This is our predicted line-up for this afternoon’s match against Manchester United. It has four changes from the team that got lambasted 5-0 at the King Power Stadium last week.
We predicted Matty Longstaff, Allan Saint-Maximin, Jetro Willems, and DeAndre Yedlin to come in for Isaac Hayden, Miguel Almiron, Yoshinori Muto, and Emil Krafth. There was news last night that Ciaran Clark may come in for Paul Dummett.
The injury problems that have plagued the early season for Newcastle are clearing up. Allan Saint-Maximin and DeAndre Yedlin have a chance to make a significant impact in this game. Jonjo Shelvey and Dwight Gayle have chance to make their returns to the squad as well.
It’s not good reading for Manchester United as they will be without eight players for today’s match. They could also be forced to play with Ashley Young and Axel Tuanzebe as their full-backs. If so, this is something Newcastle should work to exploit with attacks down the flanks.
Newcastle Injuries
Florian Lejeune – knee, Matt Ritchie – ankle
Manchester United Injuries
Anthony Martial – thigh, Luke Shaw – hamstring, Paul Pogba – ankle, Aaron Wan-Bissaka – illness (tonsillitis), Jesse Lingard – hamstring, Phil Jones – undisclosed, Eric Bailly – knee, Timothy Fosu-Mensah – knee
In our poll for this match, the majority of voters see Newcastle getting nothing out of the game. Of the 1,749 votes, 59% picked Newcastle to lose this match. Just 25% have predicted a victory which would see Newcastle move out of the relegation zone. After yesterday’s results, Newcastle remain 19th in the table.
What Will Be The Result Against Manchester United On Sunday?
- Loss (59%, 1,040 )
- Win (25%, 437 )
- Draw (16%, 272 )
Total Voters: 1,749

Comment #2You see the overall revenue structure is very much the same as Everton but the costs are massively different due to the Everton ownership investing heavily into the club unlike the slug.

Comment #383 I did that yesterday:
According to this: https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/newcastle-united/transfers/verein/762 we’ve spent £62.37m net in the last 3 years. Bournemouth, ground capacity 11,329 (which also speaks to their commercial reach) have reportedly spent £112.64m net in same period.
They’re also doing this: https://www.constructionenquirer.com/2019/10/04/bournemouth-start-hunt-for-20m-training-ground-builders/
Commercial revenue in 2018 of £8m.
Their wage bill is £101m. How are we being outspent by them?
And before you say, they had a small profit overall in 2017 and similar sized loss in 2018. Ashley is taking the proverbial with our actual and potential revenue streams.

Comment #4Muto probably shouldn’t be near the the squad today. Gayle is a far more proven player.

Comment #5We are being outspent by them because they want to do the best they can , get as high up the league as they can and to try and win things for their customers , the slug on the over hand, wants to run the club on a shoestring, does not plan ahead and does not want to do anything to improve the facilities if there is any cost involved, he does not want the club to be successful as he don’t care about any of his customers, staff or anyone else for that matter.

Comment #6Trent. Bournemouth are predicting a bigger loss than the 11m last year this year. They are either going into debt to fund the investment of the team & stadium expansion or they have decent owners who are investing into the club.

Nufc-83…………….. As I said the club officially belongs to Ashley so he is legally entitled to manipulate the finances as he sees fit. The revenue generated by the club is being syphoned out into his other companies set up specifically for this purpose. Shirt sales, Matchday catering , cheap advertising for SD etc etc.
Our legitimate grievances are the fact that Ashley has leeched on to a club steeped in history and tradition with a massive loyal fanbase and changed it’s identity from a proud sporting institution into a tacky advertising hoarding and revenue stream for him. This is treating a region of people with utter disdain and contempt and although I believe in a free market society there has to be a line that isn’t crossed if it destroys a cities heritage.

Comment #10Maybe 83 but no real losses to date to arrive at the point quoted above on less gate and less commercial income. There is a rabbit off with our books. And beyond that the suppression/diversion of income funnelled off to SD means he is indirectly skimming.

