It was just last week when Florian Lejeune tweeted the following about a return to training for him and Allan Saint-Maximin.

Today the club has released images of today’s training session. Florian Lejeune is involved with the team for the first time since suffering his second knee injury. Allan Saint-Maximin who was reportedly waiting on a fitness assessment was also spotted with the group.

This was part of the statement that was published on the official club website along with the images from today:
And in Wednesday’s training session, they were boosted by the sight of returning defender Florian Lejeune joining in with the group as he continues to work his way back to full fitness following a second serious knee injury.
Winger Allan Saint-Maximin also trained, while forward Andy Carroll – who made his second Magpies debut as a substitute in Saturday’s stalemate with the Seagulls – was in action as Bruce’s men prepared for the trip to the high-flying Foxes, who currently sit third in table.
It looks like Saint-Maximin will be fit for the trip to Leicester City on Sunday. We are a little disappointed to not see Matt Ritchie as we had some hope that he could make if back in time to face the Foxes.
However, we did see Sean Longstaff in a couple of the photographs so the reports of him being fit for this weekend could be accurate. Jonjo Shelvey, interestingly, was not seen in any of the images. It was reported yesterday that Jonjo was having mobility issues with the thigh that he injured last year. We haven’t heard anything from the club on his status yet.
