There’s a report in the Chronicle today that a few potential buyers are being put off Newcastle because of the threat of relegation.
We had an article out just over a week ago, in which we said the best time to buy Newcastle would be before the end of this year.
That was because by then Newcastle could be deep in relegation trouble and fighting for our very survival in the Premier League (again).
But that’s not the case at the moment.
In fact, there are even some positive signs with Newcastle having beaten both Tottenham and Manchester United this season – we lost all four of those games last season.
And after 8 games last year we had 2 points, so it’s a better start than last season.
[table “84” not found /]Last season we lost the 9th game 1-0 at home to Brighton – so we had 2 points after 9 games and 3 points after 10 games.
Joseph DaGrosa – interested in buying Newcastle with Peter Kenyon
And if a group really does want to buy Newcastle and have the money, then now’s the time to bid and potentially do the deal.
There are still 30 games left in the season with the possibility that both Longstaff brothers could become star players this season in the Newcastle engine room.
New owners would be able to fund the January transfer window so the squad could be improved, and they would have no qualms about dismissing manager Steve Bruce if we keep losing too many games.
They will feel no particular loyalty to him, whereas Ashley and Charnley do – because they hired him to replace Rafa Benitez – to the dismay of Newcastle fans.
So we very much doubt any group is put off by a possible relegation this season – not yet anyway.
That becomes more of an issue when January rolls around if we are fighting relegation when there are a lot fewer games to play.
After New Years Day, when hopefully we can beat Leicester City at home, we have just 16 league games to play this season.
If a group is really interested in acquiring Newcastle, they need to bid, and if that doesn’t happen, it could simply be that groups just don’t have the money Ashley wants for the club.
And we’re still not convinced that Mike Ashley wants to sell the club.
What do you think?
Comments welcome.
On a personal note – my wife Madeline (originally from Longbenton) and I have just celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary – and they said it wouldn’t last.
🙂 🙂 🙂

Comment #4I do wonder if football people read this blog.
I was saying about kell watts 2 weeks back that if stevenage want to start winning, kell is a good cb but hes an even better mid fielder.
They put him in midfield last 2 games and won.
One in the cup one in the league.
Interesting.

Comment #8Genj that’s pretty crazy to think premier managers or staff are on here looking for tactical advice off of you or anyone on here tbf.
MAYBE Steve Bruce comes on here from time to time to decide what formation to player what positions to play his players, MAYBE! But that’s it.

Hi
I would like to bring to your attention recent events regarding MA and his financial dealings in football
My concern is that through his actions, Mr Ashley may create a conflict of interests and bypass the ‘fit and proper ‘ persons test which is designed to protect against holding interests across multiple football clubs
He is systematically trying and exploit football clubs and their supporters
In my opinion the sport and it’s supporters need protection again him and people like him as these actions may undermine the commercial autonomy of football clubs.
Can you help ?
Yours

Comment #21From The Manchester Evening news
“A man who bored cabin crew to death and would not shut up on a flight, forcing the plane to divert, has been jailed.
geordietom subjected cabin crew to a mind numbingly boring episode of shite patter during a Thomas Cook flight from Manchester to Fuerteventura, Manchester Crown Court heard.
geordietom’s unbelievably bad craic– which included talking about cruises and frogs – caused the captain to divert the plane to Faro, Portugal.

I would like to object to the proposed development of Strawberry Place Reference 2019/0879/01/DET
I have concerns over public access to the football ground, especially during match days and feel it will endanger the safety of the public greatly
It would also impact the skyline of the City dramatically, forever changing the city.
In my view the proposed use of the land is in no way required to be situated in that location.
Yours
Its probably best for people to include specific concerns and not just go for the generic one size fits all
Remember they will he to consider all concerns to the more the better
