French Connection And Geordie Midfielder Spotted At Today’s Training Session

It was just last week when Florian Lejeune tweeted the following about a return to training for him and Allan Saint-Maximin.

Today the club has released images of today’s training session. Florian Lejeune is involved with the team for the first time since suffering his second knee injury. Allan Saint-Maximin who was reportedly waiting on a fitness assessment was also spotted with the group.

This was part of the statement that was published on the official club website along with the images from today:

And in Wednesday’s training session, they were boosted by the sight of returning defender Florian Lejeune joining in with the group as he continues to work his way back to full fitness following a second serious knee injury.

Winger Allan Saint-Maximin also trained, while forward Andy Carroll – who made his second Magpies debut as a substitute in Saturday’s stalemate with the Seagulls – was in action as Bruce’s men prepared for the trip to the high-flying Foxes, who currently sit third in table.

It looks like Saint-Maximin will be fit for the trip to Leicester City on Sunday. We are a little disappointed to not see Matt Ritchie as we had some hope that he could make if back in time to face the Foxes.

However, we did see Sean Longstaff in a couple of the photographs so the reports of him being fit for this weekend could be accurate. Jonjo Shelvey, interestingly, was not seen in any of the images. It was reported yesterday that Jonjo was having mobility issues with the thigh that he injured last year. We haven’t heard anything from the club on his status yet.

Shelvey missing out and possibly Ki coming in will be a bonus for the team, I think. Fingers crossed!

surely if we’re allowed to show our approval of a bloggers post it would be only right and proper to least be able show one’s disapproval in the same manner, a simple thumps up/down would be a far fairer option,

Jib, instead of discussing the strategy and tactics of the 3rd Reich, I wonder if you could please let me know what the preferred tactics of Mr S Bruce Esq are?

It appears that nobody else can fathom them, least of all himself.

Obviously, strategy is set by the club, not the 1st team coach, and appear to be to avoid any and all success in the cups and scrape Premier League survival every season.

hibbit, thanks for sharing the Chronicle article, which is a very good read. Were you aware that it was written by the much-maligned (on here at least) Dubai-based Neil Mitchell, aka @geordiedentist and former Chair of the NUST?

I’m surprised at you joining the sheep
Bruce has been coaching the team since July 17th (thrown in against Wolves in China)
In that team he had (picked by Redfearn)
A dozen games later you expect him to have it running like a well oiled machine ?

Interesting article, I didn’t realise who it was by until the end, knew it wasn’t one of the usual suspects.

Some very good points, whatever happened to the 2nd bidder who was “extremely unhappy” when BZG released their statement?

What’s going on or not going on with both, dead in the water?

I’m not looking for more rumours fake sales etc however it would be nice if BZG just came out and said “we’re out”

Ashley moving the goal posts and trying to renegotiate is a given, more more more.

Looks like we’re stuck in that arranged marriage to a ugly gold digger for a while yet.

Jib, a well oiled machine is maybe too much to ask for at this point.

Something resembling a machine would be a good start.

Hibbit, I’ve always appreciated Mitch’s input and I agree it’s a good article. It seems like many of us he got a bit carried away this summer. I doubt he will again.

That’s why I can’t help but laugh when people say the fans should communicate with the club to move foward.

The fans forum happens as regularly as Ashley’s visits, obviously not at the same time.
