Alan Shearer Says What We All Are Thinking After Big Win

Alan Shearer has taken to Twitter after the big win this afternoon. He really has a way of succinctly summing up the feelings of Newcastle’s fans.

This case is no difference as Newcastle fans can breathe a collective sigh of relief after a well-beaten West Ham side got within a goal of a result today.

Newcastle climb to 15th position in the league table after this resounding victory. It was the first time Newcastle have scored more than once this season, and that’s slightly disappointing as it should have been at least 5 goals.

We’ll take the 2-3 win as it is away against a very good West Ham side which is struggling for form a little at the moment. Though, to be honest, they were pretty dreadful this afternoon.

However, Newcastle did what they needed to seal the victory. If we can ever get our front trio of Joelinton, Saint-Maximin, and Almiron firing in front of goal, we may be a force to be reckoned with.

Who Was Newcastle's Man Of The Match At West Ham?

  • A. Saint-Maximin (49%, 1,182 )
  • Jonjo Shelvey (22%, 530 )
  • Miguel Almiron (9%, 224 )
  • Federico Fernandez (5%, 119 )
  • Jetro Willems (4%, 102 )
  • Ciaran Clark (4%, 85 )
  • Isaac Hayden (3%, 61 )
  • Joelinton (2%, 52 )
  • Martin Dubravka (1%, 25 )
  • Andy Carroll (1%, 14 )
  • Jamaal Lascelles (0%, 10 )
  • DeAndre Yedlin (0%, 7 )
  • Paul Dummett (0%, 6 )
  • Christian Atsu (0%, 5 )

No doubt Rice will still be in the upcoming England squad despite playing as a holding, combative midfielder today and Hayden absolutely schooling him on how to do it right.

Fernandez has been every bit as good as Schar since he’s come in, on the ball too surprisingly. To think how well stocked at CB we are. One thing you can definitely say about Rafa, he knows his CBs.

well done today, great team performance.

Brucey boy is doing ok, wish he would attack more at home against the so called easier teams, but i think he is doing a better job than benitez before him.

Benitez is struggling in china, because he is a poor coach, football has moved on from his hoof it long and hope for the best style. the chinese league is easy in comparison to the prem, yet he cannot stop conceding goals. 18 in the last 10 games,, Brucey boy has only conceded 16, and brucey isnt exactly a great coach.

    Outstanding performance.

    I went for Willems.

An absolutely class game from him and should have had 2 assists when he set ASM away.

He’s a very good footballer and we have a great player on our hands. As is ASM May I add.

I see he’s back! Benitez was a brilliant manager for Newcastle United absolutely no argument about that! With regard to Bruce at NUFC the jury is still out!

Jib I’m well aware of that, smh! He ain’t from Cyrus. The clue is in the bit where he said he put s bet on, sports betting is especially no existent in the Mediterranean.

Telling a guy with a genius I.Q of 156 that they use Euro in Cyprus like I didn’t know that. Dont annoy me now Jib. It’s been a great day!

One of my criticisms of most of our recent managers (good and bad) , we have pace up front, why not leave Miggy and St Maximam on the half way line on each wing during opposition corners?
The opposition would need to leave 4 players back minimum in case we turn over possession , Dubs would have better visibility of the corner and if the defenders are back covering Miggy and St max there will be less height in the box from the opposition, Miggy and St max are unlikely to win the ball in the box vs big defenders but , would stand a huge chance of winning an over the top or down the line pass out. ALA Vardy for Leicester when Drinkwater was playing for them.

Pisses me off the way people just ignore the good things Miggy does. He was by far the second best player on the pitch, but they vote the goal scorer Shelvey who switches off numerous times in the match, and was non existent for the last 20min.

Ok Jib, no point arguing who’s right or wrong because neither of us actually know. But I’d say I’m right nothing you’ve said has convinced me I’m wrong.

Great result and a lot of attacking intent shown today. ASM would be top drawer with a bit more composure in front of goal. He’s still young enough to sort his finishing out, he reminds me of a young Sterling who also missed a lot of chances. He slots em away for fun now and rarely looks like missing.

Willems, ASM, Miggy and Fernandez were extremely good. Shelvey wasn’t great in play but had impact with set pieces.

Yes Willsm at the reported 6-8m is a snip. We’d be daft not to.

My concern with him was the intensity of the PL and his casual body language, but turns out he’s just very composed. Defensively I’ve been very pleasantly surprised by him.

Willems is a no brainer Miggy I feel is a bit too “nice” he needs to learn to put the laces to it and to Light the Afterburners as soon a Smaxi gets the ball. If those two get their act together they could be awesome.
