Carlisle Give Newcastle Striker Rare Moment In Leasing.com Trophy

Carlisle manager Steven Pressley has handed Elias Sorensen just his third start of the season.

Carlisle are facing Blackpool at home in the Group stage of the Leasing.com Trophy tonight. Sorensen has been an unused substitute in Carlisle’s three previous matches, all of which were in the league.

Sorensen started in the last match of the Leasing.com Trophy competition in late September. Carlisle lost 2-4 at home to the Wolves Under-21 team.

That match was the only full ninety-minute appearance of Sorensen’s loan spell. His only other start was in a 1-0 win at Scunthorpe though Sorensen was substituted at half-time.

    He could be playing against League one opposition for NUFC U21s in this cup. I see absolutely no reason why he’s at Carlisle United at all.

    Broken record time, apologies.

    Neil from previous, I was only pulling your leg. It’s interesting to get a glimpse of football from a different perspective, including the use of different terminology.

    Watching a bit of the England U21’s, it is a big ask for Matty to force his way in there. You’d like to think he could challenge the Charlton midfielder Gallagher for a spot, but don’t know enough on Gallagher to know if the are similar players or not. Willock, Davies, Skipp, and Foden are all very good players. However only Willock has had decent game time this year.

    Hopefully Matty can stake his claim, he will be young enough for the 2023 u21 tournament still, so he may get integrated later in qualifying for the future if he can stake a claim for a regular place at NUFC.

    Shame Sean is a couple of months too old for this u21 qualifying and tournament. You’d think had he not got injured he might have squeezed into the summers squad for the tournament just gone.

    Sorrensen’s at Carlisle for one or both of the following reasons:

    1 – Shola hasn’t a clue what he’s doing;

    2 – Shola’s been told to arrange loans to reduce the wage-bill:
