Newcastle Linked In Winter Move For English Starlet

According to the Sun, Steve Bruce is a big fan of Chelsea right-back Reece James. The report says that Bruce will try to bring the youngster in on loan in January.

The 19-year-old was recently called up to Aidy Boothroyd’s England Under-21 team but has yet to make an appearance.

James has made just 5 appearances this season at Stamford Bridge with 2 of those starts. However, only one of those starts was in the Premier League as the youngster is firmly behind Cesar Azpilicueta in the pecking order.

James missed the first month of the season with an ankle injury that he suffered on international duty this summer. He is a product of the Chelsea Academy and was outstanding last season while on loan at Wigan.

There are two issues we see with this story. The first is that Newcastle have three right-backs on the books in DeAndre Yedlin, Emil Krafth, and Javier Manquillo.

Manquillo’s contract runs out in the summer of 2020, and he could be allowed to leave in the winter window. That theoretically could clear a pathway for James; however, there is another obstacle to that occurring.

What Steve Bruce may encounter is an unwilling Frank Lampard. Chelsea don’t have another natural right-back in the squad, so Lampard may not allow the budding star to leave in January.

Chelsea may not be allowed to replace any outgoings due to their current transfer ban. Though, the Sun also report that Chelsea are quietly confident the ban will be lifted in January.

Chelsea turned down a £10m bid from Brighton for James in April. Leeds’ Marcelo Bielsa is also apparently very interested in the player.

We don’t see this one coming to anything even if Javier Manquillo leaves in January.

OP I never said that was the reason that I thought Bruce wasn’t talking about transfers go back and read again. I said could it be the case which is a question just as I asked could it be he doesn’t want to drain the confidence of the current players again a question.

Do you see any managers coming out saying we are desperate for a striker and we have identified the targets already etc? Most will play it down even if they are desperate for players.

It’s hard work dealing with clowns like you.

Hail at 11:14, everytime we think we are going to win or the cards fall in our favour and it looks likely that we should win, we ALWAYS loose, this team doesnt play well when were not under pressure.

We could have an easy win today score 2-3 goals for once, but everything is pointing towards another loss judging from the past.

So Ashley sent his P.R man to Newcastle to guage the mood … Wtf , clearly Charnley can’t even be trusted to tell fatty what is going on …

We need to win today or think it’s going be between us, Southampton , Norwich and Watford in a dogfight whilst other teams create a gap – sadly we’ve been beaten by one, drawn with another and yet to play the other ..FML

It’s going to be a tough game for us today. Not sure if we’ll win we have no one to get us goals along. We also create very little. We have reverted to Rafa’s style of football as Bruce has absolutely no choice, same as Rafa. We’d be taken apart by a league 1 team.
We need big investment in the team and most moving on.

Nufc-83 , think fatty will throw enough money at it to get us out of championship although if nickson is picking players and Bruce in charge no amount of money will help us

Thing is even when Rafa was playing defensively (apart from the Fulham home game) we still managed to create lots of chances in games Joselu, Perez, Richie and Kennedy missed lots of very easy chances in our opening games last season which would have given us a lot more points!

Under Bruce we are trying to be solid but there doesn’t appear to be any idea of how to counter properly the only time we have done it effectively we scored against Man Utd hes had all week to work on something for Wolves lets hope we actually show some signs of improvement !!

Cant see us winning today bcos we cant score goals. its pretty simple really. Down we go with The cabbage Patch Kid.
On a brighter note i think we will win the RWC next week bcos England CAN score tries and have a kicker who rarely missis between the posts.

Lee Charnley that’s what I’ve always said about Rafa which is why it makes him such a good manager. He plays so defensively and it’s not always nice to watch but even playing so defensively the team is always set up to be a threat on the break. Other managers try to emulate and it’s difficult as they end up not doing anything going forward.

Perez and Rondon are a massive miss. Us staying up will depend on 3 clubs doing worse over the coarse of the season.

There’s no chance of Rafa coming back!
As far as relegation is concerned; for me it’s not the huge fear it used to be cos the alternative is Ashley ownership with no other ambition than staying in the PL and picking up the dosh!
I have had enough of it, especially when you see the success at Leicester and others.
Call me deluded, but we should be in the top six every year and pushing for CL.
The reason we haven’t been sold is the squad now needs £200 million spent to get where we were! Add that to £350 million for the club and it’s a bad deal.
    Ashley has ruined our club.
So, if we go down and he offloads us, we will eventually come back; but it may take 5 years! That’s 5 years without that fat cnut!

Top and bottom of it we haven’t the players to play attacking football. It wouldn’t matter who our manager was.

Wouldn’t it be good if the Sky money well ran dry and clubs had to depend on Gate receipts and merchandise sales, don’t know if that would scupper Ashlie or not though as he’d still be selling his tat.

Think we might sneak a win by the only goal today. Almiron to open his account, he’s definitely due one.
I’m not at the match but it’s got nowt to do with boycotting, family commitments otherwise i would’ve went. Hwtl

If relegation was certain to rid us of Ashley I would have a slight dilemma but I think relegation will only make it worse. Ashley will try to put money into the club again to get us up and this loads the club with debt to him as he won’t invest any of his own money. If we don’t get up the club will have to sell any players of value and who are on decent wages as if not we would be financially crippled. We then end up with a mediocre side in the championship and no way would Ashley sell at a really low price and lose all his money. The better we do in the prem the more appealing we are and the more likely we will be sold.

Nah, this is going to be a bit of a breakthrough day. A good win.

Almiron to score, Joelinton to score and Sean Longstaff with a goal of the month contender. Heard it here first.

I know but is there any point in supporting a team that is constantly struggling just to stay up, knowing he will sell the Longstaff boys at some point instead of building a team around them. Don’t get me wrong, I love this club passionately but I just can’t see Ashley selling unless the profits dry up. We had a world class manager who was building something. Too much ambition; so we now have a yes man, journeyman and no goal scorers.
It’s like playing snakes and ladders with this cynical, lying owner!
Selling off the land behind the Gallowgate is a pathetic move from a man with so much money; it makes no difference to him whatsoever except satisfy his greed!
