Andy Carroll’s Back Training With The Team But Is Still A Ways Off

With the international break nearing an end and things soon to start returning to normal at Newcastle, we are getting a better idea of when some of our players with long-term injuries will be returning to the fold.

One of the players whose timescale seems to be shifting and uncertain is Andy Carroll’s.

Steve Bruce said earlier in the week that he had hoped to have Andy Carroll go through a couple of weeks of full-training with the team before being called upon to make his return to action for Newcastle.

Last month it had been suggested that the trip to Anfield on Saturday was the target date for the return of big Andy.

Last night, the Daily Mail had reported that it was highly unlikely that Carroll would be ready to make the trip to Anfield this weekend. That assessment was in line with what Bruce had intimated about Andy needing two weeks of training before being under consideration for his return.

Carroll’s timescale is dependent on him returning to training. Well, Steve Bruce has spoken to the Chronicle and it looks like Andy has trained with the lads today. This is what Steve Bruce has said about the 30-year-old:

“Andy, we’ll have to still be patient. However, for the first time today, he joined in with the group to a degree. He only took part in half of the session, non-contact, but it’s good to see him out kicking a ball again.

“I always knew that it would be towards the end of this month and halfway through the next month really.”

That is excellent news that and another step in his recovery from April ankle surgery. We still think that Bruce should be ultra-cautious with the big man and it looks like he is going to be. We would be fine with Andy not returning until next month. The most important thing is that when he returns, he remains fit.

Rotunda its hardly surprising I think u are daft if u repeatedly ignore what I say and come up with stuff I dont. So try stick to facts will you?

    1. I never particularly wanted Bruce
    2. Rafa is better than Bruce
    3. I didnt praise his long runs
    4. I dont mind if he uses them unless they injure players. Jonjo said he felt good in training

What I am doing is hoping bruce makes a success of it. So far I aint jumping for joy but still hopeful. Finally can u produce evidence that bruce is long ball ( u didnt mind under rafa) and has worse injury stats than other managers. You may be correct but evidence not conjecture wud help

Munster used to moan that he thought Rafa was past his best and not adapted to the modern game, now he is championing one of the biggest losers the PL has ever seen, you could not make that up.

Just keep lying Jail, people see throught it. Im not championing bruce. Where is your evidence for that statement? Im hopeful. I know you want him to flop, and at that point u need to ask yourself if you actually love nufc, or just hate Ashley. He was appointed by the fools that run our club and you and others are bashing him given every chance. Thats not the sign of a fan who wants wins.

Jail on your continued and utter myopic stupidity, you slagged me off for buying a €10 River Plate shirt because its red and white ( not stripes) . Remarkable. Yet you are gagging for Bruce to mess up to prove yourself correct about him. So nufc suffers. So which of those behaviours is most aligned to a typical Sunderland supporter? One who wears an Argentinian club jersey or one who wants Bruce to fail.

    Munster,
If Bruce could get us eighth with a cup run I would be delighted, but he won’t and I’d like to see him sacked and a proper manager brought in, not a head coach who will do Churnleys bidding.

So Carroll was going to be back early sept / mid sept / end sept and now mid october … I’d be surprised to see him before mid November at this rate if not later … Those who had him as top scorer and toon saviour may need to revise their thoughts

On the use of the word would in that tense. It’s a bad habit of mine. I’ve updated the Almiron article. I’ll try to be more mindful of doing that going forward.

If hes back full training with the team it surely means hes fit enough to play 10-15min as a sub. I wonder would he possibly throw him on the bench for Pool.

Big risk though, as there would be uproar from the fans if he got injured again. But I have this feeling hes gonna put him on the bench this weekend, despite all logic telling me otherwise.

If he thinks you’re a twat we’re similar.

If you continue to make STUPID UNINFORMED statements people will call you out.

You’re such a great and passionate Nufc fan it took a chance meeting with some Geordies on holiday to get your 12 yr old son to wear his toon top.

Do us all a favour and stop telling people what a great fan you are and what they should be doing to support the club.
