This is the lineup we have predicted for today’s match against Wolves. It has just one forced change from last weekend with Federico Fernandez replacing the injured Fabian Schar.
Despite the murmurs that Dwight Gayle may get a start this afternoon, we still think Bruce will go with a front three of Joelinton, Allan Saint-Maximin, and Miguel Almiron. We also don’t see him playing around with the formation after the disaster at Leicester City.
On the injury front, it’s another setback with both Andy Carroll and Fabian Schar ruled out with recent knocks. They join Matt Ritchie, Florian Lejeune, and Isaac Hayden (suspension) as being unavailable for selection.
Wolves suffered a massive misfortune as their best defender Willy Boly broke his ankle in training. He will be out indefinitely. They could also be without center-back Ryan Bennett today as well. He will be assessed for fitness before the match.
Newcastle Injuries
Florian Lejeune – knee, Matt Ritchie – ankle, Andy Carroll – groin, Fabian Schar – knee
Wolves Injuries
Willy Boly – ankle, Pedro Neto – Heel, Bruno Jordao – ankle, Meritan Shabani – knee, Ryan Bennett – hip (late fitness test)
The results of the poll show that 43% of voters think that Newcastle will get all three points while 35% are predicting a Wolves win. A win could see us climb a couple of places in the table, depending on what happens with Manchester United at Norwich City.
This a golden opportunity to get three points and also get more than one goal in a game for the first time this season. We think the boys can do just that.
Howay The Lads!
What Will Be The Result Against Wolves At St James Park?
- Win (43%, 494 )
- Loss (35%, 410 )
- Draw (22%, 255 )

Comment #83I don’t think the Joelinton fee is suspicious
Four years ago LPool paid £30M for
Roberto Firmino who was the same age as Joe
is now and had very similar stats at Hoffenheim .
RF is now valued in excess of £80M.
They both have the same agent ROGON in Germany
and the agency will have bargained hard for Joelinton

Comment #84I think the vast majority have to accept that the Ashley / Bruce loving people are thankfully in the minority, despite the odd blowhard endlessly piping up in their defence and going against the overwhelming evidence stacked against them.
Rafa = brilliant manager, 13 trophies to date.
Perez = Superb technical player
Rondon = Real talisman
Bruce = 3rd rate manager, never won a thing or ever approached by a big club.
Joelinton = No one even knows his position
ASM = Exciting but little end product.
I know it’s a waste of time with trying to explain football to some people, but here goes again….
”Launching long balls is the easy way out for his players. A statement that you are not prepared to take a risk, look for clever ball, the inventive angle and just want rid of the ball before you make a mistake. And most of Bruce’s defence and midfield were guilty.”
Oh and Jib, as others have said you’re a weapon and you are to football what mike Tyson is to floristry. Cue trying to hack people’s posts again and more alt alerts. Sad act.

Comment #85Shelvey has never really played to a high standard consistently while in the prem. He had a decent spell at Swansea playing much higher up the pitch when Gomis was striker as his movement was great but used to miss lots of chances. He had a few spells early on for us that were ok but and he was obviously too good in a side that dominated the championship. There is no need to drop back into the cbs space when we have the likes of Schar and Lejuerne yet he continues to do it game in game out. He never moves into a position to receive the ball yet makes what I would call token runs in which he clearly is marked rather than really wanting to get free and receive the pass. His defensive intelligence is shocking so there is no way he plays in a 2 man Cm formation. The guy is done and needs to go ASAP.

Comment #86Rotonda I did have a level of respect for you as at least it seemed you knew something about football yet completely writing off ASM after performing so well in such a defensive and poor side just destroyed that theory.

Comment #94The Mirror, reports Peter Kenyon remains hopeful of reaching agreement with Magpies owner Mike Ashley and is “keen to broker” a Newcastle United takeover by the end of the year.
Kenyon, who has joined forces with US-based investment group GACP Sports (led by Bordeaux owner Joseph DaGrosa), is keen to complete a deal in time for the January transfer window.
A source told the Mirror: “They’re hoping it’ll happen. They’re doing due diligence and they want to get the takeover done before the January transfer window, and then get some players in.”
Maybe that’s why Bruce was non-committal about January

Comment #102Irishrob, exactly. I don’t get the why people on here are bashing joelinton. The problem is our attacking football which is non existant. We don’t create any chances all game. Our attacking players pick up the ball deep in our own half most of the time.
Joelinton might have forgotten what it’s like standing in the 6 yard box.
Its not almiron or joelinton who are crap. It’s Bruce organisation and tactics of attacking play. Right now, Mpabbe or lewandowski upfront won’t make any difference.
Because we create f*k all.

Comment #103Based on statistics, a world class striker scores once in every 4-6 shots.
Half decent striker scorer scored once every 10 shots.
We create 10 shots in 10 freaking games!! And people here are blaming joelinton. Ffs.

Whilst you’re talking about clowns, fancy telling us again how Bruce isn’t talking about transfers as he doesn’t want to alert other clubs to how desperate we are.
Funniest thing I’ve read on here for a while, you should be a stand up comedian with pearls of wisdom like that.

Comment #115With news of Boly’s injury I’m even more minded that we have to use shock and awe tactics. so many things point to a Newcastle victory today.
High press, lots of energy, get the crowd immediately behind us, fly at them from all angles, overload the box.
A win and 3 goals for us today.

Comment #116People need someone to blame and they are probably just sick of blaming Bruce. But Joelinton isn’t faultless his attitude doesnt look right, he seems happier to give out than to try make a better effort.
He does an awful lot of complaining and giving out and throwing his hands up in the air in matches rather than just head down and get stuck in, which I cant stand.
But I agree it’s silly to be blaming him for not being able to score in this team. I can see where people are coming from though because on the converse of that, hes had numerous unchallenged or straight through on goal shots that a good striker would have put away easily.
So it is also fair to say hes not performing well, because hes missed quite a few he really should have put away.

Comment #120about Joe Linton he’s not a out and out C/F so whats his best position?, out wide . if you play him out wide who you gonna drop . Miggy, Maximin i don’t think so rather have them 2 in the team using their pace to get at defenders …
