We did a report on PSV forward Donyell Malen in July as a suggested target for Newcastle United during the summer.
The former Arsenal product was also mentioned as a possible winter target by the Chronicle this past week.
The 20-year-old made his international debut in the 2020 Euro Qualifier against Germany on September 6th. The Netherlands won the match 4-2 and Malen got one of the goals in his debut. He also got his second cap a few days later in the Netherlands 0-4 win at Estonia.
On Saturday, Malen took his international momentum into PSV’s Eredivisie match against Vitesse. The young striker put in a dominant display as he scored five goals in PSV’s 5-0 win.

Donyell Malen is an Arsenal Academy product who turned down a contract extension with Arsenal two summers ago.
Despite being a valued youngster, Arsenal couldn’t convince Malen to resign with them. He opted instead to join PSV in his native Netherlands. Last season he was able to break into their first-team primarily as a left-winger scoring 11 goals.
This season he was given the number 9 shirt which was vacated by former Magpie Luuk De Jong, who joined Sevilla in the summer.
Malen just signed a new deal with PSV on August 6th which extended his contract until 2024. He had just one year remaining on his old deal. We are unsure of PSV’s valuation of Malen, but he is definitely a player to watch out for.
