The win moves the Under-23s up to 9th place after 8 games. It was their third win in the league. Sunderland stay bottom without a win and just 1 point.
As you could imagine, many fans were quite pleased to get one over on our bitter rivals, even it was just the youngsters.

I don’t care if it’s the First team, U23, U18, U9 or a bunch of lads playing in the park – ANY win against the Mackems is brilliant! Well done lads. Howay!! #NUFC #SMB https://t.co/fqqrHjorHg

Comment #2The under 23s sitting 9th in Prem 2 and when he getz wind of it, Ashley’ll be on to Charmless like a shot telling him that they’re too highly placed. They might get ideas above their station!

Comment #3Well theres a decent chance senior hostilities could be resumed next season. Mackems have the time to improve, but I’m not feeling too confident that we will under this regime.

Comment #4Watching Fernandez in his previous first team appearances prior to injury he looked like the best talent we had. You can just tell when a player has amazing technical skills by the way he moves when he has the ball. I wouldn’t mind seeing him on the bench as we are desperate for creativity.

Comment #5Nufc-83; I know what your saying, but personally I think there is amply creativity on the pitch, what we need is a plan. This is cracking group of players that are being wasted due to a manager with no imagination. He may have said he was going back to Rafa’s tactics, but there lies the issue… You can’t copy Rafa’s tactics and think its just drag and drop. A- Its disrespectful to Rafa, to think the job he did was that simple. B – If it were that easy everyone would copy Klopp/Pep to the letter. Rafa’s teams negative or not, had a plan/route to goal. He understood the system he was implementing as it was his system. This isn’t Bruce’s system, so he doesn’t have clue where the routes to goal come from, anyone can set a team up to stand in kumbaya fashion holding hands.
