How Have Some Of Our Summer Targets Who Stayed At Their Clubs Fared So Far?

Jarrod Bowen – Winger/Hull City

  • Bowen is most likely our top target this winter. The 22-year-old has again proven to be a goal-scoring threat this season. He has scored 5 goals in 8 appearances for the Championship club.

Thiago Maia – Midfielder/Lille

  • Maia turned down all moves away from Lille this summer due to wanting to play Champions League football this season. The 22-year-old Brazilian has played just 44 minutes in his two appearances in Ligue 1.

Yousseff Sabaly – Right-back/Bordeaux

  • The Senegalese international is out of action with a knee injury.  He reportedly failed a medical at Napoli in 2018 due to a knee problem that forced him to miss the beginning of that season as well.  He has had surgery on his left knee and the 26-year-old could be out for a couple of months.

Jean-Philippe Mateta – Striker/Mainz

  • The 22-year-old Frenchman suffered a serious knee injury in preseason and is likely out of action for a few more months.

Moussa Sissako – Central Defender/PSG Reserves

  • There were reports that Newcastle were close to signing the 18-year-old defender.  However, he has remained in Paris where he has played 4 times for their U19s.

Facundo Colidio – Striker/Sint-Truiden (loan)

  • The 19-year-old U20 Argentina international is a youth prospect at Inter Milan.  He is currently on loan to Belgian club Sint-Truiden where he has only featured in their Reserves so far.

Remi Oudin – Forward/Reims

  • The 22-year-old Frenchman almost sealed a transfer to Fiorentina until the Serie A club pulled the plug on the deal in the final hours of the transfer window. He has played 5 times for Reims this season with 1 goal.

Jayden Bogle – Right-back/Derby

  • The 19-year-old has featured only twice for Derby due to an ankle injury in the second game of the season against Swansea.  He should return to action soon.

The apparent insistence by coaches that goalkeepers play out from defence by passing or rolling the ball to a defender has been the cause of a number of goals already this season.
Opposing forwards are alert to the fact that the goalie will do this, and as the defender is facing the goal to collect the pass, the nippy forward is coming up behind him and stealing the ball.
The latest example of this tactic was seen when Arsenal conceded against Watford.
It is a goal unnecessarily given away, and we are in no position to give away goals.
I must admit that I am a lot happier to see our goalie give it a good boot down the field.

Wonder how many of them were serious targets?

The problem with that is that it comes pinging straight back at us via proper passing.

Jail, agreed too little too late, but it does look good at least for now. The sensible things would be to make it wipeable, but I bet they haven’t done.

Was it OP pointed out when they were painting the black wall that they hadn’t blasted the original surface, so the paint will crumble off within a couple of years?

Anyway, when is a blog not a blog?

    When it’s The Mag.

    I’ll get me coat.

Of those named above , only Jarrod Bowen has PL experience (7 games – no goals)
We have enough players finding their feet in the EPL
What will be needed in January will be players ready to hit the ground running

works for city and the best teams. You shouldn’t really be playing in the PL if you can’t technically play the ball out whereas the big hoof and playing the percentages 99 out of 100 times comes straight back.

Bruce fans are suggesting we will be in trouble, with the best squad he’s ever had. Hmmm……

    Bills son

You reckon Rafa would still have lost Perez due to the release clause?

Don’t you think that if Rafa had stayed it’d have been because he’d extracted acceptable commitments from Ashley and that they in turn would have convinced Rafa that Ashley had seen the light and decided to invest in the club to take it to greater heights? If Rafa had stayed under those conditions, I suspect that Rondon would’ve been signed and Perez might’ve been happy to stay.

However, it’s hypothetical and Perez went because Rafa went.

So they’ve painted a wall without treating it beforehand? Why spend money on something that can’t be seen? Yup, that figures given Ashley’s short-term view on spending. Save a bit but pay the price later.
