Newcastle At Chelsea – Poll Results, Predictions, and Injuries

This is our predicted line-up for this afternoon’s match at Chelsea. It is an unchanged side from the 1-0 victory against Manchester United two weeks ago.

We believe Steve Bruce with stay with the same eleven that were able to get the job done a few weeks ago. Though, if he does decide to make a change, we think it could be Andy Carroll in for Joelinton and Emil Krafth in for DeAndre Yedlin.

Both teams have three players unavailable through injury or suspension. Steve Bruce, though, has the same players to choose from as a few weeks ago. Isaac Hayden is still serving his suspension for the sending of at Leicester City. It’s still too soon for Florian Lejeune and Matt Ritchie.

Chelsea will have a strong team to select from except in central defense. The international break was harsh on them with defender Andreas Christensen and midfielder N’Golo Kante both getting slight injuries.

Center-back Antonio Rudiger is still struggling to return after playing only 45 minutes this season. He made his return from April knee surgery after the last international break against Wolves. However, he suffered a groin injury in the first half that still has him sidelined.

Newcastle Injuries

Florian Lejeune – knee, Matt Ritchie – ankle

Chelsea Injuries

Antonio Rudiger – groin, Andreas Christensen – hamstring, N’Golo Kante – groin

In our poll for this match, 46% of the 1,255 votes think the lads will lose at Stamford Bridge. Though it is interesting that a majority of the voters think Newcastle will get a result. 54% of the total votes were for either a win or a draw in the match. We like the sound of that.

How Will Newcastle Do At Chelsea On Saturday?

  • Lose (46%, 583 )
  • Draw (28%, 354 )
  • Win (25%, 318 )

Total Voters: 1,255

Hi all, I see there’s some on here saying judge SB only by his and the teams performances this season.well I will be judging him by those criteria but I’m also judging him by the fact he signed up for Mike Ashley’s NUFC .
the absolute fiasco that went on at the end of last season which culminated in Rafa getting squeezed out of the club for daring to be ambitious and demanding ambition from the owner was plain for all to see yet SB still signed up to be a part of it.

District line has delays today and isn’t going to Fulham Broadway, just an FYI for anyone coming down.

Money may have been a factor in rafa leaving but i very much doubt it was the only consideration, given he is now separated from his uk based family and loved ones.

I would think even offering rafa 12 – 15m a season would be small change to insure against relegation and keep us moving forward incrementally.

We’ve paid a small fortune for bruce and his b team and backed a poor manager with big funds on strange choices which he probably didn’t even know about.

I think if Arteta or Viera had rocked up we could have accepted that far more readily. It’s just that bruce spectacularly takes us down from gently aspirational and progressive to grim faced reality in a heartbeat.

Nobody really blames bruce for taking the gig, but when replacing an elite coach with another from the McCarver category it’s hard for the vast majority to accept.

That said, the Longstaffs have created a real buzz and if a consequence of that is bruce achieving better results then great.
