‘It’s The Obvious One’ – Bruce Confirms Return Of Midfielder For West Ham

Steve Bruce has confirmed that Isaac Hayden will retain his place tomorrow at West Ham in an interview with BBC Newcastle.

Isaac’s return to the midfield is sort of a no-brainer due to the suspension of Sean Longstaff. Isaac had made 28 consecutive starts in all competitions up to the Leicester City debacle, as Steve Bruce and many others have called it.

The question is going to be who will partner Isaac in the midfield. Will Matty Longstaff retain his place, or will Steve Bruce go with Jonjo Shelvey or Ki Sung-yueng for the West Ham match?

We think Bruce will bring in Jonjo Shelvey and give Matty a bit of a respite for the time being.

The 19-year-old hasn’t reached the heights of the Manchester United match in his last two appearances. We also think Bruce rates Shelvey and will want to keep the temperamental midfielder involved when the opportunity arises.

Bruce has had some fortune when bringing in players out of the cold. That has especially been the case with Ciaran Clark, who was a shock selection for the Manchester United match.

We’ll see if Bruce has any other surprises up his sleeve for Saturday, but the return of Isaac Hayden certainly won’t be one of them.

How Will Newcastle Do At West Ham On Saturday?

  • Lose (44%, 511 )
  • Win (33%, 378 )
  • Draw (23%, 267 )

After Ashley & his minions sold James Miller and force KK to walk out.I slowly lose faith with the club. Ashley’s recently excuse was KK wanted experienced aging players only is bullshit. If I remember correctly, KK value young Miller’s workrate highly.

One thing I don’t understand is Bruce accused the players were too hard drilled to play defensive football, resulting the 2nd half “parking the bus tactic” I mean, if the players are not following his tactics and instructions. Obviously, they don’t trust him or even worst he had lost the dressing room. This is worrying.

Steve Bruce reveals he was sat on the toilet when he realised how good NUFC used to be compared to his bog-standard squad, as he looked at pictures of ?@alanshearer? & Les Ferdinand

    Ron Knee,
    It was inevitable
“But that’s gone, in the past. We have to accept where we are today. The club been relegated twice in 10 years and it’s been in the bottom half of the division.

‘We have to accept we are like 10, 11 teams in the bottom half of the Premier League. That’s what we are.’

    Rugby not going to plan!!

SB getting the excuses in early again I see. It really is McCarver all over again.
Do you think after almost 10 games and where the world can see both Almiron and Joelinton are being played out of position game after game and getting no joy whatsoever then SB might actually change something? No me neither.

We’re going to get a penalty today – who takes it though? Wouldn’t be confident in anybody likely to turn out today, unless Gayle is on the pitch.

    Rotonda heights,
He can’t drop Joelinton, Mikey would be apoplectic and besides who apart from an overweight and PL sub standard Dwight Gayle can he be replaced with.

    Gayle isn’t overweight.

Same people who used to say he’s too lightweight to play ST alone, now say he’s overweight because he’s bulked up and put on some muscle for better upper body strength. Plain misers. Neither is he PL substandard. He has a goal every 320 mins in the PL, a record he’s achieved playing in bottom half teams, often coming in and out of the side. Give him a run and he’ll be good for 8+ goals through to the end of the season. Joelinton is currently on target to get just another 3.

How many goals would Gayle score in a team that parks the bus and doesn’t have a plan when it comes to creating chances? Less than his usual handful a season I’d say. We are possibly the most negative team I’ve seen apart from maybe Burnley in many years. But we have far superior players to Burnley. They just have a manager with a system – park the bus and hit it long to the big men. We have park the bus and er…. park the bus some more.

Lawrenson says he knows how we’ll play but I’ve watched more Newcastle than him, for sure, and I’m not sure.

I do hate it that in the last few years we’ve established a reputation of THE park the bus side.

Anyway, Mark, bet against us (or for us) at your peril.

    Let’s win this one.

    TnMW,
When it’s worked and his parking the bus paid off he’s took the plaudits then when it doesn’t he blames the players mentality with subtle digs at the former manager.

From Talkshites lips to your ears, it must be true. As somebody who has been into fitness and bodybuilding for 20 years, I’ll use my own judgement thanks. His chest, shoulders and back looked thicker. His abdominal area wasn;t protruding at all, he had a very obvious fit and athletic shape. Mitrovic was overweight when he was here, Shelvey never been in good condition by PL footballer standards either.

England being schooled on how to win a WC. I’m very disappointed in how poor they are. Us northern hemisphere teams just arent as good as we think we are. We play a great one off game, but were really not that good tbh.

Ahead of the game at West Ham, Steve Bruce decided to come out, or was primed by Ashley’s PR people to do, to tell us Newcastle United are not really that special any more.

23 years ago Newcastle had Les Ferdinand and Alan Shearer playing up front, exactly what has Jabba done other than make shed loads of money from the club
