Lampard Confirms Three Internationals Out For Saturday

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard had his pre-match press conference this morning. He gave the following update on the injury situation for Chelsea.

Both Danish defender Andreas Christensen and French midfielder N’Golo Kante will not be out for the Newcastle match. German defender Antonio Rudiger is also out as he is still recovering from a groin injury.

This is some good news for Newcastle as it leaves just Kurt Zouma and Fikayo Tomori as the center-back partnership. They have played together twice this season – in the 2-2 home draw against Sheffield United and in the 4-1 win at Southampton just before the break.

N’Golo Kante had recovered from an early season ankle injury just last month. It now looks like he will have another spell on the sidelines with a groin injury. Though it does not look like it is too serious.

This is a big opportunity for Newcastle to get something at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. They were able to defeat a depleted Manchester United squad at St James Park. This one, though, will be a much tougher one to pull off.

However, the lads have a golden opportunity to get a result on Saturday if they can replicate their Manchester United performance at Stamford Bridge.

How Will Newcastle Do At Chelsea On Saturday?

  • Lose (46%, 583 )
  • Draw (28%, 354 )
  • Win (25%, 318 )

Let’s hope it doesn’t rain too much down in London. I’m worried about St Max playing on a rain softened pitch with that dodgy hamstring.
I’ll be glad when the frost comes so he gets to play on a proper hard surface that he prefers.

“We used to fight a lot and my mam once had to ask Newcastle’s coaches to have a word and tell us to behave but we got it out of the way at a young age. We realised we had to help each other.” lONGSTAFFS

Not sure this has been picked up, an excellent read.

Can’t believe I’m saying this but a more direct approach with either JoeLinton or Gayle playing off Carroll may be a weapon against what’s left of the Chelsea Defence. A 3-5-2 anyone?
