of your deliberations that said suspect has over the years replied to posts for the other multiples (and vice versa) in his mischief making cabal. Not once or twice but loads of times. A lot on here choose to ignore the “evidence”.

Results in the utter p**s taking of the blog rules.

    Hasnt happened in 13 years

“The Newcastle United Fans Forum meeting a month ago saw the question put once again about the failing Academy and the failure to properly fund and support it (like everything else at Newcastle United), the club/Ashley response to the question was: ‘The club believes the debate around Academies is intensifying. There is a belief that it is becoming more and more difficult to bring through young talent…’
So basically, only 13 months after Mike Ashley’s ‘dream’ of a successful Academy at the heart of Newcastle United, he is refusing to fund any improvements because no guarantee of it producing players.”

I have to say I have never met a Newcastle supporter in the real world who believes the books are legit given it’s an institution that prides itself on lying and has proven malpractice at what, sickeningly, has to be called the club’s parent company, SD. Sorry but c£6m next expenditure on transfers in 12 years and we’re meant to swallow that everything else is tied up in costs?! Give over! Just look at what much smaller clubs are spending. You don’t need to be a forensic auditor to see 2+2 does not = minus 4.

I would agree if you show me evidence. Other clubs are losing money when investing heavily but that’s what there owners are prepared to do but ours isn’t! Look at Crystal Palace last accounts have then in 33m debt for the season. We are running on break even now which should see 50-60m a year available for transfers.

That didn’t make sense we are not running at break even. We are running at a profit which will see 50-60m available to spend a year- that includes property/facility upgrades etc.
