Bruce Facing “Conundrum” On Player Who Is Not Yet “Up To Speed”

We’ve seen precious little of our exciting new forward Allan Saint-Maximin since his arrival. He was given his debut in the first match against Arsenal, but during the week leading to the Norwich City game, he suffered a minor hamstring injury making him unavailable

He came back the following weekend at Tottenham but last only 15 minutes before having to be replaced by Christian Atsu. The prognosis after that was that he would be out for up to five weeks.

We are currently around two weeks into that five-week projection, and Steve Bruce has given an update of the Frenchman after Tuesday’s training session.

The Chronicle have published Bruce’s update on the status of Saint-Maximin.

“Of course, Saint-Maximin is now doing his rehabilitation work. He’s out on the grass.

“I think we have got to build his fitness levels before we treat his hamstring, so there is a bit of a conundrum with him at the moment because he hasn’t really done any pre-season.

“Because of the knockbacks he’s had and the injuries, we haven’t been able to get him up to speed to the level I think he requires.”

So it looks like Allan’s rehabilitation could take us into next month when both Andy Carroll and Matt Ritchie could make there returns as well.

It may be best to wait until after the next international break for the Frenchman. There are four fixtures scheduled until the next break concluding with Manchester United at St James Park on October 6th.

After the break will be Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on the 19th of October. That might be the next time we get to see the Allan Saint-Maximin.

Why we signed a guy who has done NO pre-season, and has shown he is clearly unfit IS BEYOND ME!!!

This guy’s injury was made worse by Steve Bruce, when he was named in the starting 11 against spurs. Bruce knew he was half injured. This is something Benitez would never have done.

Makes things worse when u consider Astu came on for him and was in contention for man of the match.

Maximin, Ritchie and Carroll fit for the end of the year, that will be our transfer activity for the January window then!
