Who Was Newcastle’s Best Player In 1-0 Defeat At Chelsea?

We can’t fault the performance this afternoon. The result, though disappointing, was a fair one as Chelsea proved too much in the second half.

The hosts had 72% possession and outshot Newcastle 16-5. Martin Dubravka was able to keep out 7 of their 8 attempts on target. But sometimes all it takes is that one goal especially when the Magpies have such trouble creating any of their own.

It was by no means a howler by Dubravka but Alonso’s goal was a disappointing one to concede. Especially since the ex-Sunderland man had been hounded all afternoon by the Newcastle traveling fans.

The defensive performance was outstanding with some crucial blocks made by Clark, Schar, and Yedlin. They maintained their shape while being under constant attack.

The problem this season is going to be goals. Newcastle failed to threaten Chelsea in the slightest. While the counter-attacks were at times exhilarating they all ended in whimpers.

It’s just 5 goals in 9 games and that has to improve somehow. We can’t fault the effort but execution in the final third needs to improve drastically.

It was a big improvement on the last away match at Leicester City. Chelsea just had a bit too much this afternoon.

Joelinton just doesnt have the pace to play in this league. Riviere was more dangerous.

Joelinton will come good but need the team to start playing better when in possession before we will see anything from him.

Some exaggerated reactions. We lost to Chelsea but they didn’t blow as away, a draw was very likely.

I just don’t understand why we didn’t continue with more of the same in the second half. Tiredness? Psychology?(let’s try to get a draw).

Both issues need to be scrutinized, but this is no reason to be wanting Bruce’s head, or anyone’s.

You’re giving me Shit because I think he was in the wrong today and because I think hes no good. If hes in the wrong or if I think hes in the wrong I’m not gonna congratulate him and say he should be given more time like.

Irish I’m not giving you S because of that at all. It’s because you came back at me for saying the players let him down. I suggest you read back.

Should’ve signed Mateta or Sebastien Haller. Faster and more prolific players.Andy Carroll won’t do much for us this season. Might score one or two headers. Our best strikers in the squad are Muto and Gayle.

Your man didn’t get the result today, I mean with traitor Bruce tactical genius and intuition of modern day football he should of conquered Chelsea on all levels.

But don’t worry though because I did say we would get battered 4-0 (should of been if it wasn’t for Dubs) so I’ll let you gloat on that point lol

    😉

I feel like the next run of games will show Us exactly the level we are at and confirm what position we will be in at the end of the season.,

Every match it just seems harder and harder for almiron, joelinton and asm to score or even look remotely like doing so. Losing rondon and perez’s goals and hoping those 3 will replace them is folly.

it will be fairer to said maybe Rafa wouldn’t have lost today.

As Rafa might go for a Draw. (with top teams and the players at our disposal)

Rafa wont go chasing after a Win or a Goal unless needed.

He should be able to understand that by taking off the hardworking Almiron the attack will be coming down the flank.and better adjustment will have to be done.

Instead of shifting the already tired ASM to the other flank.

Could be us and Man Utd going down this season. Man Utd have the worst squad of players in the whole league. Martial is their best player by a mile.

I just cannot get my head around St Maximin being in 2nd place in this poll.

He’s like a bad movie where they decided to bring an Olympic sprinter into the team only to find he can’t actually kick the ball.

While we get all excited with his run’s and his sheer speed the guy can’t shoot and can’t cross the ball.

He needs another string to his extremely restricted bow.
