This is our predicted line-up for this afternoon’s match against Manchester United. It has four changes from the team that got lambasted 5-0 at the King Power Stadium last week.
We predicted Matty Longstaff, Allan Saint-Maximin, Jetro Willems, and DeAndre Yedlin to come in for Isaac Hayden, Miguel Almiron, Yoshinori Muto, and Emil Krafth. There was news last night that Ciaran Clark may come in for Paul Dummett.
The injury problems that have plagued the early season for Newcastle are clearing up. Allan Saint-Maximin and DeAndre Yedlin have a chance to make a significant impact in this game. Jonjo Shelvey and Dwight Gayle have chance to make their returns to the squad as well.
It’s not good reading for Manchester United as they will be without eight players for today’s match. They could also be forced to play with Ashley Young and Axel Tuanzebe as their full-backs. If so, this is something Newcastle should work to exploit with attacks down the flanks.
Newcastle Injuries
Florian Lejeune – knee, Matt Ritchie – ankle
Manchester United Injuries
Anthony Martial – thigh, Luke Shaw – hamstring, Paul Pogba – ankle, Aaron Wan-Bissaka – illness (tonsillitis), Jesse Lingard – hamstring, Phil Jones – undisclosed, Eric Bailly – knee, Timothy Fosu-Mensah – knee
In our poll for this match, the majority of voters see Newcastle getting nothing out of the game. Of the 1,749 votes, 59% picked Newcastle to lose this match. Just 25% have predicted a victory which would see Newcastle move out of the relegation zone. After yesterday’s results, Newcastle remain 19th in the table.
What Will Be The Result Against Manchester United On Sunday?
- Loss (59%, 1,040 )
- Win (25%, 437 )
- Draw (16%, 272 )
Total Voters: 1,749

Comment #82Certainly don’t believe I’m an expert but someone who has actually looked has more knowledge than someone who hasn’t obviously.

Comment #84I think starting with Yedlin today will be like throwing more petrol on the fire, he has too many errors in him. I hope I am wrong but I think that Danial James kid will hand him his ass on a plate.

Comment #85Harsh on Yedlin he defends well when in position. Biggest issue has been nobody covering for him when he gets forward or being left 2v1.

Comment #86Schar will be seeing plenty of Daniel James (if he starts). That will be a fascinating battle to watch.

A miserable day for game between two miserable sides led by two managers everybody is wondering if it was a mistake to appoint. Hardly ingredients for classic, consequences of defeat for either will be grim and if it’s raining my seat in SJP press box is uncovered #lovefootball

Comment #90Genjikai no photos from me today. No Metro, so sitting with a large glass of wine! No Sky or BT. So I’m just chilling, really not bothered. I can’t believe I’ve come to this! Still hoping for a win though. Hoping Matty proves me wrong.

You waont believe parliament can deal with Jabba, fail to see what hes done wrong. Defend accounts and claim theres no missing money
You say youve read links ive posted and wont believe parliament are in the process of dealing with parasites to football exactly like Jabba
We have numerous MP who have been asked to look into his actions, ive received a letter from the Business secretary says they are looking into his actions a 3 club
You with your expert knowledge disagree

Comment #92toon22 hopefully that will stop people who have been involved with more than 40 companies going into liquidation being able to buy a football club for a pound like what happened at Bury.
but it was the previous owner who got the club into debt by being overly ambitious.

Comment #97Toon saying it’s pointless talking to me when I’m open for debate and to be shown I am incorrect is very rich from someone who just shouts PR at any sign of disagreement.
On the parliament point I believe there is owners out there who are sucking every last penny out the club blatantly while loading the club up with crippling debt. Clubs are not being run in a sustainable fashion and dropping through the leagues into liquidation. That is what these parliamentary discussions are aimed at. As I said people on the outside look at our club and thinks it’s on a sound financial footing (read that piece I linked to about the accounts analysed by an accountant who I think supports the toon).

Comment #99Relegation is our only saviour at the moment!
We wont come back up this time, and deservedly so and Ashley will sell up when we stay in the championship, so it’s really good news when we lose.

Comment #100Ronaldo tammy was always quality and it used to wind me up when people would use him as an example of what a bad target/signing would be calling him tap in etc. I was praying we signed him even on loan as a chance he would have loved being the no9 at the toon etc. That’s all well gone with Bruce etc 🙁

Comment #101Ancient , not to give Bruce credit for spurs is trite in the extreme. In the same way to absolve him of Brighton etc would be foolish. Thats called a balanced appraisal. Guys like jail dont get that, if it says anything even slightly negative of benitez. And thats called an obsession. SB is doing badly, end of. Brave team today though.

Comment #102Delighted we beat Man Yoo but the performance wasn’t good – it was still dire. Delighted for Matty and Sean, Delighted we stopped the rot (or have we ?) 25% possession at HOME v Brighton and one of the worst performances ever against Leicester doesn’t get put right by beating the worst Man Yoo side for decades – and if Maguire hadn’t missed a sitter caused by the same shit marking that caused such a horror show v Leicester it may have been oh so different.
I’m far from convinced. The Longstaff brothers may be the one bit of good news along with Willems improving return of Yedlin and Saint Maxim and Schar but the rest………(and the coach)
