Takeover – Potential Buyers Unlikely To Be Concerned About This

There’s a report in the Chronicle today that a few potential buyers are being put off Newcastle because of the threat of relegation.

We had an article out just over a week ago, in which we said the best time to buy Newcastle would be before the end of this year.

That was because by then Newcastle could be deep in relegation trouble and fighting for our very survival in the Premier League (again).

But that’s not the case at the moment.

In fact, there are even some positive signs with Newcastle having beaten both Tottenham and Manchester United this season – we lost all four of those games last season.

And after 8 games last year we had 2 points, so it’s a better start than last season.

PosTeamGamesGDPoints
12Southampton27-1434
13Crystal Palace27-833
14Newcastle27-1731
15Brighton27-728
16Bournemouth27-1726
17Aston Villa27-1825

Last season we lost the 9th game 1-0 at home to Brighton – so we had 2 points after 9 games and 3 points after 10 games.

Joseph DaGrosa – interested in  buying Newcastle with Peter Kenyon

And if a group really does want to buy Newcastle and have the money, then now’s the time to bid and potentially do the deal.

There are still 30 games left in the season with the possibility that both Longstaff brothers could become star players this season in the Newcastle engine room.

New owners would be able to fund the January transfer window so the squad could be improved, and they would have no qualms about dismissing manager Steve Bruce if we keep losing too many games.

They will feel no particular loyalty to him, whereas  Ashley and Charnley do – because they hired him to replace Rafa Benitez – to the dismay of Newcastle fans.

So we very much doubt any group is put off by a possible relegation this season – not yet anyway.

That becomes more of an issue when January rolls around if we are fighting relegation when there are a lot fewer games to play.

After New Years Day, when hopefully we can beat Leicester City at home, we have just 16 league games to play this season.

If a group is really interested in acquiring Newcastle, they need to bid, and if that doesn’t happen, it could simply be that groups just don’t have the money Ashley wants for the club.

And we’re still not convinced that Mike Ashley wants to sell the club.

What do you think?

Comments welcome.

On a personal note – my wife Madeline (originally from Longbenton) and I have just celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary – and they said it wouldn’t last.

🙂 🙂 🙂

Jail: Psychological projection is a defence mechanism in which the human ego defends itself against its impulses by denying their existence in themselves while attributing them to others. For example, a person who is habitually rude may constantly accuse other people of being rude. Sounds like someone we know.

    From The Telegraph
”A tiger-mauling death at a Derbyshire zoo is under investigation by local authorities who say the victim climbed a fence into the tiger’s enclosure.

The attack occurred Saturday at a resort in the Peak district, A local police statement says the victim, identified only by his surname of Smith, had been talking to geordietom for only five minutes before screaming and climbing the fence.

Smith, who had seemed perfectly normal before speaking to geordietom allegedly passed through a wire netting and eventually climbed a wall to enter the tiger enclosure, while geordietom carried on talking incessantly the statement said. A tiger attacked him inside the enclosure, as visitors to the park apparently watched from a distance. Photos and video shared on social media appear to show Smith lying on the ground as tigers circle him.

Local television reported geordietom was shot with a tranquilliser dart which seemed to calm down the tiger and the crowd around him, geordietom has since been arrested and charged with GBP (Grievously Boring Patter)

Sorry but I don’t have too much faith in politicians of any of the big parties. The present shenanigans in parliament show them up to be even worse than some of our bloggers. 🙂

All joking aside, it’s likely that Mattie’s weekly wages will probably go up to around £30k a week, not a bad pay rise!

I can see a publishable joke book in the making courtesy of Jail and Geordietom, the royalties will help provide a nice little bonus for Ed and Madeline towards a celebration anniversary dinner.

    Congrats Ed.

Toon22 how could Ashley be creating a conflict of interests and bypassing the ‘fit and proper ‘ persons test which is designed to protect against holding interests across multiple football clubs?

There’s no chance of anyone buying the club this season because relegation is almost guaranteed with this squad. We will be in the bottom three at Christmas,Bruce will be gone and the parasite will have his fingers crossed that we can somehow manage to scrape 17th place then it will all start again this time next year. The sooner people realise that Jabba doesn’t want to sell the better,it’s his favourite cash cow and he isn’t selling it till he has too.Congrats Ed and Madeline.

Relegation has absolutely nothing to do with it. If someone wanted to buy the club they wouldn’t be trying to do so when there is a threat of relegation, they would simply put a bid in during the summer when the club is safely a premiership club. The fact that no one does so and the only ‘bids’ surface when we are at chance of being relegated, during a transfer window or to bury bad news (Rafa being sacked for instance)says more about the validity of those bids than anything else.
