Bruce Wants One Or Two Signings To Add To Nucleus

Steve Bruce has confirmed that there will be money available in January if needed. He did not mention any amounts, but it looks like the club can bring in a quality player or two if need be.

This is what Steve Bruce has said in the Shields Gazette when asked about a January transfer kitty:

“Yeah, there’s a little bit.

“I think the really good thing now is to concentrate on the 25 we have got, and get the best out of them, so you put that away. It always is ‘how can we improve?’. I think that’s the key.

“You see the difference in an Almiron or a Joelinton. That little bit of extra quality which comes in is hopefully what we’re looking for now.

“We’ve got a nucleus of a very good squad. Rather than five or six, maybe it’s important to go for one or two. I think that’s the way forward. We’ve got good players here.

If we can just keep adding to the quality of them, then I think that’s the way forward.”

This winter we would like to see Newcastle make some moves to strengthen the squad. However, a lot of that will depend on where they are in the table. It will also depend on how the team is coping in terms of injuries.

Steve Bruce– wants to add quality not quantity in future windows

One player that could be high on the list is Hull City’s Jarrod Bowen. With his contract running out next summer, Hull could be forced to lower their £20m asking price for the 22-year-old.

However, for Newcastle to bring anyone in, they will have to make room for them in the squad. The club have not been very successful recently in offloading fringe players as they currently have three on the books that are outside the 25 man squad.

Newcastle does have a solid nucleus as Bruce attests. However, they need to get them tied down to new deals. Players like Isaac Hayden and Fabian Schar only have two years remaining on their contracts.

Next summer could also be one of transition for this squad with so many players who could leave or will have only one year remaining on their deals. Many of those should be replaced by players of higher quality.

What Will Be The Result Of Saturday's Match At Liverpool?

  • Loss (71%, 720 )
  • Win (16%, 166 )
  • Draw (13%, 134 )

WT Actual F is that interview about from the Fat Slug?! It’s unbelievable some of the bile he spews in a desperate attempt to defend his disgusting actions – I haven’t seen the full interview, does the journalist in question challenge anything he says?

Also, is it me or at the start he is looking right down the lens of the camera, as if he’s addressing the audience rather than the journalist? This is borderline psychotic. The only silver lining is he’s clearly feeling the pressure.

Ha ha, if needed, so basically if we’re in the clarts money will be spent. If we’re not another season has been winged and we’ll see who is sold in the summer before deciding where we need to improve. I think Brewcey is going to be the biggest patsy of them all because he’s “one of us”

Would be great if Bruce got a few quid out of him and spent 50 or 60 mill on two or three quality young players that would increase in value. Ie tempting ashley to invest the longer we are in the prem ( talk about lowered ambition! 🙁 …) . Unlikely but even allowing for losing perez there was no way I thought he wud spend so much on joelinton. Always good to have hope even if its blind.

It would also be great if Ashley got a proper manager in to spend fictitious 50 or 60M quid on said players.

Ashley also said you get what it says on the tin bollocks , remember when he said ‘EVERY PENNY ” …

i thought his hand movements were more pointing, a couple of times you could see he was about to blow up think the pressure is getting to him over his beloved S/D …

    geordietom,
They couldn’t wait to see the back of our former manager so there’s be no obstacle to selling Perez and buying Joelinton, apart from his free advertising and 50M a year pocket money, horse trading and relegation battles are Ashley’s favourite part of owning a football club.

    geordietom,
I don’t remember that wild hand waving from previous interviews, he’s either been studying Adolf Hitler’s raleigh’s or he’s been to a body language coach.

Jail assuming there’s no sarcasm in that. I had wanted them to find a decent coach abroad who is used to being a coach and used to the recruitment model we have but Charnley couldnt see beyond Tufty the last time and Bruce this time. To be fair I prefer Bruce ( there again I hated Schteve in a big way ) but all we can do is hope.
