Report – Bruce Considering Radical Changes For Leicester City

When Allan Saint-Maximin came on for Miguel Almiron late against Brighton, the team carried much more of a threat. Almiron had a quiet game, and while he still worked hard, was unable to create many chances or take the couple that came his way.

One issue that might be plaguing the 25-year-old is with his confidence. Saint-Maximin was full of vigor when he came on while Almiron did not have the same level of swagger as the Frenchman.

There is a report in Daily Star that says Bruce is considering dropping Miguel Almiron to the bench for the trip to Leicester City.

However, it will likely depend on the availability of Allan Saint-Maximin, who is facing a fitness test this week. There are limited options to replace Almiron if Saint-Maximin can’t make the trip.

That is unless Steve Bruce completely revamps his team which is something the Daily Star hints at.

The report mentions that there may be wholesale changes in the side that faces the Foxes. Bruce may opt to push Fabian Schar into a midfield anchor role and draft Federico Fernandez into the team.

Bruce tried something different against Brighton, but it completely backfired. A whole week of work on the training pitch had to be trashed after about 20 minutes.

If these reports are accurate, Bruce may be open to trying something new at Leicester as well. While a lot will depend on who he has available, Bruce needs to figure out a way to get this team to click.

The return of Sean Longstaff should help. The Daily Star is also reporting that he should be back for Sunday. We hope we’ll get a positive update on Matt Ritchie for Sunday as well.

Both Sean and Matt have been sorely missed over the past few weeks. Having them back in the squad should help shore up some of the issues we saw last weekend.

Martoon I had a similar opinion of the situation regarding Bruce when he first arrived. The issue is I have seen a total shambles on the pitch in most of the games with players out of position and people scratching their heads on the pitch. As a premier league manager that’s just not acceptable and I am at the point in which I now feel he needs to go ASAP- that’s coming from someone who tries to be positive and balanced!!!

Just been sent a text saying that Andy Carroll is out until Early 2020. Have the club mentioned anything?

looks like maddison will miss sundays match…

Longstaff might make sundays match …

if Maximin aint fit for sunday super steve’s plans go up in smoke …

Schar in midfield give him a go cant be any worse than shelvey at the moment …

we need to get someone close to Joelinton asking him to play as the lone striker is not working if Maximin is fit i’d stick him along side Joelinton try and play a four four two see how it goes …

It would be hard to drop Atsu and Maximin for Almiron though so I understand the predicament. Plus, this is why competition for places is good for the team…

    ………………Dubravka………………

    .Manquillo..Lascelles..Fernandez….Willems.

    …………..Schar…Hayden…………….

    …Atsu………Longstaff……..Maximin….

    ……………Joelinton………………..

hibbit – I’m not trying to be the voice of reason just saying things as I see them. We’re all supposed to be supporters of nufc yes? Therefore to me it logically follows that we want the team to do well despite the the owner and the shortcomings of the manager!

    Do not panic Mr Mainwaring.
We have Schteeeeeve all over again.
There was not 40K in the ground against Brighton. That may increase against Manure but the trend is downwards. We will be bottom 3 by Xmas and I am confident that the crowd will be mid 30s by then tailing off to 30K by Mays relegation.
The fans know they are hurting the team by boycotting. The team played as if they did not care against Brighton. The players look around and think if the fans do not care then why should we? Exactly. And thats why we will be relegated.
As the crowds get smaller so will the players efforts. And of course there are no brains on the touchline to make amends.
The fans who boycott know that the team will probably get relegated but they stay away. Its for the long term good of the club and the town. They are looking years ahead not just thinking about survival, another 100 million to the owner and praying for 4th bottom and rinse and repeat.

    Interesting team selection.
I would imagine the FBs would be encouraged to get forward.
Schar and Hayden would be able to cover.
Would they drop deeper to essentially be in a centre half type position on occasions ?

Yeah, forward minded FBs also with Schar in the middle so he can also offer an attacking threat which is what this team needs. Conversely, it also offers solid defence too with Hayden/Schar combo. It’s a little more dynamic than with Shelby or even Ki. Though I do quite rate Ki.

The subs bench also looks threatening with Almiron and Carroll to come on.

Very surprised to read that Carroll might not play a game until after Xmas.
That would not come as any surprise to West Ham fans who have hardly seen him in 5 years.
I hope that Carroll is on a play per minute contract rather than the 50k a week nonsense. Otherwise he might be accused of taking the coin and depriving the squad of another player. Hardly the stuff of a local hero but I feel sure that Carroll would not be so mercenary and drop the club ion the clarts because he is unable to play.

There was less than 40 last week.
    It is called reality.
Its toy town stuff at the Toon.
Get rid of world class manger for Schteeve who is a proven failure.
Get rid of your two top strikers who got 80 percent of the goals and replace them with a guy for 40 million who has never scored more then 7 goals in a season. Rondon guarantees 15 goals and would have cost 16 million.
So we have one striker. No, we have two. Gayle who is a long term crock. (still only one then) So what do the key stone cops do? They bring in another striker who is also crocked and has barley played a game for 2 years. So we still have one striker with 7 goals in a season to his name.
A schoolboy sunday league manager would get the sack for that bollocks never mind aPrem League mnager.
Wake up and smell the coffee.
30k by seasons end . Nailed on. Its less than 40 now.
Support the team not the regime. Crackers man.

I would not mind seeing Almiron sit for a match – he’s not been effective thus far.

More gambling. Bruce has got a bad hand, and he’s bluffing. At least, that’s how it feels to me.

Hold on, didn’t Bruce say he realised after the first half against Brighton why we had been playing defensively with the players we have do he reverted to that ???
So now he’s going to push schar into midfield and go on the attack…. Does he actually know what he’s doing ?
Sounds like a man clutching at straws – not sure the players are going to be happy with this , Hayden & Shelvey have both told him his tactics aren’t working – would imagine more will join in during/after Leicester

Given that Steve Bruce knows McLaren very well, was warned by Shearer you could say he’s dealt his own hand, he can’t have any complaints at all this season.

If almiron drops out who plays instead? ASM needs to be eased back and not rushed back so bench role again in all honesty. Other option is playing muto out of position which I’d be against.

I’d continue with almiron. Perhaps play him on the left like last season. Have team pushed up a little so Atsu and almiron can get up to support the currently isolated Joelinton.

There was a moment in the Brighton game where Atsu and almiron switched and straight away almiron beat his man and pulled back a decent delivery. Instantly looking better and more comfortable. They switched back after like lol.

Again, Bruce walks away when he’s peddled with at least 3m, two fingers up, new villa in Portugal, no brainer for a championship manager, he’s a shocka, the lot of them, get out of the toon, DON’T GO TO THE MATCH.

I would persevere with Almiron, we need the pace.

Just sort the back four out then go with a midfield of Longstaff and Hayden in the middle, Atsu and Schar on the wings allowing Almiron to play just behind Joelinton to offer him more support. We then have the option to bring on Maximin and Carroll later on as they are both recovering from injury so shouldn’t be risked.

What will ‘Radical changes’ achieve? Nothing at all. We have no plan, style of play, understanding of roles, when to drop off, push up, support players. A cohesive tactical game plan is what’s needed. It goes to show how unbelievably out of his depth Bruce is.

Basically he’s saying ‘I’ll chuck other players in and hope it works’
