Chelsea Game Is So Important – Will It Be Like Spurs Or Leicester?

Last time out, we saw the debut of 19-year-old Matty Longstaff and how well he played in Newcastle’s engine room alongside his older brother Sean.

We got a much-needed win against a poor-looking but very expensive Manchester United side, and that lifted the spirits of Newcastle fans everywhere.

Now we have a tough game at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon (3:00 pm kickoff) against an improving Chelsea side under their new manager and former star player – Frank Lampard.

We are hoping Newcastle can maintain the same form we showed against Manchester United and at Tottenham when we also got an excellent 1-0 win.

But the side has been up and down in form, and we’re not sure which side will turn up in London on Saturday.

Steve Bruce – can he get another big win on Saturday?

We expect that Steve Bruce could pick an unchanged side and give the Longstaff brothers another chance to impress against good opposition.

But a collapse in form would not be good and think with a good display we could even take something out of this game.

We let everybody down at Leicester City when we collapsed to a 5-0 defeat – and some players even gave up.

That’s something not seen since those miserable days with Steve McClaren as the manager.

We cannot have another display like that this season – the lads must be ready for every game.

They must give 100% and show some courage and pride while wearing the famous Newcastle United shirt.

News today that Matty Longstaff is very close to signing a new deal to stay at Newcastle – his current contract runs out next summer.

Sean still has a contract through 2022 with the club trying to give him an improved six-year deal.

But Sean may be waiting to see what Manchester United offer him in January.

We’d like to see both brothers on long improved contracts – and as soon as possible.

And we are hoping the lads can give another 100% all-out display at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

If we do that, then anything is possible – including even another win.

That would something – in fact, it would be terrific.

Here is where we stand in the league at the moment.

    RobLeenio – from last topic.

The money is obscene especially when you consider that Bury could probably be saved with the same amount of money from a couple of weeks wages of the Premiership top earners!
