Longstaff, Krafth, And Muto All Start At Leicester City

This is team that Steve Bruce will send out to face Leicester City this afternoon.

It’s a surprise start for Yoshinori Muto who looks like he will partner Joelinton upfront. We are not too sure of the formation though it definitely looks like it will be a back four unless Bruce is using Christian Atsu as a left wing-back.

This could be a 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1 with Joelinton playing behind Muto, who scored in the Carabao Cup against the Foxes.

We expected Emil Krafth to be drafted back into the side. Sean Longstaff is also back after missing the last two games with his ankle injury.

Andy Carroll and Allan Saint-Maximin again start from the bench. The big surprise is that Jetro Willems has not made the match-day squad. We see that Javier Manquillo and DeAndre Yedlin are there. We hope Jetro has not sustained an injury.

Here is the team Brendan Rodgers has selected for Leicester City.

As expected, Dennis Praet comes in for the injured James Maddison. Former Magpie Ayoze Perez gets his second start against Newcastle since leaving this summer.

Let’s hope for a reaction similar to the one at Tottenham. We expect the lads to play much better today. The return of Sean Longstaff could make all the difference.

Howay The Lads!

I have to hand it to Bruce
I didnt think he had the courage to deviate from Rafa’s 352
Now, the question is can Schar play as a centre half in a flat back four?
He is very dodgy defensively when we play with three at the back
Would have preferred Fed as a lascelles’ partner

Nufc-83 – saw Praet play a few times for Sampdoria and I watched the highlights of Leicester’s game the other night when he played and he’s a talented player, I’m not denying that. I just think Maddison is better and we stand a slightly better chance of winning with Praet playing instead of Maddison, but not much. Sorry for the confusion

It could be Atsu at LWB,. With no Willems on the bench, the lineup would look like 4 at the back as there is no obvious natural LWB on the name sheet. From what I can recollect, Atsu has played LWB once before.

Scythe no confusion lol I was just interested in your opinion on him as not seen him play. I was made up to see Maddison out but let’s see how this kid plays (hopefully badly).

Shocked by this major change to the team and formation but excited to see how it goes. Cmoooon

Looking forward to seeing how Krafth does at right back in a flat back four without the need to get forward like he did playing wingback. I wasn’t impressed with his inability to block crosses in his first game, but we’ll see today. Always willing to give players a chance to prove me wrong and change my opinion of them. Also nice to see Muto start. He could do well today. Fingers crossed!

Krafth isnt good enough for the prem. looks lost every match he has played.

he went defensive at home vs brighton, yet seems to have gone offensive away at LCFC.

    hmmm, curious

Think Bruce is going for his 4-4-2 he used often at Sheff Wed.

Quite intrigued to see it. Maybe not trying to be too clever will suit Bruce.

Glad to see Muto starting. Hopefully with him right up alongside Joelinton that will help him too. Hoping for a high press, high energy performance.

Will it be another gme where our players look clueless, probably with the formation change, probably would of been better to stick to what we know seen as we our away against a good Leicester team..il savve judgement..but if we use this formation but have our usuaal possesion…it wont be good for us.im sure we played with 4 at the back against Norwich and we was woeful…huge holes

Im predicting a 3-0 defeat – Perez to get a least two and do the fingers in ears.

Cemented into the relegation zone by Xmas and a fire sale by FatAsh in Jan – against a dropping ‘sale’ (lol) price

All in all looking quite good!

I’d obviously prefer Manquillo to Krafth.

Give ASm and big Andy 60mins.

Hoping these changes also leave Leicester a bit off balance and unable to get a handle on us – a bit of confusion.

Flat back 4, ok, but I’d have been happier with Scharr, Lascelles, Fernandez, Dummett, which looks more solid.

Muto deserves a start and adds a bit more goal threat. Want more minutes out of Carroll and ASM from now on.

Dummett is only conventional left back we have. We have two right wing backs amongst the subs.

Team, bench and formation not entirely balanced. In that respect prefer 3 CB’s.

    …………………..Dubravka.
    Scharr…Lascelles…Fernandez…Dummett.
    ……………Hayden……Longstaff.
    St Max……………Muto…………..Joelinton.
    …………………..Carroll.

Looks decent for the last 30, if we are looking for an equalizer or winner.

Muto with a big opportunity today. If we pull off a result he could finally see himself getting a run of games. He’s definitely been patient waiting for it up front.

I’d like to see him use his energy and pace to stretch teams, giving space to the likes of almiron, joelinton and Atsu. Just needs to keep onside 😉
