Bruce Not Happy With Wolves Midfielder

Steve Bruce does not agree with Sean Longstaff’s sending off this afternoon. He also thinks that Ruben Neves should be ashamed of himself for rolling around after Sean’s tackle.

This is what Bruce said after the match as tweeted by the Chronicle’s Ciaran Kelly:

Steve Bruce also spoke to NUFC TV after the game and commented some more on Sean’s sending off:

“He’s played the ball. Yes, I understand he’s got a flailing right foot. But what is he supposed to do with it? You know it’s in the air.

“It’s a difficult one. I would expect Longstaff to make that challenge. And he’s won the ball. I think it’s very harsh.”

When asked about if Longstaff’s challenge was under similar circumstances to Isaac Hayden’s at Leicester City, Bruce had the following to say:

“You put your hands up with Isaac. Today, I’ve got to try and help the boy because I don’t think it’s a red card. Maybe in today’s world, but I think he’s been hard done by.”

Steve Bruce does not appear to just be covering for his player. He was candid when Isaac Hayden received a straight red for his challenge on Dennis Praet. This is what Steve Bruce said about Isaac’s tackle at the time.

“In today’s game, you can’t follow through and be reckless. When he looks back, he’ll know he was wrong.”

We tend to agree with Steve Bruce on this one. Isaac’s challenge was a lot more dangerous and could have seriously hurt Praet.

That was not the case with Sean’s tackle on Neves. While he did catch him high on his leg, and Sean was not in full control, the power behind the challenge was not enough to put Neves in any real threat of injury.

Sports Direct FC is an absolute shambles.Todays performance was dire but what do you expect with this lot.The defense on its day is top ten quality but the rest aren’t fit for purpose. Its a championship squad thanks to the ineptitude of the parasite and it’s underlings. At least in the championship next season we will be top half.Never more so than today Bruce has demonstrated his ineptitude by not making the tactical changes when required.Wolves were there for the taking but once again the lack of quality was there for all to see.

I think Almiron should be tried in midfield alongside the returning Hayden in our next game.
It would take a lot of the pressure to score off him, and the way he operates in and around the middle of the pitch suggests he is more suited to a midfield role.
That would allow us to play St.Max. Joelinton/Gayle, and Atsu up front giving us a bigger threat on goal, and a very creative, hard working midfield.

Against Spurs today Liverpool had 21 shots, including 13 on target and 15 from inside the box

Curious to know how we did in comparison ?

Is there any manager brave enough to play with out and out wingers nowadays ? All these shite formations are killing many a potential good game ..If I want to watch chess I will go to a chess match .

Bring back wingers and 442 that’s what I say .

Sir Bob will be turning in his proverbial.

I thought first half we were good and created some decent opportunities and we were really energetic and first to every ball!

But second half with Bruce AGAIN!! Nuno changed formations about 3 times in that 2nd half and Bruce didn’t react to any of it until far too late!!

Arsenal, Chelsea and Wolves have been badly dropped points that could so easily have been avoided if we were intending on defending the goal why not bring on Dummett for Willems to seal off that left side which was getting battered for 15 odd mins before the goal?! Why not bring on Muto or Gayle for Joelinton for the ball over the top?

Very basic errors in management and before people go on about Rafa and subs he actually didn’t have the option to bring on the likes of Gayle, Muto, Dummet, Atsu, Shelvey as potential game changers at the start of last season as a few of them were injured or not with the club! Much stronger bench at the moment!

Can’t believe that chance Almiron missed in the first half when he was clean through hes got to be taking a better touch and putting that in the back of the net!

Our team and our tactics are exactly as expected with the traitor as manager and Jabba as an owner
One has no idea about tactics
The other no idea whats needed to have a successful team

A kind of dream team of idiocy

Until Jabbas gone it wont ever change

As we could change the manager

Making a double sub in the 89th min ( with 5 mins extra) in some kind of hope someone gets something
    Without any kind of plan

And almost losing if it wernt for them missing an absolute sitter

Tells you exactly whats upstairs for the manager
It also tells you what Jabba and his goons know about football or running a football club

Nothing will change or ever impove until the problem is removed

    Jabba needs removing

This weekend we should manage a draw against Wolves under the circumstances. Southampton and Watford are very likely to be defeated by Leicester and Bournemouth respectively and Norwich will either lose or possibly sneak a draw against the Mancs.

That should pull us just out of the relegation zone on 9 points. It might be better or it might be worse. Depends on which NUFC turn up on Sunday.

    –––

OK, Watford got a draw, which makes no difference whatsoever. It wasn’t a difficult forecast but it was right for once. Yeeeaaaaaaah! [fades away pathetically].

Not sure what the red card has to do with shape, wolves were all over us when we had 11 men , Bruce had ample time to make changes / formation prior to goal and the later red card – was clear to see we were being overran and ASM / Linton were knackered, albeit I’ve no idea how Linton was knackered – barely did owt

Wing backs dont cut the mustard for me ..or at least ours don’t.. crossing is woefully inept

Playing 343 etc is ok for the likes of city and say Chelsea using inverted wingers (Willian) and creating space for in our case, average wing backs …but we don’t have a Willian or a Hazard to give them that space .

Could see what was going on with Ritchie and Almiron late last season ..worked to a degree.

Also noted the amount of moaning about Ritchie and Almirons play together .. Almiron created space for Ritchie to do his job as a wing back and got some decent balls in .

Was interesting to watch but it’s not working out this season ..Ritchie will be back soon so reserve judgement on the wing back system and 343 ..horses for courses .

It’s a fanny old game…as Greavsie used to say.

Yeah i would like to see us get back to a 433 or 4231 with the 2 Longstaffs and Hayden in the middle that should offer us enough work rate and quality on the ball to allow us to have some control! Although missing Longstaff for 3 games we could put Joelinton as a no 10 with Gayle up front…..

    Formations dont really matter
We arnt up to that kind of level right now

Its more about who can get a goal and hope they arnt good enough to score

We have no plan and no hope of out thinking anyone

Its the best Jabba could get, its more important he gets to gamble on player values than competing in the league

We all know thats the important thing here

Matty Longstaff might just be the catalyst for Shelvey to get back in the starting 11 and stay there

Seeing a young kid take your place is a nightmare for an established senior pro ..best is yet to come from Shelvey..always said he has all the tools but needs a bomb under his Arse.

Don’t call the bomb squad, theres no fireworks here.

Cept for the missus with her electric bra. Really she got one.

we have the right shape midfield which Rafa found and which did well second half of last season.

credit to Bruce for going with it because it wouldn’t be his choice.

you have to be pragmatic and do the best with the players you have got.

maybe Bleatin’ n Bruced knows better.

How on earth, after yet another poor performance from Brewcey’s team, did Munster Mag manage to involve a swipe at Rafa and his crap signings and substitutions in to the fray. To say he wanted him here long term and funded is a huge misinterpretation of the truth, if he really did want him here, it was solely in the hope he failed so he could come on here and gloat. He’s footing gutted that Rafa never signed off on Joelinton to give him more ammo for his barbs. The fact he has never once mentioned Brewcey attacking the lesser teams more makes a complete mockery of his claims of fair and balanced posts.
