Pundit Opposes Action Legend In Newcastle Prediction

BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson has made his predictions for this week’s Premier League fixtures. He has selected Newcastle to defeat Wolves by a score of 2-1.

Newcastle have yet to score more than 1 goal in a game this season, but we think they may have it in them to bag a couple on Sunday.

This is what Lawrenson wrote with his prediction:

Wolves had not won any of their first four games on a Sunday this season, then they went and won at Manchester City after their longest trip in the Europa League, to Turkey to play Besiktas.

They go to Slovakia before they go to St James’ Park, where they grabbed a controversial late win against 10 men on their last visit, in December 2018.

Newcastle owe them one, and I think they will come out on top here – just.

Lawrenson is referencing the home loss to Wolves last season when DeAndre Yedlin had a straight red card in the second half. Newcastle held out until a stoppage-time Matt Doherty header sealed the three points for the visitors.

However, we were also unfortunate in the February away match, which Wolves tied in the final seconds when Martin Dubravka was bumped while trying to collect a ball in the box. That match was also Miguel Almiron’s debut for Newcastle.

Lawrenson points out the last time Wolves traveled for a Europa League match. They defeated Besiktas 1-0 in Turkey and then soundly defeated Manchester City 1-2 at the Etihad the following Sunday.

Wolves won their Europa League match at Slovan Bratislava 2-1 this evening. So let’s hope they don’t come to St James Park playing anything like they did against Manchester City.

Former bodybuilder and film star Arnold Schwarzenegger was Lawrenson’s foil in his predictions. Arnold went with a Wolves 0-1 victory. Well, we’ll politely disagree with Arnold on this one.

What Will Be The Result Against Wolves At St James Park?

  • Win (43%, 494 )
  • Loss (35%, 410 )
  • Draw (22%, 255 )

We owe Wolves more than one!

After that game at St James’ Park and also the robbery at Wolverhampton!

I for one would be over the moon at a win for our lads for more than one reason!

    i see our scorers as
    joelinton 5
    almiron 3
    max 3
matty 3 because hayden will return
    sean 3
    carrol 2
    gsyle 1
    clark 1
    schar 3
    lascelles 2
    willems 2
    shelvey 1
    hayden 1

30 but this is the most optimistic outlook. maybe bowen can get 4 after jan and ritchie might score if he still takes pens

It is too early to fully judge the attack, but it’s vital it picks up.

They’ll likely need till January to find their feet and I think they are capable, but this was always likely to happen when you bring in three new young starters from foreign leagues, all for decent money rather than huge too, it must be remembered, we aren’t talking Arsenals Pepe here, although Joelinton was a hefty spend.

The forwards start firing a little better now now we’ve played a few and gotten over our tough start. Shelvey and KiSy should then start to come back into the frame. We’ll get one or two in in January to strengthen where we need it. That’s what Bruce will be thinking you’d imagine and it is of course on the cards.

Dare I say it but we would have been better off selling Gayle for 15M and keeping Joselu. There is no doubt at some stage Joelinton will be injured, suspended or missing for some kind of reason. We’re struggling as it is, what chance have we got with Joelinton and having to rely on Carroll.

Joselu or Joelinton that is a good question, after watching Joelinton waddle about the pitch I would rather have Joselu upfront.

I’ve heard that Dwight Gayle hasn’t been given a chance, the poster Andy Mac said the other day, he featured in 35 of our PL games a couple of seasons ago and scored six goals. Like Bruce’s management record, why are people suddenly expecting this to improve.

I wasn’t saying that but at least with Joselu it would take a bit of pressure off Joelinton.

With the amount of pace we’ve got upfront we need someone who offers something else. We really could do with an Erikson/ Da Silva type with some footballing brains who can pick out a pass. Spurs have fell apart since Erikson got unhappy. We missed out on Wilson this year and Maddison the year before who were both obvious choices. Maybe Bruce has to find a way to get Shelvey in picking out the front 3 or maybe Lejuenes is the answer.

We will miss Schar on Sunday. I remember checking our stats when he played last year versus when he didn’t play. And I don’t think we won a single game in the 15 or so he missed while we had almost top 6 form in the games he played. Must have been similar stats for Lejuene too as he was out for both our bad runs. I’ll go 1-1 on Sunday as Bruce still hasn’t shown us he has a plan for the lower 13. If he comes up with some decent strategy we should win 2-1.

Anyone who will score 6 for us this season could be our saviour.
I know he won’t get 35 games now, but against that, it’s a different, and I’d argue a better team he’d be playing in.

Carroll is certainly a far better option than Joselu because he’s at least effective when he is available, which has been about 50% of the time since he originally left, and of course he’s recently had that comprehensive surgery and the club have him on an “appropriate” deal, and this is Andy Carroll, he does belong at the club, so to me you do what you can to get him back.

I’d have been more than happy going in with say Carroll and Rondon, St Max, Almiron, Perez and Bowen.

Muto, Gayle, Atsu I’d have been quite happy to have seen moved on in that case, not because they’re are poor but simply because we appear to need more. Joelinton is quite a curious signing, but of course can come good, although he is not at all the finished article and really shouldn’t be leading the line as first choice.

Worst start since, not worst start ever and it was caused by an owner seemingly enjoying working against the manager, if our former manager had of had 61M spent on him do you think it would have been the case.

Again trying to rubbish Rafa in favour of Bruce. Just what the f is your problem. Everyone knows you’re ultra annoying and a total jerk and complete gobshite at times but to be fair you don’t come across as being really catchy style dumb. Yet every single thing against Ashley and Bruce and bang you’re straight in there licking a-s. Hibbit flags up bruce’s appalling stats and you immediately try and diss Rafa.

As I say just what the f is your problem when the vast majority can tell the difference between a superb manager and a desperately poor one which has been so strongly demonstrated for so many years, not just comparing a poor start to one particular season. Ask villa and S’land fans about Bruce or for that matter people who get football.

Jib is the most pointless clueless poster on here.

For several years he’s shouted that everyone is far to negative, Ashley wants to sell and it’s not as bad as people make out

That’s despite two religations, constantly battling the drop and our owner thinking he knows more about football than anyone he employs. Let’s not forget all the buyers who wasted Ashley’s time

If everyone started saying Ashley and Bruce are excellent for Nufc, sure as shit Jib would say the opposite.

Why even bother trying to debate or have a discussion when the king wum of the blog just wants to take the piss

Jib is Ashley incarnate, divide disrupt and deny.

At least Joelinton has scored, Perez hasn’t.

It will be interesting to see who ends up scoring more this season.

I don’t see why any non ending criticism and doom of Bruce is taken as any form of criticism of Rafa.

Comparing Rafa’s record to Bruce’s is largely irrelevant considering that Rafa has managed some of Europe’s top teams and Bruce has, like the vast majority of managers, taken charge of exactly the opposite.

Saying that, I’d far rather have Rafa but while Bruce is here and he still appears to have the support of the players he’ll get my support as well.

IMO that’s the attitude supporters of NUFC should take.