Comment #11I think it will only be nice Ash has left will we find out where the money has been going….
The Sissiko, Wini and others who we sold and accepted the fee over a period of years, it all adds up but so many times we read ‘undisclosed fee ‘ so we never know.
Ash made his mouth go that he would open up the books to any accountant and would even pay for their fees ….Yeah right.
It is hard to support our team these days, dont even miss going to the matches lately.

Comment #14As has already been pointed out £40m supposedly paid for Joelinton hmmmmm. I would bet all I have that there is a move there with fat boy ducking and diving around what’s been declared and what’s actually been paid.
Any business that generates income like our club can be used for creative accounting and moving funds from a to b to c and then more than likely back to A . A being the one that ultimately benefits.
Ashley himself has declared that all businesses cheat , that’s what they do. He has also stated that any company with a good accountant can make the books read whatever they want them to read. These are Ashley’s own words. What more proof do we need that he’s skimming.

Comment #15Noticed Joelinton gets a bit of stick on here, he’s not a bad player, he tracks back, holds the ball well and lays it off, how can you judge a striker who gets no support?
Sickens me that on match days i feel nothing, Manure are playing crap right now and if we still had Benitez i’d fancy a win but not with Bruce.
Ashley has ripped the heart out of our club, killed my weekends, i’d plan my weekend around the Newcastle game but not now.
I expect a loss every week.
Ashley please do the right thing for once and p1ss off!!

When are you going to stop your childish countdown to kick off
Are you under 10
2 hours until E G B does another pathetic countdown 8 hours until nufc are beaten again
6 hours before we here the moronic boring chant off ASH get out of our club from the fans that kiss his arse anyway
30 minutes before some ass wipe comes on and states let’s get behind the lads they need our support even if they had a full house it wouldn’t make any difference to the result
7 months before nufc are relegated
Stick that in your school bag Essex

Comment #18He’s also stated the books are whiter than white so it’s hard to know what to believe. I have no doubt he is using us to benefit such as advertising, merch sales through SD etc but I don’t believe he is purely moving cash out of the club into his pockets which is what many people suggest.

Comment #19Despite my being wrong about the time Brucie spent at both Wigan and Hull, two stellar clubs, my point stands. What on earth was he going on about that you don’t get two or three years to turn it around, what could he possibly mean by this, is he expecting, if he relegates us to be given another chance to get us back up, or standby and watch him relegate us because you used to get two or three years to turn things round, when? The bloke talks out of his ar$e and it’s only going to get worse!!!

Comment #24I can sense a win on the cards, but given the state of both teams currently, the desperation surrounding us I wouldn’t be surprised at a draw. Seems to happen a lot when two managers are at the lose I you could be sacked stage.
If we get beat and don’t put up a fight in the process things will boil over in the stadium.
My team would be –
____________________Dubs______________________________
________Schar______Lascelles_______Dummett
Yedlin______________________________________Willems
______________Ki________Longstaff
___ASM____________________________Almiron
___________________Carroll
Natural width, pace and a ST who actually has instinct in the box, a desire to score and attack the ball who will also give a platform for us to get up the pitch and draw CBs in for Almiron/ASM to go beyond and break the line.
He should be good for an hour. Then Joelinton can come on after Andy has softened them up.

Comment #30Hail how can you make that judgement based on what we have seen and how the team has been set up? I have seen him working hard and I have seen him holding the ball up well. He has shown glimpses of real quality in the box. If the guy was missing chance after chance week after week then ok but that’s not the case. Give the lad a chance although I agree Carroll is the better option if fit. Bruce needs to sort the team out but I’m not sure if he is capable.

Comment #35At home against an opposition in disarray who can’t win away with an under fire manager talking down the aspirations of a once successful club.
Three points takes us above Everton which would be a bonus.
A win is Bruce’s only option.
