Champions League Club Reportedly Scouting Newcastle Target

Newcastle have reportedly maintained an interest in Preston center-back Ben Davies since this summer. The 24-year-old has been in outstanding form over the past two seasons for the Championship club.

Earlier this month, the Sun’s Alan Nixon reported that Newcastle still had an interest in Davies along with Brighton, Wolves, and Everton.

However, Alan Nixon has tweeted interesting news. Champions League German side Bayer Leverkusen have sent scouts to watch Preston three times. Reportedly to watch Ben Davies and winger Tom Barkhuizen.

Preston have had an outstanding start to the season in the Championship, where they are in an automatic promotion spot in second place.

Davies has just two years remaining on his contract and is reportedly worth around £10m.

Leverkusen are currently 8th in the Bundesliga but have lost all three of their Champions League group matches so far.

Newcastle have been linked with fair few central defenders Newcastle recently. In addition to Davies, there is Hellas Verona’s Koray Gunter, Burnley’s Ben Gibson, and Nottingham Forest’s Joe Worrall.

While Newcastle certainly aren’t screaming out for any additions to the position, they do have three that will be out of contract by 2021.

Ben Davies has been one of the Championship’s best players this season, and if Newcastle do end up losing one of their center-backs, he would be a very suitable replacement.

Unless, of course, for Fabian Schar who would be irreplaceable.

SB is definitely a stopgap! If the definition is “someone who is cheap and doesn’t make waves”
As far as the sale is concerned; don’t hold your breath!

    I’m just watching a recording of yesterday’s match. God we’re poor !
Can’t see Maxi staying long. Joelinton will never make it nor will Almiron unless he gets properly coached, and who have we got to do that?

Is it true they’ve started the construction behind the Gallowgate? I thought the appeal process was still active?

What an amazing sales strategy. Firstly chase away the only man giving the club any credibility, secondly hire a manager way down the list of employable candidates and who will have the bookies installing you as favourites for the drop and drive away thousands of fans. Thirdly blow 61M of the clubs coffers on untested talent and giving a 30 year old keeper a six year deal. Yes Steve Bruce is a stop gap. I’d stick to drinking whisky with dentists and inventing elaborate stories if I was you DubaiMicky.

The fact is Jabba just dont care

Never has and never will, hes gotten everything he wanted from us, and is now mopping up everything thats left

They can start construction if they choose, but if they dont get planning permission they will have to put it back as they found it afterwards

Lindisfarne, and miss out on a pay off? Doubt it. If he had any honour he would have followed Shearers advice and fullfilled his Sheff Wed contract.

He came off in the second half after the rucksack full of bricks Brewcey had him carrying snapped and gashed the back of his ankles.
