Atsu, Manquillo, And Shelvey Start Against Brighton – Carroll And Saint-Maximin On Bench

This is the side that Steve Bruce has just announced for the match today. It features just one change from Liverpool with Javier Manquillo coming in at right-back for Emil Krafth.

The bench is much stronger in attacking options as Andy Carroll and Allan Saint-Maximin make the match-day squad. It looks like the formation will be a 5-4-1 or 3-4-3. Jonjo Shelvey also gets a second straight start for the injured Sean Longstaff. This game should suit him much better than away to Liverpool.

Depending on how the game unfolds, we could see the return of Andy Carroll in the black and white stripes. What a moment that will be for the local lad. Also we could get to see new signing Allan Saint-Maximin who has only featured for 40 minutes this season due to his hamstring injury.

This is the team that Brighton will send out to face the lads.

This is massive for the lads. It has the potential to be a scriptwriters dream if Andy comes on and finds the back of the net.

Howay The Lads!

Just got parked up. Sunlun, playing -10 points and a team cobbled together from teenagers Bolton, are losing 1-0. Can they fluke another 1-1 draw, or be embarrassed? The latter hopefully! 😀
Right, into the wheelchair and zoom up the road the SJP. HOWAY THE TOON!!!!

This side should be able to beat Brighton. Let’s hope it doesn’t take an away goal to kick start the performance.

    Good change bringing in Manquillo.

Almiron has to show something this evening and look more dangerous. If true that Dan Burn is at LB he is really slow and Almiron should have plenty of joy.

Love to see Carroll officially on the bench!

And we’ve not started particularly well.

Look very disjointed and off the pace so far. They’re pressing better and keeping it better. Hopefully we get going sharpish.

We look so unsure as to whether we should press or not and when we get it we’re similarly unsure and lacking a discernible plan.

Need to up the energy levels and get into them. We’ve conceded the ground and dropped back from the start as if we’re the away team.
