Ciaran Clark, Matty Longstaff, And DeAndre Yedlin Get Starts At Chelsea

Here is the team that Steve Bruce has just announced for Stamford Bridge

It’s an unchanged side for Newcastle this afternoon. Bruce has decided to keep with the team that defeated Manchester United two weeks ago. We think this is a wise decision by the head coach.

It’s most likely the same formation though we expect the wing-backs to sit a little deeper in more of a 5-4-1.

Here is who our opponents will send out this afternoon.

It’s a strong line-up for the hosts. We’ll see some future England stars in Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, and Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Can the lads get just their third victory of the campaign and make it two wins on the trot? All three points could see Newcastle significantly climb the table while a loss could see us back in the relegation zone.

Howay The Lads!

Longstaffs up against Jorginho and Barkley. Barkley in particular not known for his work-rate. Two teams look fairly well matched to me.

Our 3CBs hopefully stay tight to Abraham and crowd him out.

Need more from Joelinton and Almiron.

    Going for a 1-1 draw.

If we get beat in this game it absolutely cannot be because we are shocking and capitulate like we did at Norwich and Leicester.

Two performances like that were bad enough but a third in nine games would be totally unacceptable.

Away games really show the mettle and organisation of a team, or otherwise, and Bruce has to have them up and at it for today’s game.

For me, this is the first really big test of Bruce’s management of NUFC.

My prediction is, if things arent going well he will take off Joelinton and bring on Carroll and Gayle at the same time and go with 2 up front. Wait and see!!

Chelsea are full of confidence at the moment. We are way too weak.

    Chelsea comfortable 2 nil win.

Sic M. Longstaff on Jorghinho and we could have a game on our hands. I thought it was interesting that during the Man Utd game — the side broke away on the attack — Matty Longstaff was the only person in the opposition box.

    M. Longstaff is the very definition of a box-to-box midfielder going on the little I have seen of him. I just hope his attacking intent isn’t stifled at this crucial stage of his breakout.

I think Bruce might be running out of patience with almiron. I don’t know how much more even fans can take of almiron who looks so so poor.

I don’t like to brag, but I’m sat in a cafe bathed in sunshine in Nador on the Northern Mediterranean Coast of Morrocco, having just had a quite astonishingly bountiful fresh seafood lunch for about 4 quid, and now watching the match on a big screen and listening to the live commentary on the official NUFC website. Good Lord, how splendid!

Gayle is the most natural finisher we have at the club and I would like to see him get some game time today.

Why would you hope and want 3 points when the only hope to get that FCB out is for us to get relegated!?

Seems to me fans want Mike kept as owner and traitor Bruce as head coach (and these call themselves fans lol)

Has a feel of the arsenal game with the weather and level of opposition. Difference is we have a better performing side. So no reason to think we can’t get something here.
