Dwight Gayle made his 100th Premier League appearance when he came on late at Chelsea a few weeks ago. It was a long time coming for Dwight, whose previous Premier League appearance was in the 3-0 win against Chelsea to close the 2017-18 season.
That game a few years ago also represented Dwight’s last start and goal for Newcastle United. Last season he was, of course, on loan in the Championship at West Brom.
Dwight spent the first few months of this season struggling with a pesky calf injury he suffered in July. He’s just now gotten himself back into a position where he can be selected for a first-team place.
It hasn’t happened just yet for Dwight as he’s only come on as a late-game substitute in the last two matches. However, with Newcastle unable to create many chances or put the ones they do create away, Gayle’s opportunity may come sooner than later.
Speaking to NUFC TV, Gayle is ready to take that chance when it comes:
“Of course, I’ve obviously got to impress him (Bruce) as much as I can in training. He’s taken a liking to me. Hopefully, I can prove my worth by scoring some goals and helping the team.
“We’re perhaps not creating as much chances as we’d like. I’m sure over the next few weeks, we’ll develop stuff on the training ground to help the boys upfront.”
We expect Dwight to get at least thirty minutes at West Ham on Saturday, if not the full start. Andy Carroll also trained today so Steve Bruce has plenty of options in attack
Hopefully, Dwight and Andy can start to bag some goals as we try to climb out of a relegation scrap.
How Will Newcastle Do At West Ham On Saturday?
- Lose (44%, 511 )
- Win (33%, 378 )
- Draw (23%, 267 )

Comment #1I would start him this weekend Joelinton is going to get bullied off West Ham’s centre halfs when we get hemmed in and start hitting long balls up to him! Someone with a bit of pace and movement might be the better option

‘they [NUFC] were also considering to hire Jose, but finally ended up with Steve Bruce, who is struggling and currently is 17th in the Premier League.
‘Reportedly, Mourinho is ready to manage Newcastle United and promises to fight for the top four finish for a new season if he gets backed by the club.’
It didn’t bring a smile on, I var nye choked on me coffee!

Comment #9I think it’s the tictacs that’s holding up the goals we have to play further up the pitch and press it’s the supply not the front three

Comment #10In a show of political courage, Corbin, by criticizing Ashley, will now likely lose the ‘massive’ pro-Ashley voting block! 😉

Comment #11We all know it’s the supply not the front 3. But if they cant strong passes together then playing higher up the pitch means were gonna concede even more.

Comment #13That makes no sense, also the higher up the pitch you go the more opponents you have to try pass it by and beat. Also the higher up the pitch we are the more defensively fragile we will be.

Comment #16Call me cynical but Newcastle has always been a Labour stronghold but pro-brexit so there could well be a lot of Labour voters pondering about their vote but as that nice Mr Corbyn is giving Ashley a kicking as Toon supporters as well, we’ll still vote for him – just saying!

Comment #17He’s not overweight, he’s just bulked up, it’s all upper body muscle he’s added. He closed down with more appetite than Joelinton has when he come on at weekend.
Start him against West Ham and ppl will realise, even though he isn’t the greatest ST, we’ve essentially been playing without one this season. Just having somebody with the instinct to sniff things out and movement to lose defenders, run the channels and attack the ball will make a heap of difference.

Comment #25Well Corbyns got my vote. Mind I’ve always voted Labour but wasn’t going to vote for the first time ever. Because they’re all crap. But if he goes after Ashley I’ll be there. Anyway NYmag is just giving his assessment of what he’s researched. I’m sure he’s one of the most genuine posters on the blog. I don’t understand all the legal stuff. Of course there will be some under stuff if Ashley’s involved though.

It is alleged a bullying complaint has been lodged against Steve Stone.
The former Nottingham Forest midfielder was a part of the Magpies’
backroom staff between 2010 and 2015
The 48-year-old teamed up with Peter Beardsley as assistant manager
to the reserve team in 2010 at NUFC before Alan Pardew promoted him
to the first-team set-up.
Beardsley was suspended from football for eight months in September.

Corbyn has my vote as well. Anybody who taxes wealthy footballers at 98 per cent is great for the Toon. It means the best players will not come to England and we might have a chance to stay up.!!!!
Not sure about his Brexit non policy mind. Apparently its get a new deal and then campaign against it for remain in a referendum. It that bollix or what?
The campaign will be about Brexit so I can see the little Trump getting voted in by stupid white van man.
What we need is a proper dose of communism. Take all the money off the rich and give it to the people on the dole and minimum wage. Huzzah.

The problem with Corbyn is he is not going far enough to help the workers.
The party will take over private schools and force private landlords to sell their property at a discount. Companies will be forced to hand over 10 per cent of their shares/wealth to the workforce. A good start but its only a start.
When the state owns all private property and controls all business, only then will the working man be free. I hope that Jeremy will go down this route when he gets the reins of power.
