Report – Newcastle Hold Scouting Summit With French 19-Year-Old High On The List

It has been widely reported that Steve Bruce will have funds available this winter if he feels additions are necessary to improve the squad. A lot of the decisions on transfers will depend on the predicament facing the club at the time the window opens. League position, injuries, and target availability will determine the type of business Newcastle do in January.

The Chronicle are reporting that Steve Bruce has recently held a scouting summit with Newcastle’s recruitment team as they prepare for the coming winter window.

The report states that the club may look to add one or two quality players but only if they can get them at the right price. They won’t overhaul the team this winter but will instead look to supplement the existing squad.

The exclusive report also says that special attention will be paid to players in the 17-21 year-old range. European scout Paul Baker has been on extensive scouting missions for youth players in advance of the transfer window.

One player that was specifically mentioned is Marseille center-back Boubacar Kamara. The 19-year-old is already a first-team player for the Ligue 1 side. He has 57 appearances for his hometown club and made his first French U-21 appearance earlier this month.

Boubacar Kamara – 19-year-old has piqued Newcastle’s interest

While Marseille use Kamara primarily as a center-back, the player’s future more likely lies in defensive midfield or left-back. His timing in the challenge is uncanny and he could be a force as a ball-winning midfielder. He can also pick a pass once winning possession.

His recovery speed is excellent and has also played at left-back a few times for Marseille. The issue with the player as a central defender is that he is only 6 feet tall. This is on the short side in today’s day and age for a premier center-back. He is also not a very physical defender relying more on guile and timing in his challenges.

Kamara is reportedly valued at £16m by Marseille and has just signed a contract extension to 2022 last month. Everton is also reportedly tracking the youngster.

Do you think Mikey would spend 12M+ bonuses hiring those managers?

Why a centre half? Got plenty quality there, our midfield needs improving while Longstaff is out, so shows cover maybe not quite good enough and also need another forward not centre back

Right! I’ve seen almost every PL team this weekend.
Without a shadow of a doubt we are by far the worst team in the league!

SB, maybe forget about the winter, have a feeling you will not be here.

Here’s another idea, try and figure out the team you have already.

Jail, I didn’t think he would pay 6 Mill a year and get Rafa. But that changed, so the question wasn’t about me and do I think, it was about how do you know 100% it couldn’t happen, stop deflecting answer the question.

It looks like mike’s engine room has managed to turn the ship around from the disaster of the last three seasons when the dastardly dinky-digit Spaniards attention to detail in defence was starting to infect our midfield so that we were becoming …shhh…

    ….effective…..

in midfield. Great News! The Ashley plan has kicked back in and now we have an effeminate mid section so ladylike it’s got a jewelled bellybutton :). Yep we are back to being totally overrun in the middle of the park it’s like a coconut shy at our back line again. Pathetic really. It’s as if nobody could see it coming. 🙁

A few posters have been going to town on the players themselves and that’s not really fair. Let’s recall the defeats of our expensively assembled championship side when they were in the premier League were ascribed to one man only, the manager, by a few critics here. So how can we blame what is largely the same team for their recent run of bad form? Let’s be fair, it’s obviously true what benitez said about knowing he would never be able to continue with the lack of trust relationship, it was true that he was not going to be backed with his own recommendations. He knew the ambition promises were lies.

Ashley’s purchasing department is a book-based accounting model, ins and outs. Almiron hasn’t “been sussed” he is a very good player. Our new signings are very good players. The core of benitezs team is still here, the ones that turned over big teams at the end of last season and who actually started to gel as a unit, still largely here.

Good players, all thrown together, ill matched, wedged in with unfamiliar playing styles and compatriots who don’t really “get” each others game. Oh yeah and the fat mackem adoptee running it cluelessly there’s the kick in the clangers right there.

You can’t blame the manager. What Geordie wouldn’t want to manage Newcastle near the end of his career!
Fatman is a curse and we’ve got to get him out of our club !
We will disappear like Blackburn and Bolton!
C’mon let’s get fatso out, now!

A couple of observations of the game. That looked like a lot of empty seats. Getting the message yet Mikey? The first half was extremely poor. Players too passive. I think Jetro looked a bit lost defensively. Brighton broke down the right wing repeatedly and he was not there at all. When playing a back three the wingbacks must check back and defend. Against a better offensive team we would have lost based on the first half alone. The second half, especially after the subs we looked a little better but not enough quality attempts on goal. I’d say we have about a 50% chance of being relegated if Bruce is around for the whole season.

I have a feeling your fantasies of Fats being pelted by tomatoes as he walks south towards Sunderland aint gonna happen, sadly. Can u give us any cause for optimism?

After watching the Toon for over 50 years I can safely say that display yesterday was relegation zone football.

When Brucie was about to be appointed there were tales going around that “Brucie didn’t do tactics”.

Brushed it off at the time as a load of bull, but I am now having my doubts – Willems first game debacle, now from yesterdays match commentators/pundits making references to the players not appearing to know where they should be playing and Haydens apparent comments to Brucie yesterday about the system not working.

It’s hard to judge joelinton when he’s feeding on scraps and the whole team look like they have no idea what the tactics are on the pitch.

But Haller looks like twice the player Joe is. His hold up play against Manchester was very good.

Mourinho was possible sometime down the track had Ashley backed Rafa in the here and now. As things are, cinder in snow’s chance. We’ll be unable to replace Bruce with better is far nearer the truth, if results do end up dictating he needs to go. More realistic than upgrading the manager then, is hoping St Max and Carroll can stay fit, and moving on Shelvey, Gayle and even I think Yedlin in the winter window, all sellable, and bringing in a quality central mid and winger, but I doubt even that’ll happen either.

Toon 22, don’t we all dream and have a scenario for the Black and White to be Ashley free and capable of taking on the big boys?

Don’t you dream about the club being something the fans can be proud of, well, I do.

I want us to be the team where teams know its not the same old Newcastle, it’s a Newcastle that can kick your ass.

Off course without the two dip shits that are trying to run the club.
