Who Did Our Readers Vote As The Top Magpie At Liverpool?

The results are in and goal scorer Jetro Willems has been voted as the best player in our reader’s poll. Jetro claimed 280 of the 999 total votes for 28%. It was neck and neck for a little while between Jetro and local lad Paul Dummett. However, Jetro pulled away in the end and has been voted as the outstanding performer.

Paul Dummett did get a respectable 22% of the vote in the end while Mr. Consistency Isaac Hayden came in third with 11%.

All three of the players put in solid performances but it was that goal in the 8th minute that likely pushed Willems into victory. What a goal it was with his weaker foot no less.

Jetro has done outstanding since coming into the side for Matt Ritchie. While he did tire a bit in the end, he was involved all afternoon and should continue to improve. This what Steve Bruce said about the Dutchman and his goal after the game:

“Jetro will remember it. I’m delighted for him. The more he works and more he plays with intensity the better.”

Who Was Newcastle's Best Player In Defeat At Liverpool?

    losses!
    ?

Anyway, its a marathon and the starters gun’s only just fired. That finishing line is a long way off.

a marathon is one way of describing 38 games …however thanks to Ashley we aren’t up there at the gun …we are out the back and dressed in some crazy T. rex suit or an oversized bottle of cinzano suit
We will hopefully limp the last stretch come May with hilarious cramp and end up in foil with the St. John’s ambulance

There’s something becoming more prevalent in football and it needs red carding before somebody is literally killed.
When an attacker is in midair and the defender, with no intention of getting the ball, backs under him, the player going for the ball is invariably going to come down head first. It’s a potential neck breaker and it’s cowardly and deliberate. No place for it rugby, let alone football.

Should Anwar el Ghazi have been sent off for clashing with team-mate Tyrone Mings?

I saw the reaction from Dean Smith and John Terry and they didn’t look happy. I like the fact Tyrone Mings has pulled him up saying ‘why aren’t you defending?’

To do that and clash with your team-mate, it wouldn’t surprise me if he did get the drag [replaced at half-time].

I think it could be a boxing match in there [the dressing room]. (BBC)

Grealish pulling the strings for Villa tonight. They did well to hang on to him or they would be lacking big time in the creativity dept.

Here’s a stat, in the season 2015-16 Toon, Norwich and Villa were relegated. No other relegated team since then has made it back to the PL.

Among the failing teams ? Sunderland, West Brom, Borough, Hull, Swansea, Stoke.

..and it doesn’t look like Cardiff, Huddersfield or Fulham will make it back this year either, Swansea might though. Early days obviously.
