Former Newcastle Defender Questions Recent Spending

Former Newcastle left-back Jose Enrique spent four years with Newcastle after joining from Villareal in 2007. He endured the low of relegation in 2009 but stuck with the club to help Newcastle bounce straight back up to the Premier League.

However, the following year saw the club sell Andy Carroll and captain Kevin Nolan, and it proved to be too much for the Spaniard. He publicly criticized the club’s transfer business and was sold to Liverpool in August of 2011. Joey Barton left for QPR just a few weeks later.

Ironically, Newcastle had a stellar season that year and finish 5th in the Premier League. However, it turned out to be an artificial bump as the club began the slide toward their second relegation under Mike Ashley just five years later.

Jose Enrique has made some comments about where he believes Newcastle should be challenging year in and out. Here is what he had to say as published in the Shields Gazette:

“Obviously, top four is very difficult, but it should be a team that fights for fifth and six position, definitely. It’s very difficult now, but it should be a team fighting for Europa League. It should be there.”

“I think it’s a team for the Premier League. It’s a team that should be fighting for things.

“Steve Bruce is a top manager as well. Rafa was doing well with not much money to spend. All of a sudden they give so much money to spend this summer instead of giving it to Rafa. Hopefully, they don’t get relegated.”

Unfortunately, Rafa had the club primed for a run at European competition if he received the right backing this summer. However, the club did not seem to share Rafa’s vision for Newcastle United, and the Spanish legend left when his contract ran out.

We are not sure if there is a correlation between Rafa leaving and funds becoming available under newly appointed Steve Bruce. The Joelinton and Allan Saint-Maximin deals seemed to have been in the works for some time before being completed.

However, it’s not likely that Newcastle will be challenging in the top half this season. We’ll have to see what transpires in the next two windows to see if it’s where they can aspire to get to next year.

    From CNN,
”Elephant charges crowd at Sri Lanka Buddhist festival”

At least 17 people were injured after two elephants became restless after their mahouts had been talking to geordietom for a matter of minutes before stampeding down a street during a religious parade in Sri Lanka.

The incident happened during the perahera of the Kotte Rajamaha Viharaya temple –the first procession of the Sacred Tooth Relic geordietom who was staying in a nearby resort had been annoying other tourists with his shite patter earlier that day was seen approaching the mahouts who were in perfect control of the elephants before geordietom arrived

The elephants were part of the procession when the mahouts got distressed which in turn distressed the elephants, according to local news source Adaderana.

Video captured one of the frightened elephants running through the crowd, trampling those in its path. It wasn’t until police arrived on the scene and shot geordietom with a tranquiliser dart that both the elephants and mahouts calmed down and peace was restored.

It’s highly likely that there’s a ‘correlation between Rafa leaving and funds becoming available under newly appointed Steve Bruce.

Charnley, with Ashley working his mouth, said that money’d be available for transfers if Rafa stayed. That though was probably said as part of Bishop’s attempt to discredit Rafa as being unreasonable. Ashley would know that Rafa wouldn’t sign up to his terms and thus went ahead with pursuing Joelinton and St Maximini. Bruce happened to be the best they could do and make no mistake, signings would’ve been brought in regardless of who the Head Coach turned out to be.

police called to Ocean Road Area this afternoon what we know , there’s appears to be a aggressive begger causing mayhem on ocean road he goes by the name of JAIL. he was asking people for money when they refused he took his food and spittal and phlegm stained T shirt off and threatened people with it asking for more money .when people refused him he took his dirty track suit bottoms off and people were disgusted on seeing his urine stains . police were called they turned up in hazmat suits and took him away to the nearest dog kennels to get him cleaned up for his appearance at North Tyneside magistrates court tomorrow morning… JAIL IS Notorious for this type of behaviour… if you see Jail in South Shields give him a wide berth …

I’ve been to the City council website with the intention of lodging an objection the the Strawberry Place plans and there’s several reasons why I haven’t.

One do you have to register to be able to object.

Two, on reading some of the objections I noticed that they give out address’s for every objection, something i’d rather keep to myself.

Three I couldn’t see an actual email address to send an email to. Do you get this when you are registered?

Incidentally the objections I read looked to be well thought out, precise and to the point, well done to those objectors.

Just thinking, this alleged takeover, so they pay £175m, what happens if we then get relegated and they can’t stump up the balance? Does that mean they own (roughly) half the club and ashLIE owns the rest? Or are they in default and the full transfer doesn’t go through which would mean that ashLIE still owns us? Does the first payment wipe out the Club’s debt to ashLIE, I think it’s around £144m, or does it go into his pocket and the last payment covers the debt?

I want him out as much as anyone but…….

Frying pan and fire come to mind.
