Star Man In Surprise Win At Spurs Dares To Suggest The Same At Anfield

Paul Dummett put in a Man of the Match performance against Tottenham a few weeks ago. It was a surprise victory that helped shift the mood at the club into a somewhat more optimistic direction. It was Newcastle’s first points of the campaign and helped raise the hopes of some supporters.

The team were able to follow up that shock result with two admirable displays. Though the results on these two occasions, at home against Leicester and Watford, were both on the disappointing side.

Paul Dummett has given an interview in the Chronicle in which he suggests that the team are confident of a result at the league leaders:

“These are the type of games you look forward to and you are up against the best players in the world. We went to Tottenham and got a positive result and three points. There is no reason why we can’t go there and do the same against Liverpool.

“If we stick to the game plan there is no reason why we can’t do that. Did anybody expect us to beat Spurs? Nobody expected us to go there and get three points. But we had done it before.

“It was confident performance and we showed all that we could go there and get a result. It was probably my first man of the match on a TV game! The team did well though. My performance wasn’t the only one that was good on the day.

“Even against Watford and Leicester we have got positive results over the 90 minutes.”

Newcastle have in the past often put in towering performances against the top sides. They also have put in some woeful ones against the teams they should be beating. This season under a new head coach has been no different as they followed the cremation at Norwich with a triumph at Tottenham.

So Paul does have a point when he talks about looking forward to playing against world-class players. It will take a performance every bit as good as at Tottenham to get something from this one. The lads will have to put in a near-perfect display and hope to catch the European Champions on a rare off day.

What Will Be The Result Of Saturday's Match At Liverpool?

  • Loss (71%, 720 )
  • Win (16%, 166 )
  • Draw (13%, 134 )

Nufc…… I’m not talking about a single injury before he took over. I’m talking about all these little injuries that are happening everyone lately, and I’m talking about how he seems to be slowing down the recovery of the players, who while werent injured under his tenure, most were expected back weeks ago notice he says players due back at such a time then a few weeks later he puts them back again by another 4-5 weeks. Rinse and repeat! Every due date is constantly being pushed back. This is because whatever he has them doing is slowing their recoveries.

Add to this I haven’t seen this many players drop all at once so fast once under Rafas tenure in 3 years. And when they did get injured they were always healing and recovering super fast.

So yes you can 100% blame one or more of the coaching or medical staff for these problems. Hes the boss, if he or someone else isn’t doing their job to a required standard then he needs to sort it out.

Mike Ashley is appearing in Vegas with a magic act, the owners of Caesars saw what he did with a whole company BZG Group and still they are bewildered how he managed to get a whole company to disappear without trace as soon as the season started. David Copperfield and Chris Angel cannot wait for this magic man to appear.

Dummett was outstanding against Spuds, thou shall not pass.

For me 2nd name on the team sheet after Dubs.

Totally solid defender, gives it all every game, epitome of a professional and team player.

The injuries sustained during Bruce’s time are very difficult to suggest it’s his fault e.g Richie. Someone posted the list and after a little debate most people aligned that it wasn’t his fault as it was clear as day they could not be linked. If we keep sustaining injuries like Longstaff then the questions can be asked but at the moment it’s not down to him and his staff.

I’m not suggesting they are hud fault I said HE SEEMS TO BE SLOWING DOWN THEIR RECOVERY. Do you not understand PART of what keeps players injury free is the coaches ability to do the right warm ups do the right training for the right players in the right situations.

Do you not get that if a player is rehabing wrong or warming up wrong or doing certain types of training that might not suit the situation, that all these things do and have lead to injuries.

Especially small injuries and slow recoveries just like were experiencing all of a sudden the past 2 months, all while magically under Bruce, and not under Rafa.
