Longstaff, Krafth, And Muto All Start At Leicester City

This is team that Steve Bruce will send out to face Leicester City this afternoon.

It’s a surprise start for Yoshinori Muto who looks like he will partner Joelinton upfront. We are not too sure of the formation though it definitely looks like it will be a back four unless Bruce is using Christian Atsu as a left wing-back.

This could be a 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1 with Joelinton playing behind Muto, who scored in the Carabao Cup against the Foxes.

We expected Emil Krafth to be drafted back into the side. Sean Longstaff is also back after missing the last two games with his ankle injury.

Andy Carroll and Allan Saint-Maximin again start from the bench. The big surprise is that Jetro Willems has not made the match-day squad. We see that Javier Manquillo and DeAndre Yedlin are there. We hope Jetro has not sustained an injury.

Here is the team Brendan Rodgers has selected for Leicester City.

As expected, Dennis Praet comes in for the injured James Maddison. Former Magpie Ayoze Perez gets his second start against Newcastle since leaving this summer.

Let’s hope for a reaction similar to the one at Tottenham. We expect the lads to play much better today. The return of Sean Longstaff could make all the difference.

Howay The Lads!

You would think after the last 15 minutes against Brighton that Bruce would want to carry that formula on. I just find it difficult to believe Bruce will go more attacking away from home against a Rodgers (passing) side.

    Munster,
Why haven’t you said ffs if Pardew or McLaren got this many injuries the fans would be all over them?

Hmm, very much good and bad with that line up. Not happy with the full backs at all- Dummett has been great at 3rd CB but I think he’s a very poor LB and Krafth…Well, let’s hope he’s improving.

Whether by injury or not I don’t think Shelvey deserves his place right now and it’s good to have Longstaff back. Very disappointed Maximin isn’t starting.

Looking at the team- full backs especially- I’m not exactly expecting free flowing, technical football from us!!

    AncientC,
It’s because with Ritchie and Willems out there’s no LWB, that’s what he’s just said in his two minutes on SKY. You nowww!

Genjikai, I hope so mate. He’s got everything except goals but I feel if he gets one the goals will come regularly. All about confidence in front of goal.

Dummet has been brilliant at centre back but I think he is the best proper left back at the club, players general can’t get past him when he plays there. Maybe not great going forward but he is a defender and one of the best at the club

My worry is leicester like to get their full backs forward so attacking midfielders move in. Could easily overrun our midfield, and with a back four could leave us a little exposed defensively.

However, race seems to be trying to get more support for Joelinton so can see the reason behind this line up.

Why aren’t the forwards pressing their backline when they’ve got the ball? Leicester just regained possession and all our forwards just walked back towards the halfway line. Bloody hell.

Carroll wouldn’t need much encouragement to come on and score the winner. Rodgers couldn’t get rid of him quickly enough at Liverpool.

Wonder if anyone will give Choudhury a sly kick if he comes on later? Little bit of retribution for his shocking challenge on Ritchie earlier this season.

That Torkish CB who was £4.5M on FF cost them 19M, apparently looks like money well spent now but last year there was serious doubts, can you imagine the shite Rafa would have got if he’d signed him.
