Well, it’s a new injury wave for Newcastle United. Just when we thought we would have all of our players available for selection for Sunday, there are two new injuries that the club must assess.
Yesterday we noticed both Fabian Schar and Andy Carroll were missing from training when Newcastle released their images of the session. This morning it was reported that Schar suffered a minor knee injury at Stamford Bridge last Saturday. He is still being assessed as to his availability this Sunday against Wolves.
Steve Bruce had given comments yesterday about Andy Carroll only training two days a week. That was sufficient as an explanation for Andy missing Wednesday’s training session.
However, the Chronicle are reporting that the 30-year-old will definitely miss out on this weekend’s clash with Wolves. Andy has a minor groin injury that will keep him at home for Sunday’s match.
The report says that Andy’s injury is just a minor tweak and nothing serious. Bruce is keeping Carroll out of the squad as a precaution, which is the sensible thing to do.
It is, however, disappointing that we now have two fresh injury scares just when we were on the brink of having a full squad available for selection.
