Newcastle Youngster Up For Goal Of The Month

Like Jetro Willems in September, Matty Longstaff is up for goal of the month for his strike against Manchester United.

Jetro Willems’s right-footed blast against Liverpool lost out to Southampton’s Moussa Djenepo, whose goal against Sheffield United won for September.

This month it is Matty’s debut blast at St James Park which is one of seven contenders for October.

While Newcastle have failed to get many goals this season, they certainly have been able to score some good ones.

None were more timely or emotional than the one the 19-year-old scored against Manchester United. It was the local lad’s Premier League debut and secured all three points for Newcastle.

Did you get my link to the Barclay brothers early morning ?

I don’t read the Telegraph and anything Iv mentioned did not come from it ..Its probably info Iv picked up eavesdropping in the Pub or such like .

Anyway I can see they are entertaining the Tories.

The most litigatious people I have come across.

They are a pair I would hate to see buying Newcastle ..they might just sue the crowd for abusive chanting !

Jib I agree re Shepherd, won’t ever forgive him for that comment. As I took my daughter down to Manchester semi final against Shef. United. And some horrible Man United supporter stopped and called us dogs. I was furious because my daughter was just young then.

Hibbit. No I’ve always disliked Freddy Shepard and Hall’s son. loved What Sir John did. Mind it was funny going to that semi final has the comments had just been aired. Slot of female fans were dressed in Dalmatian dog costumes.

Posted this before but hear is the breakdown of what the Halls and shepherds took out of the club
    With apologies to:
Figures compiled with assistance of Ian Ferguson from http://www.nufc-finances.org.uk

    Website no longer running

From big spenders to big earners

Since Newcastle United were floated on the Stock Exchange in April 1997 the Hall family and Freddy Shepherd have earned from the club as follows:

Sales of shares by Cameron Hall, Sir John and Douglas Hall’s company:

    December 1998 Sold 6.3% to NTL: £10m

    December 1999 Sold 3.26% to NTL: £5.28m

December 1999 Douglas Hall sold 0.39% to NTL: £0.57m

June 2003 Sold 11.4% to Newcastle United itself: £4.5m

Total earned by Hall family in sales of Newcastle United shares £20.35m

Sales of shares by Freddy Shepherd Nil

Shepherd and his brother, Bruce, have increased their shareholding, via their company, Shepherd Offshore, from 7% at the time of flotation to 28% now

Dividends paid by Newcastle United plc to shareholders 1998-2005

    Total to Halls: £13,698,280

    Total to Shepherds: £5,489,239

    Salary packages paid

    Year Hall Shepherd

    1999 £23,533 £23,533

    2000 £35,000 £75,000

    2001 £110,000 £232,868

    2002 £524,257 £591,639

    2003 £591,667 £668,920

    2004 £635,465 £717,145

    2005 £495,951 £552,954

    Total £2,415,873 £2,862,059

Totals made from Newcastle United 1999 to 2005

Sir John, Douglas and Cameron Hall: £36,466,153

Freddy Shepherd and Shepherd Offshore: £ 8,351,298

    Total £44,817,451

Figures compiled with assistance of Ian Ferguson from http://www.nufc-finances.org.uk

Totals made from Newcastle United in a 6 year period

Sir John, Douglas and Cameron Hall: £36,466,153

Freddy Shepherd and Shepherd Offshore: £ 8,351,298

    Total £44,817,451
That equals over &7 million per year

    AND

In summary what Shepherd left was a club that was losing over £30m a year, had debts of £70m, had no assets they could borrow more money against, and had a set of players on long, lucrative contracts. Ashley can get rid of the debt but the £30m annual losses with over paid players will take longer to sort out.

Charlie We’ve had a history of bad owners, Ashley is by far the worst, as he has no ambition and is fast losing any interest he had, can’t wait to get rid of him. I the Halls and Shepard’s got well paid. Thieve’s the lot of them.

So many of the wealthy are absolutely ruthless. For every Tom Steyer there are a million Donald Trumps. With so-called populism you get fascism and overwhelming greed by the wealthy. And erosion of democracy.

2 things missing from that post £62m of that £70 m was a 10 year mortgage with Barclays on the then new stand, and more importantly we now owe double+ that to Ashley

Sir John Hall was a good owner, because he cared. I don’t begrudge him feathering his nest one bit, as he made the club a force to be reckoned with once more.

Shepherd and the other Halls were leeches, never cared for anything but lining their own pockets, used the club as a vehicle to do just that but at least part of their strategy was to keep the club fighting with the big boys at the top table.

The lack of ambition and care shown by Ashley, whilst also robbing the family silver, is unprecedented in my experience. I was just a teenager living away from the North East when SJH took over, so didn’t pay any attention to the ownership of the club at all before that time, though I gather it was pretty bad then too.

I am thinking about it ..hence the questions ..I know you are up to speed so a good idea to run it by you I thought.

Hearing opinion from many sides leaves one in a quandary as to the truth of any statements put out by those in power and the opposition..

I’m looking at the possibility of a decision to stay in Europe through another referendum and what it will mean as regards immigration and controlling our borders .

Not looking towards the past , although both main parties show bad form, Im looking to the future.

Let’s not fall out over a divisive issue and politics..

Meanwhile its said the Barclay brothers divide and conquer through a newsletter they say they have nothing to do with near an Island off Sark .

    What a pair !

    Folie à deux ….?
